    My first year as a Giants fan was in 1985 and I still get chills thinking about that division game against Bears. That was a truly great team.

      at the time I was disappointed that SUmmerall and Madden didn't call the 1985/86 Superbowl for the Bears but Enberg and Olson, in retrospect were good too.

    I think that football game was the best Bear game I've ever seen. More fun to watch than the Superbowl. That game if you weren't a Bear fan was a boring blowout

      And Walter Payton didn't even get to score a touchdown in his only Super Bowl appearance of his career..

      This game was great.That defense was not letting up for no one.They shut Dickerson down and the pass rush for the bears was just non stop cuz the run game was non existent cuz no run game

    That defense was straight up illegal! By todays NFL standards, that bear defense would be showered with yellow flags!

      Only "illegal" by retrospective application of contemporary rules. In 85 those were the rules. That's why most stats are not comparable.

    After the Death of Kennedy I watched the Bears win the "63" NFL Championship then some lean times! a spark in "77"....."83 84" then Superbowl 1985! The only time I made Big Money betting on the Bears! I read in the Sun Times where a Chicago Butcher remortgaged his house and went to Vegas and put it all on the Bears! So I took all my "85" winnings plus the playoffs and rolled into the under & spread plus side bets and had to give 20 points away for anyone to take the bets! Had a Great Super Party and won $750 dollars! That day I let everyone know in Houston I was a Bear Fan from the Southside of CHICAGO! Win, lose or draw I've always been proud of the Chicago Bears! But those "85" Bears playoffs games & the Superbowl! I was puffed up like the day my Son was born in "77"! But not sure if I would've been? If I hadn't read about that Chicago Butcher! But I believe Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears will start their ascension in 2025 to the Superbowl! Hell maybe I'll remortgage my home this time? I love rewatching the "85" Season! CMTFU!

    57% completion, 2,392 yards, 15 TD, 11 INT and he was #2 QB in the NFC…how the NFL has become a passing game since…and why the bears thought for my whole life that they didnt need a prolific QB, Jim Mcmahon was cool but trash in reality compared to todays levels of qb skill

    • @johnathonarnold9070
      @johnathonarnold9070 2 месяца назад +9

      McMahon and his generation were not trash. The league is engineered for qbs and offense now. No one has to take the kind of late hits and shots McMahon and his generation had too. It’s why he was always injured. Not to mention the pass interference rules and how they are enforced now. Watch this again and count how many penalties for roughing the passer and P I you would call in today’s game. It’s not even closes, modern qbs would have statistically different seasons if they had to play like this.

      He won 25 consecutive starts a record that still stands!! Modern QBs would not survive 1 week if they had to play in the league McMahon did or played his style of play, he was one of the greatest clutch QBs in history of the league and one hell of a leader with intangibles modern QBs could never sniff.

      @@hermeticxhaote4723 Mac was a tuff sob but he said he didn’t like working out or watching tape, you could run and D your team to Ws then you absolutely cant get away with not having elite QB characteristics now. In the 80s you could persist through pure toughness and moxie now its 24/7 365 focus on passing efficacy by the best of the best….guess i see Mac as great personality and intangibles yes, but its just those qualities used to be mythologized now “maholmsing” the league with 50-60 passes a game with no look arm angle dimes and dots. …in mac i see the misguided apparent organizational miscalculation that QBs aren’t the engine/trans and breaks driving team success and burying organizations futures

      @@Mind-your-own-beeswax I agree but that win is one of the reasons that I think Marino was the best QB I've seen. No-one else could have stood in against the pass rush and made the throws he did. That quick release; never been bettered. As you say, they also got lucky, which happens in football.
