    Very wierd Giles because I was always taught to hit down on the ball and avoid scooping all of a sudden this method has transformed my chipping by hitting up against what everyone advocates
    It makes the shot so much easier
    Thanks so much for your tuition I'm tempted to try this on longer shots
    Best regards from Arnie in South Africa

    • @Gilesgillgolf

      You are hitting down you’re just applying a certain force on the club that allows you to release it correctly

    It's like your elbows extend on the back swing and contract on the follow through, that's my swing thought, btw I tried this today and boy oh boy the contact and consistency is next level! This method really shallows the club and engages the bounce so well! Thanks Giles, excellent lesson!

    It does work to hit the shot cleanly, but for me the loft causes too much backspin for a chip shot. The ball stops quickly, so nice little low pitches.
    I was using a 7 Iron from just off the front of the green chipping 30 feet to the back, I will try again with a 6 Iron and 4 & 5 hybrids that I now use.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад +1

      So this is for finesse wedge shots which is essentially anything inside 40 yards. This does also apply to bunkers around the greens

  • @johnc6919

    Hi Giles, this concept is totally new to me and I’ve been playing for over 30 years but it makes total sense. Does the principal apply to all golf shots?

    This upward movement is it just releasing the right wrist angle in the downswing with a body rotation?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  11 месяцев назад

      You can still have a downward force and throw with the right so I’d say it’s similar but no it’s not the same

    If your pulling the grip up why don’t you miss the ball ??

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад

      Because as you pull up on the handle the club head will release down getting the club back into a vertical position which will allow you to make contact with the ground
