In this video i set out to cut some recycled bottles using a cheap bottle cutting jig i found on Amazon (no link) and use them in conjunction with led lights and candles. The bases are various things i had kicking around that i drilled and or turned on the lathe for the bottles to sit in - Развлечения
Anyone else flinched when Doug poured the hot water over the first bottle? Nice one, again, Doug! You could be an arts and crafts teacher! You seem to know so many (fun) ways to do crafty things!
YES I DID! ha ha! 😄
Ha ha, I knew it was coming, but I still jumped when it fell!!! Candles in bottle glass is very hot right now, many with lables.
Theresa Lili me too!!
I remember the Rondo commercials in the 70's for the bottle and jar cutter . Brings back good memories . Cool project Doug thanks for the vid .
Doug, you are in my top 5 favorite channels. Thanks for another great video. But, as Crafsman reminds us, "Don't forget your dust mask!" Especially when you are dry sanding glass.
Brings back memories of being a kid in the 70s
Richard Groom that's exactly what I was thinking 🙂
@@wandering27 Me too and some had smoke in them for some reason. :O)
What a nice arrangement of candles and fairy lights. When I fist clicked to watch, for some reason, I thought you were going to make them into outdoor string lights.
Hey Doug hope all is well buddy. Yeah we can go visit people on friday but only two adults at a time. Be good to see family and friends again. SD of course. Cheers mate from Australia 🇦🇺💯👍🏻
Wow, I learn new things every day! I like the bottle with the cork - really nice! You should give one back to Shawn 😇
I came across your videos last week and you've really inspired me to start carving. I've used you're tutorials to carve a few wizards with my swiss army knife and have today invested in some proper carving tools. I've been planning on making a bottle lamp for a few weeks, and the fact that you've posted this today makes it seem like it was meant to be. Thanks so much, you're truly inspiring.
That is beautiful. I guess I have never seen glad cut before. I jumped when the first one broke in two. Ha. Lovely candle lights. 💖
Everything old is new again. LED's are a nice touch. Stay safe, stay healthy.
A nice switch from wood carving...nifty way of cutting it and I always cut all the way through, Doug. Thanks!
I didn’t even know I was interested in that...😂 Way to change it up. Thx
I've tried this wine bottle cutting with a jig that I improvised and it didn't work. You gave me enough information here to try it again with a commercial jig. I hugely enjoyed this video, and presenter Doug was really pleasant. Now I gotta shuck out twenty bucks for a bottle cutting jig and hope my wife doesn't tap-dance on my head.
Been cutting glass for 40 yrs and it can be temperamental. Try doing bottles in the Winter with warm water on the inside and snow on the outside, same idea but less work. 😉 Enjoyable video.👍
We make candies for fun. And this is just what we need to add that little extra to our candies. Thanks Doug.
The good old 70's!!
I loved watching you make the beautiful candle holder. The funny thing is though, I was watching you on our big tv and when that first bottle popped I jumped! Then I laughed at myself!
A great way of upcycling the old glass bottles. I will make a couple for my wife. Thanks for the inspiration, Doug. Keep up the good work, you are doing a great job of cheering up the world!
Very creative Doug. Never seen a string of fairy lights on a cork like that. Pretty neat. Thanks!
Doug, you're an extremely gifted man, and I feel honored that you're sharing your talents with us. Thank you!
Loved it, "Science with Doug" that was cool. Hot/cold water was great. Thanks 😊 Doug. .. Arkansas Clyde 🇺🇸👍
Very interesting way of recycling bottles into candle holders
And glasses to drink
Yes, I thought about using beer bottles for beer glasses. Just cut off the bottom and glue it to one of those table protectors that they use in bars and such. That could be cool. «In this house we drink beer straight from the bottom, you see».
Keep em coming< Doug. The random projects are just as fun and enjoyable as the carving videos.
Very cool!! I jumped every time it broke!!! LOL! Fun ideas. Peace and Good Fortune and Good Health to you and your family.
I had some emotions bottled up but now you're lit up my life. ha ha ha..Thanks Doug, cheers
Gosh you are So Creative Doug🙏💙🙏💙🙏

Fantastic Doug, I'm showing it to Karen, she's a crafter. Love the variety you are putting into your posts.
Your all set for the power to go out! Great stuff as usual! Thanks Doug!
Love it! You have such great ideas. I love wood working and you've helped me imagine many other items to incorporate into the wood. You have also inspired me to carve a spoon and spatula; they didn't turn out too bad. I use them with my cast iron. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yes, brings back memories, the cutter I had was a score with a metal wire that got heated up....spent hours doing that.
Thanks Doug for the tip on the bottles.
Cool Doug, never seen a cutter like that. Trash to treasure right.
Very beautiful ending to with the lights and candles

It was great. In shop class we used steel rods heated and used oil , this jig and water was very interesting. Can't wait for the bottom video
Great minds thinking alike Doug. I just started getting back to doing these. I actually do acrylic painting on them and seal it with spray epoxy. Love the lighting ideas. The bottle tops I have been thinking would be great wind chimes. Thanks again for another awesome video.
This is amazingly simple to follow through. Thank you. Will try this out.
I love these ideas. I am thinking about Xmas gifts. Thanks for this video.

OMG talk about a blast from the past! Does that mean Rock tumbling will be next LOL or what about crocheting hats out of beer cans. You got me wanting to do something on school now
there were those candle making kits that always had a mushroom and an owl mold and the paints to paint them with and what about Shrinky Dinks?

That was cool! I think I might want to try that. Great present.
Hey doug had a thought. Using the lathe make some sort of a disk shape, incorporate both the top and the bottom but separated by the round disk, then add some slots in around the disk to fit the stem of some wine glasses. And pow now you have a lited wine glass holder. Thanks doug keep up the good work I really enjoy your videos.
