    Thank you for this production. I teach a Forensics class at a suburban Buffalo high school and use it to introduce the topic and to demonstrate the reality of solving crimes. Great video from start to finish.
    Thank you again

      How about investigating a group of lowlife fascists who carry out religious persecution while pretending to be the police?
      Oh sorry, that would be you lot.
      Only degenerate animals would arrest a pastor in front of his children for holding mass.
      Edit to add.
      Spineless cowards disable comments, you lot are a complete and utter disgrace to the country.

    @tsukikochibi our homicide unit investigates an average of 100 cases per year. These include homicides, suspicious deaths, suicide with handguns, in custody deaths or serious injuries, as well as providing assistance to other law enforcement agencies as required. Approximately 20 investigators carry multiple files, as assigned by their supervisors, but it is dependent on workload and the complexity of each file as to how many each might have at any given time.

    You're on the right lines. If there is evidentiary value in the items, that has to be dealt with first. Then the items will be returned to the rightful subsequent owner.

    Suspect line-ups are not done with real people as they are on TV. In Calgary we use photo line-ups. The photos come from a variety of sources including mug shot photos and drivers licences, and undergo a fair selection process to eliminate biases or uncertainty.

    Wow, thank you for doing this. Sadly, I had no idea and I'm glad to know a little more now. Out of curiosity how many cases to investigators usually take at one time?

    Stress is unique to each individual. How someone reacts, and how they minimize the effects of stress over time depends on the person. As an organization, we have established on-going training and support programs that aid officers in being mentally and physically prepared for the situations they face. We encourage our officers to take advantage of the psychological services and wellness programs that are provided to them. A healthy work-life balance is key to success both on and off the job.

    Some basic minimum applicant requirements for police officers and volunteers are common such as age, citizenship (legal permanent status) and security clearance requirements. However, there are additional requirements for officer applicants and the selection process is different given that the roles and responsibilities are different.
    Visit our website and click on “recruiting” for requirements.
    For volunteer requirements, click Community Services on the menu bar then Volunteer Opportunities.

    Depending on the nature of the investigation the money may be seized if required as part of evidence, or would be returned to the persons next-of-kin along with the rest of the victim’s personal effects.

    Well it's good to know there are actually humans answering these messages. It always feels like I'm going out on a limb to find answers these days.
    Everytime I ask someone "are the circumstances to apply to be a cop and a volunteer the same or different?" I always get completely different answers. I didn't think it was rocket science. Just a simple yes or no. But isn't it better to be honest and say "I don't know" than to say something wrong and end up offending someone or upsetting them?

    I think most people are already well aware that murder investigations are highly complex. Just the length of time from crime to arrest to judgement makes that pretty obvious. While there was nothing in the video that it was a real revelation, it was still quite interesting and had reasonable production values. I do sort of question if it is a good use of taxpayer dollars however, something perhaps better left to mainstream media, which might end up with a more engaging story.

    Hey, I've always wondered about those suspect line ups. Are all of them messed up people and criminals or some of them normal people?

  • @Police-Officer-Fan-Club
    @Police-Officer-Fan-Club 12 лет назад

    I know this if off topic, but I've always wondered what happens to the money you find on dead bodies...
    Do you usually bag it for evidence, send it back to the bank, give it to their next immediate family or keep it for yourselves? (Not meaning to be rude, of course)
    But I just had to ask cause' CSI never goes into that much detail haha..

  • @Police-Officer-Fan-Club
    @Police-Officer-Fan-Club 12 лет назад

    So in other words, if it was a gang banger/mugger/drug dealer.. then the money is seized. But if he was a totally normal guy with no priors then the money is returned to the family.. right?
    Well thanks, that's some good information to know.
