My husband did security for them at a hotel back in Boston YEARS ago. Said they were without a doubt the most pleasant and polite group of guys he ever dealt with in a 15 year career.
Eddie dropped down off a pole at a show here in St Louis and landed on my head. He got up and grabbed me and asked me a bunch of times “ARE YOU OK!” I was like “YEAH IM GOOD!” Then he bear hugged me while patting my back, apologized for falling on my head and took off back to the stage. It was in the middle of Even Flow when they extend the music into a jam session while Eddie climbs something crazy so he has to finish the song lol Great times!
Phil, "Don't do it bro" You never have to worry because the crowd will always catch someone. ESPECIALLY anyone in the band! To them it's an honor and pleasure to catch a band member. Especially the singer! You notice how he was nicely passed back to the stage.
There’s not a bad song on this album. There’s really not a ton of bad songs they have period. One of the best rock bands that just love to play for their fans. Love this reaction and love this band. Thanks.

I’ve got a cool story about Eddie Vedder. First I worked for an insurance company back in the day in the special lines field and remember actually speaking to Eddie about his boat policy! He said enjoyed calling instead of his agent! Very down to Earth and later we were able to meet at a Seattle Pearl Jam show so he was able to put a face to the voice on the phone 📱. The audio in the video is live. If you ever get a chance to listen to the studio version you'll hear the difference. The video is mostly scenes of PJ performing this song at an actual show with footage of them performing other songs from the same show. Actually a great idea to give viewers a taste of what it's like to be at a PJ show. Even in their early days Pearl Jam were a band who sounded even better live than they did in the studio and I remember buying a bootleg cassette of one of their shows. It was in '92 and the tape was from a show that same year. Ah, the pre-internet days! Haha. And I remember being like, holy crap, PJ is a whole other animal live. And the reason PJ still has such a huge fanbase thirty years later is because of how great their live shows are, even to this day.
It's not live audio, it's actually the rerecorded studio version of even flow with dave a on drums, the original version that was on 'ten' had krusen on drums, that's why it sounds different.

I recorded this on VHS and played it for breakfast when it came out and my dad called the singer "Sleep shirt" cause he thought Eddie looked like he just got out of bed and up on stage.
I believe this song was their first major release. I was hooked from the start! Honestly, i don't remember being all that fond of Black until unplugged. The emotion in that performance was on another level. Even Flow, Alive, and Jeremy were my favs on that album.
Fortunate enough to see them in 1992 about a year after their first album Ten came out so full on grunge scene going on and the live energy was just unbelievable as they were all still pretty young, jumping off the stage, climbing up the stanchions and really just a big time rock show vibe.
Pearl Jam was my favorite grunge band in the 90's. I liked all grunge but Pearl Jam and Eddie's voice! I also love the collaboration of Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden and Audioslave) in the band Temple of the Dog- Song is Hunger Strike. Here are the lyrics because you NEED to read them BEFORE you watch the video. The song is a statement of staying true to what you're doing regardless of what comes of it, and will never change for the purposes of success or money. I don't mind stealin' bread from the mouths of decadents But I can't feed on the powerless when my cup's already overfilled, yeah But it's on the table, the fire's cookin' And they're farmin' babies, while slaves are workin' The blood is on the table and the mouths are chokin' But I'm goin' hungry, yeah I don't mind stealin' bread from the mouths of decadents But I can't feed on the powerless when my cup's already overfilled, uh huh But it's on the table, the fire's cookin' And they're farmin' babies, while the slaves are all workin' And it's on the table, their mouths are chokin' But I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) uh, I don't mind (No, I don't mind stealin' bread) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry) I'm goin' hungry (goin' hungry)

Ten is one if the all time best albums. Every song is a banger and it was on constant repeat on my walkman in the 90s along with Soundgarden's Superunknown
I saw LOLLAPOLOOZA 91-94. PJ played in 92 with these other famous bands and people! Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Jesus & Mary Chain, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill…
As a story song, “Jeremy” combined a real-life incident with Vedder's own bad childhood memories and imagination.
