From 6:10, Parker you just described the trajectory, flight and pain of 20 years of my short game. Absolutely loved this explanation and video. Thanks for making it
Parker is next level. I’ve had a severe case of the chipping yips for 8 years. I’m convinced it was due to my attempts to make precise ball contact. Totally unnecessary. Once I learned to reduce my wrist hinge, shallow the club and use my body rotation to move the club I climbed my way out of hell. Still jab once in awhile but I 100 percent know why. Thank you Chef.
Yes chef. Have actually learnt, after watching a few of your videos, how to actually use the bounce and just wow. Best days chipping and pitching I’ve ever had.
This one video has certainly made a big difference for me. Mid to high singles, but with a solid short game I find this has helped in countless tight spots around the green where once I would have been much more nervous, especially into the grain. I'm also now using my SW more where I may have used my 60 before. Much better control and no more anxious tension. Many thanks - Dave
I’ve been seriously struggling with my shortgame, every videos been advising to keep the club out the hands etc I can’t believe how consistent this was. I felt like my arms were extremely close to my body but it worked time and time again. From small shots over a bunker to roughly 90/100 yard pitches. Playing tomorrow so will be interesting to see how I get on. Cheers
Hi David - you're not an Aussie who once lived in Wauchope are you? If so, we used to hit golf balls together on Fairmont oval almost 40 years ago! If not, you must be a decent bloke with a name like that! Cheers - David 🙂
This are great videos and you actually end up explaining it in the second half of the video, but a little context to begin the video would be super helpful like "x yards off the green and have x feet to the pin" and can use this shot for up to 50 yds.
Have been working on only this for 2+ yrs, finally making some headway (overcoming the white knuckles and getting some tempo is a big step). One thing I've found with the shallow arc is that if I'm swinging with connected body rotation, the shallow and around backswing is getting some poor contact results where a slightly straighter back swing is producing consistent crisp contact. Seems perhaps there is such a thing as a back swing thats too shallow. I also feel I have to fight a tendency to drop the club to the inside, perhaps a hold over from the full swing.
The editing is hilarious on some of this, boys 😂 He’s stood right behind you then cut to the greens after the shot to see the ball run out and chef is no where to be seen! 😅
At 5:53 Parker points to the right arm or lat and says something like now feel like this… what was he going to say? Looks like that thought was what fixed the steep action.
I think what he was going to say was feel like this stays connected. Meaning his right arm shouldn’t get disconnected from his torso too much. I think that’s what he was getting at a bit in the seconds leading up to it as well.
A few comments about this: - Fantastic instruction, using the bounce with spin loft - Lots of tour players DON'T use this technique. They play a cut with a steep AoA. - Scheffler, Day, Spieth are the highest profile exponents of this technique - This technique is great when hitting with the grain but not into the grain
I may be dumb but I keep watching this one and the low spinner one and I cannot tell the difference between the two shots. Can SGC or someone please help me understand the differences?
Everyone is taking about what Mayo is doing with Victor and this seems to be the opposite but I think Victor is an outlier and that won’t work for many people
One thing that is not being explained very well in the beginning of the video is what you are trying to accomplish what is the total yardage of the chip how far off the green etc. Eventually you see when the angle changes what the player is faced with. The explanation of the motion is great but it would also help to understand the total distance to the hole and how far you are carrying the ball
If you hit a huge hook or slice, but you always aim for it and hit the fairway, you wouldn't want to straighten that out to add 20+ yards to your drive? Why would you not want the same in your short game? More ball spin, more consistency, and it bleeds into other shots. You're never "done" working on your golf swing.
@@BooserBoi if I'd hit always the fairway, i would never, ever change my swing to gain some yards. Especially as an amateur, who wouldn't have the time to put in all the work for a successful swing change, and would be caught in no man's land when the pressure will go up, down the stretch of a tournament. Same for the short game: i would better learn to control my distances with the swing i have (unless this would be inconsistent, leading to fat and thins).
@@BooserBoi More spin? nope! A chip shot with an steeper AOA & slightly open CF will have way more spin and it starts lower cause of friction. The only thing why this ball stops earlier cause of a steeper landing angle. More consistency? Nope! every interaction with the ground (before you hit the ball) will lead to inconsistency. It will change the dynamic loft, the club face & AOA. If you want to be good in chipping, work on both but changing someones "it works under pressure" shot, its just bullsh**
“Yes Chef” 😂

I have that now. Hopefully this video helps
Good to know there is a way out. It’s been the bane of my existence for a few years now.
Same for me. Without question the most effective change near immediately of all the techniques I’ve tried in golf.
Just watched the “low” spinner vid, now this. So well explained, super valuable info!
MORE. OF THIS. PLEASE. So good and helpful. Thx.
Best chipping video I have seen. Thank you.
Yes chef. Have actually learnt, after watching a few of your videos, how to actually use the bounce and just wow. Best days chipping and pitching I’ve ever had.
This video is a perfect example of how to use the club’s bounce. Let the bounce do it’s job. Great video.
Absurd how well this works. I watched the video yesterday and just spent some time on the practice green with instant results. Thank you!

Tried this the last two rounds with amazing results….the drop kick “miss” is amazing!
Awesome bit of information from chef, great dialog. More please.
love the vanilla shots! such great info. thanks guys
Excellent lesson! Thank you. Boston Massachusetts
The way chef explains the how and the why the how is the how is great
2:45 "...do that by pivoting" very well said
Great info Parker. What degree of loft and degree of bounce do you recommend for this stock pitch?
More of this! Love these vids.

the "inside" takeaway is key!
I find a Description of the Shot - Distance to Front, and then Distance to Pin very helpful.

I will never look as silky smooth with a wedge as Casey looks lol. Great video!
loving these vids
I play in the Uk and the shot we have to over come is a tight lie on wet mud. Does this approach need adjusting for a wet mud lie?
What club are you using for this shot?
Totally off topic question, but that hoodie looks crazy comfortable. What is it?!?
Now I fully get why Parker is so good at this.
Can we get the 'Part 2 & 3; add-ons' for this fundamental shot??? Pretty please 😊
I had the same question as drroger98: What club do you recommend for this shot, SW or PW? Or does it depend on how far you are from the pin?
master class here
Super tip Great...
Just noticing that his feet are really close together. I don't do this. Is this a normal stance or ideal stance for a short pitch? thx for the video!
Yes chef! 😂
The stock pitch is the perfect name for mine because it always ends up in the pasture next to the golf course.
Livestock shot!
- “I don’t want you to chase the feeling of compression…”
- “I like that feeling……”
- “ I know….”
😂😂😂😂

What club was he using?
This may be a silly question but What club loft is he using?
What loft is the club?
Nice, but which pitching iron: 47, 50, 56, 60?
At 5:53 Parker points to the right arm or lat and says something like now feel like this… what was he going to say? Looks like that thought was what fixed the steep action.

What club are you hitting here for the stock shot?
Wow! Cooking here so good I don't want to share with my boys! LOL

As soon as he asked why would you go ball 1st is the exact same time i exited this video
you missed out on a lot then
@@paceykleinman7797 if your not hitting ball 1st your not playing good golf period

Why do I still blade the ball. I have incorporated all three techniques demonstrated?

So this style for 50 yards and in, then go back to ball first beyond?
So what club would you use from that distance with the same technique?
50, 54, or 58. Those are my choices. Which do you prefer for this shot?
That a 60 degree wedge?
Similar to Phil Rodgers teaching in '80's with the "flat spot".... wasn't into compression and a shallow approach.
This also seems more like a chip than a pitch right?
Open the club face and use the bounce. The grooves and toe are not talked about enough!
Why am I hitting everything off the hosel?
Not kidding I’ve hit more sick chef shots in the last month than I have in 2 years, and I’m a decent player (6 handicap)
Thank you chef
Loft of Club?
So what do we do if it’s not a tight fairway lie?
That is so far from a “tight lie.”
Merci de lyyt
Great lesson, BUT that is NOT a tight lie.
Ball first!! So your wife doesn't kill you for tearing up the front lawn. 😜
You are sweeping the turf, no divot
Whata difference, went from looking like me too max homa
if i buy a subscrition as a gift can I use the broken tee society membership lol they would never use it and i dont like spending money on myself
Sure! We won’t judge.
"Pivot" is a little generic. Shift, turn, tilt???
It's not that his first couple of shots were thinned or awful in any sense... why changing something it's working?
