That third touchdown from Moss is just ridiculous. Defender had the angle on him and everything. Moss even hesitated for a half second on whether to cut back or not and he still outran him.
The cutback was actually just a starter to slow up the DB. Moss was the king of reading the defenders and manipulating them into being flat footed while he would simultaneously kick it into gear.

Awesome. I think this is the 3rd or 4th 1998 Vikings game you've uploaded, and I never get tired of seeing how dominant that offense was that year. Carter, Moss, Reed, Smith...the weapons were remarkable. It's a shame the world didn't get the matchup they wanted in the Super Bowl with the Broncos and Vikings. Even though the Vikings lost, I still think they were the better team 7/10 times.
It would have been one of the three most watched Super Bowls ever. And it would have been a great game. The oddsmakers would have set the total at 59 or 60, and it still would have gone over. Gary Anderson cost America a great Super Bowl and the Vikings a potential ring.
@@jackkitchen737 Gary Anderson didn't cost us anything! That was his first missed FG all year, and the team depended too heavily on him. He’s right there. Rice was absolutely amazing. Not as fluid as Moss, but there is a reason people call home the GOAT football players not just wide receiver. That said: I’d take Moss 1b if not 1a.
They also got destroyed by Denver who actually ended up winning the Super Bowl that year, but make no mistake, this wasn’t the Cowboys from the early 90s.
I was 13yrs old and on the 50yd line 5 rows up. The cowboys were supposed to draft moss that year and Jerry stopped it last minute. Moss was out for revenge and damn did he get it. I’ve never seen anything like that or since in person.
Even though this was the end of the Cowboys dynasty of the 90s, the "triplets" of Aikman, Irving, and Smith had a great game and fought to the end and despite Moss's dominance still made the score respectable. Btw, the Cowboys passed on Moss, like the other 20 teams, and Moss, who was a Cowboys' fan, said they would pay for that before this game. AND THEY DID!
As a Cowboys fan, this game still pains me.. The Cowboys needed a WR since Michael Irvin was getting older. We had the 8th pick that year and we told Randy Moss before the draft that if he were available, we would draft him. We ended up passing on him for Greg Ellis cause of his “off the field concerns.” Moss was pissed. He wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy and they had lied to him. So he always held a personal vendetta against Dallas. This game was his way of saying, “Fuck you” to us lol. I’m still salty. He should’ve been a Cowboy! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Our Cowboys never won a single game against Randy Moss, and looking back, we deserved it too, not only because of the sheer talent our team passed up on, but also because that decision alone launched a domino effect that set the franchise back considerably. 1999 - Michael Irvin suffers a career ending injury, leaving the franchise without a Hall of Fame receiver. 2000 - Dallas proceeds to trade 2 first round picks for Joey Galloway, which backfires completely. The first of those picks is used on future MVP Shaun Alexander, while Galloway's tenure in Dallas was marred by injury. Had the Cowboys taken Moss, this trade likely would never have happened. 2001 - Troy Aikman retires, and the Cowboys are now desperate to find a successor immediately. Without a first round pick, 2 Quarterbacks go off the board (Michael Vick, 1st overall, and Drew Brees, 32nd overall) before Dallas is finally on the clock, and they take Quincy Carter. Clearly, Dallas would've been better off with that first round pick, as Carter's career, along with the Cowboys fortunes, was ruined by his personal demons, and while Vick would have been out of Dallas's reach, they still could've had Drew Brees (who at the time was a 2nd round pick, and the position Brees was drafted at would be a first round pick today). So imagine a Cowboys team with Moss and Brees, with Shaun Alexander waiting in the wings after Emmitt retires with the rushing record. Their fortunes would be a lot better than they ultimately ended up being.
Dion R yeah, that true the Cowboys never beat Moss even once. 0-5 against the Vikings, 0-1 against the Raiders, 0-1 against the Patriots, and they never played when he was on the 49ers. My Bills have 1 win against him when he was on the Vikings in 2002, but he also played on our division for 3 years while he was on the Pats and the Bills never got 1 win against the Pats in that time.
The Vikings 2 game stretch vs Green Bay the previous Sunday and this game against Dallas was probably the most dominant stretch that I have ever seen by a WR. In 2 games, Moss had 321 yards and 4 TDs. Randy completely shredded the Packer secondary for 158 yards. And against Dallas, he took dominance to a whole new level with 163 on just 3 receptions, all for TDs! The season that Randy had in '98 has now become something that might never be seen again.
The very thought of my Dallas Cowboys passing up on this dude still haunts me to this day! We deserved to get our asses kicked every time we played him, plain and simple!
The fact this viking team in all 16 regular season games and 2 playoff games scored a minimum 24 points per game how this team couldn't get the superbowl is just heartbreak.
This game was special because 1998 was supposed to be a return to glory for Dallas after a down and dysfunctional 1997. While you cannot say that the dynasty Cowboys of the early '90s were present on the field, it certainly felt like a vestige of it showed up. Despite the Cowboys legitimately 'bringing it' for the special Thanksgiving home game, the Vikings still handily won with a more cutting edge-feeling offense.
You can see why aikman , Irvin and smith were hall of famers . Even though they were outmatched in other areas in 98’ past the SB years , They never quit ! The little things that made them great

The graphic after Randy Moss's third touchdown could have included that he had a fourth reception in the end zone that counted for two points [he had 20 points total]. Leroy Hoard scored a touchdown after another pass to Moss resulted in a 1st down due to DPI.
Moss' legendary performance was sealed by the broadcasting of two legends in their own rights, the late Pat Summerall and Coach John Madden on Thanksgiving day.
We missed the Cunningham/Carter force when they headed west from Philadelphia, but I relished this game on top of all that turkey. Cunningham...still my favorite Eagle, and nobody threw it with as much grace as Randall.

The graphic after Randy Moss's third touchdown could have included that he had a fourth reception in the end zone that counted for two points [he had 20 points total].
Leroy Hoard scored a touchdown after another pass to Moss resulted in a 1st down due to DPI.
Randy Moss is on of the Greatest Vikings of all time and that's a fact jack!
One team had the some of the best receivers ever and the other had the best RB
Moss' legendary performance was sealed by the broadcasting of two legends in their own rights, the late Pat Summerall and Coach John Madden on Thanksgiving day.
More randy please🙏🏾🔥🐐
Love the shot of Zimmer at 7:30 lol
I watched that game in Texas in a house full of Cowboys fans. It was a great day!
I thought that Monday night game in Green Bay did more
12:18 nailed it 😂
Love Madden
Correct me if i am wrong but i thought randy also caught a pass for a 2 point conversion. Does that not count as 4 passes caught, etc?
It’s been 20 years, and there still hasn’t been a WR with a skill set similar to Moss.
I really sucks that he never won a Super Bowl 🏈
WHO
We missed the Cunningham/Carter force when they headed west from Philadelphia, but I relished this game on top of all that turkey. Cunningham...still my favorite Eagle, and nobody threw it with as much grace as Randall.
Moss almost had another long catch and possible TD but he dropped it. Amazing.
He had already been a legend for years before this in Huntington, WV.(Marshall University)
Yes your so right
Seeing rookie Randy Moss dominate my team on Thanksgiving, knowing that we could have literally drafted him, was a painful experience 😩
2 boys videos in a row nice
Randy Moss to the Cowboys: "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR NOT DRAFTING ME"😁😁😁😁
All Cris Carter Does Is Catch Touchdowns.
Randy Moss- Challenge Accepted.
He could take over games. At Marshall,in the National Championship game rematch against the Griz,he was unstoppable. If I remember right,we were watching from a fantastic little bar in Livingston,Mt,the Rainbow.Down by alot at halftime,Griz kicked off to srart the 3rd quarter.Moss runs it back for a score!Oh,*#$@.What a player.
