I'm so happy you brought up the topic of African movies and series, and this happens in South african movies as well.. where they associate natural hair with poverty lol the graduation cap lol😂 idea is crazy u funny but it's true, all of sudden when they upgrade in life they than have the wig of paradise bestowed upon them and u can see they put on a pedastal gaze of wow oh she looks amazing like seriously.. we suffering from self hate and ignorance..im in south africa and i have locs ohh let me tell something weird so i started my natural hair journey years ago i had an afro and than had a second big chop than started my locs.so before my hair locked i would be a pick me and wear wigs i had a wig but it was that closure wig not a lace front..
Ever since i had locs i would try put on the wig, can u believe that i would itch and my scalp would sweat this didnt happen before, and i just hated how it smelled yho all of a sudden.. I knew that our hair is really highly vibrational...Descendants of the Annunaki tribe rise and love yourself it's overdue.

I honestly hate how we make a joke of ourselves in these movies. Hope you're loving your loc journey 💚❤️

I wish you can dive deeper on how African movies and series depict the association of natural hair with poverty, depression, someone who is uncivilized, someone who lacks home training or the helper.....it's such an unspoken elephant in the room not only Nigerian movies do it I see it on Netflix with content from my own country South Africa and other Africans countries on Netflix, Dstv and showmax

I strongly suspect that these writers may be forced to write like that, by r*cist and money hungry network owners and sponsors. After all, the wig and synthetic braiding hair industry is big big money so they will do whatever it takes to make sure we hate our hair or can't even wear it at all at certain jobs/schools because it is "untamed" and "unprofessional". This issue won't go away as long as we are living in a capitalistic and well... colonial society.

@Azanianprince That may be true sometimes but it's not always the case, I've seen us be an embarrassment to our ppl very often for free and not even asked to. I think It's mostly internalized r*cism .

All different races of women wear wigs but only black women get flack for it! I do agree that black women should wear wigs that mimic their own texture so you can have some leave out and look effortless. A textured kinky wig looks sooooo pretty imo ♥

I’ve only seen them wear realistic textures. I’ve never seen other races put on a 4c wig. But we put in unrealistic textures our hair can’t blend with, unrealistic hair lines, the screen door in the part, and that crusty white hairline with the ugly edges. It doesn’t help that people think we can’t grow hair when I actually think the vast majority can

It's wild for you to call women who wear frontal wigs stupid when you work in an industry that badly portrays women with natural hair. The anger and frustration in that video were so strange to me. This was displacement at its finest. I don't wear any types of wigs, but I've never been angry nor frustrated at people who wear wigs.

Everyone has a choice if that is what some women want to wear leave them. Some of you are too caught up in what others are doing it has nothing to do with you let people make their own decisions . If they want to relax their hair, wear wigs , go natural , go bald that's their choice .Another sign of low self esteem is putting down other women because they made their choice .

13:39 😭 this is so true. When I decided to cut my relaxed hair in 2020, I held it in my hands for a while. It was like someone died, I didn't throw it away for a long time. Anytime I see the styles I've abandoned from the frontals to certain braids, I started second guessing myself.

My dear, I've been seeing your channel and I've decided to subscribe finally. 😂😂😂 The intro was wild 😂😂😂. It's not bad to wear wigs obviously, but it's the obsession, like sleeping with a wig😢 if it's not sown in then you should take it off. Why are you running to carry a wig because a camera is on? I took 3 wigs from my mom to wear in the next 2 wigs, it's because I've done some cornrows and I'm a teacher, no money or time till December 13th. My colleague pulled her wig off in school last week 😂😂 and it inspired me because I don't have patience for the heat and stress.

I’m really about to jump on the transracial train I don’t even want to identify as a black woman anymore every time I turn around we disrespecting another for the most outrageous and outlandish thing from the bonnets to the wigs to the natural hair it’s ridiculous 🤦🏾‍♀️I don’t see other races of women doing this to each other…I truly look forward to the day we are delivered from whatever demon this is 🤦🏾‍♀️

It’s history, maybe even Jim Crow, colonialism and even survival in todays superficial world. If my hairstyle based on location helps me sustain self and family instead of lowering my chances at employment or earning potential even if self employed, imma do it for my descendants.

I disagree. You like what you like, just because a black women chooses to wear a bone straight wig doesn’t always mean it’s a sign of low self esteem. People like what they like if they want to wear wigs let them be🙄
