Rolex is basically a Toyota. Really really good product. And really really good resale value.

I agree with what you said about the wait list. They probably have the watches in stock but want to keep the illusion. About 2 months ago I walked in to an AD and happened be talk to the manager. I told him what I was looking for and he took me to one of his sales associates to take down my info and basically get on the wait list. While talking to the sale person they told me it was going to be about 1-2 years wait. After about 10 minutes the manager shows up with the watch that I wanted and left the AD wearing it.

Went to my Rolex AD tried on a OP and went on the wait list for one over a year ago. Since then I've had my head turned by a grand Seiko now. It's a dumb business model. Good luck with that rolex
They aren't targeting u ad a customer. People that buy rolexes have very deep pockets in a lot of cases
I have a small/moderate purchase history, been on waitlist for BLRO since Nov 2020, checkup all the time too. I’ve pretty much lost all my enthusiasm to get one.
Walked into an AD over the weekend, I have a purchase history of a Grand Seiko and Sub. I was told that a Pepsi will never happen and maybe a Batman, but don’t count on it. I also inquired about a basic OP, was told they won’t stock them because they can make more selling a few high end pieces than dealing with all those low end pieces. So maybe the waiting game for some watches is over, for others, still get laughed at…..
Been waiting two and a half years on the so called’ waitlist’ for a Pepsi GMT . Don’t ever expect that call to happen
Same here. I get a boilerplate canned response from my AD everyone I inquire.
I went grey for that and I suggest you do too. AD’s have been getting less and less of those and I’d say it’s black Daytona level of difficulty in terms of acquiring one. Not sure about the rumors of discontinuation but you never know

I finally got my first Rolex from my AD. A few months ago I received a text if I was interested in a Air King. one of the three watchs on my list. I said yes and received a call from the manager. Three plus years of waiting.

10th of feb walked in my local Ad in the U.K., bought a dj41 Wimbledon, fluted with jubilee £9200.
Question: If the wait-list times are reduced, what happens to the dealers with larger stocks of Rolex?
They go bust.
They find a new job. Nobody likes scalpers.
Just left an AD who had zero stock for sale… always a treat to see a clueless customer throwing a tantrum cause he thought you could just walk in and buy one.
Guy summed it up perfectly - it's an illusion of exclusivity. A mass produced watch "hard to get". Grey dealers creating a narrative of "supply / demand" so they have a market to resell a watch and make a few bucks. It's a system that feeds itself but will implode at some point. Once people get a whiff that exclusivity is done, then the demand will truly slow down and there will be a surplus but Rolex learned something with this game they are playing and with the right people they will somehow keep it going. Someone will always be left holding the proverbial bag and over-spending for a watch with zero precious metals in it all based on hype.

There are so many great brands out there, other than Rolex and Patek
expressed an interest in a white dial speedmaster. Wasnt expecting much. Got a call the next day with an offer. Very pleased.

I got a Batman about 3 weeks ago through a family member who knew a AD and he got the Batman for me in 4 days which I didn’t expect for a few months. Took me by suprise as I was planning to get it later in the year for my wife’s 15th anniversary. But she got it early as we got the bracelet sized up. AD told me they had a few of the higher end GMT in stock but the pepsi he was saying he hasn’t seen one come through for a 3 months. My brother waiting for that. I asked him if the coke is coming and he said he can’t answer but hinted that it was so I think I’ll ask to get the coke rather than the Pepsi.

Personally, I’m over the watch-waitlist game. At this point I wouldn’t buy another Rolex even if I found it for retail.
I got my Explorer 1 in one week this weekend…but I have bought a a Tudor from them….super excited and they 36mm fits like a glove!

You could probs get a gold one right now. The others, a lot more difficult out an AD
To flood the market or make rolex super available would be brand suicide for Rolex. The grey market has proven that people are willing to spend double for pieces and all rolex would need to do is increase pricing further (as they are already doing) if increasing “profits” was the aim. Rolex is hot in wanting to raise their status further not spoil it, they wanna be closer to the status of AP, Patek, VC etc and for most price and availability sums prestige up (not to confused with level of movements etc).
Also if not mistaken rolex is opening Rolex only stores and getting rid of ADs more and more, to retain control and avoid dodgy AD practises.
Just picked up my DJ 36 (blue, domed, oyster) from the AD recently in Seattle. I had waited 6 months, purchased one other watch with them (BB58 blue)

@@marcwalden8054 Good luck! I think that model should be easier coming than a sub with date, but who knows! I'd stop by periodically and chat and keep your name fresh. I had stopped in about a few weeks prior to getting the call and ordered a fabric strap for my Tudor and looked at some Hamilton watches.

With demand from the huge India new middle class market and continued Chinese demand, and the usual markets i cant see it happen for a lot of rolex models or patek
Although I would love to have a Rolex, I seriously doubt I will ever be able to justify getting one. If I get any top line watch, it’ll probably be an Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch, or a Seamaster Planet Ocean with the black and orange color.
With my AD, I got a Sub 114060, DJ Azzure Blue 126300, and a Rado for my mum. I'm not sure if they would consider me for the BLRO but I am going to ask soon. I dont hold any high hopes tbh
there are a lot on the grey market so I imagine if you are wanting a Rolex you can shop around.

To be honest, at least here in Switzerland you see demand cooling down. Just did a video about this on my channel, you witness that in Zurich or Geneva Bucherer (and other retailers) adding new names on their waitlists. The Post-Covid boom is slowly coming to an end here.. Top video Federico - as always! :)

It’s never ok to be out on a waitlist…Rolex HAS the watches in the back of the store, but they just want to play with you… STOP SIMPING for these watches. Buy yourself a JLC reverso or a Breguet like a real man and get REAL street cred from REAL watch enthusiasts…

Been patiently waiting on mine since October so I disagree..the waitlists are not only still there........they are just as long as always. But when the call comes......Im going to pick it up. Its not the AD's fault that they have to wait on arrival.

I waited 10 months for AD to give me the call for the Rolex Starbucks. So what did I do…picked it up of course…$10,800. Way better than the gray market….
Talking to an AD at Munic Airport Germany and they had a lot there but just for display. They bag that there will be more demand and want to sell the stuff, not hide. It’s a business model that only work than there is something to sell, they tired of saying no and sorry.

There are definitely still waitlists at my ADs. Not that I am in the market, I was there to buy some jewelry but I asked all the same and they had nothing in stock. Not even DJs. They did say they could order one and the wait "probably isn't as long as you are thinking" but I've been told that before and three years and $10k+++ of other stuff later still haven't heard a thing.
While I don’t like the idea of their model with fucking around with people I understand it. My friend just got a Batman gmt waited like 3 months after he went to the AD.

I’m on the waitlist at 4 AD’s for a two tone DateJust chocolate rose gold, an explorer II white dial or a root beer two tone GMT. Been on the wait list for quite some time. I check in regularly… two of them are dealers owned by Rolex themselves that they acquired recently with their purchase of Bucherer. So I can confirm, as of February 2024 there are still wait lists…

There are no AD wait list. It’s all about the money you spend , and if you’re a “common man” it’s about the relationship you build with them.. if you’re lucky.

I spent $50k a week ago in a watch dealer and thought just for giggles I would drop the R word and see the reaction. I’ve never actually seriously wanted one or gone beyond wandering round their boutique in an airport or mall and passing remarks wondering what all these sales people were doing there with nothing to sell. It’s impossible to be ignorant to the game, teenagers in the gym locker room talk up their Rolex strategy, but compared to most people here I’m what you would call the clueless or deeply uninterested in the Rolex game guy.
Anyway just because I won’t have the opportunity again for a few years and there’s a nice looking white face Explorer sitting in a display case at my hotel. I’ll act interested and see if they had interest in me as a customer.
Nada, not interested, nothing to sell. Probably bad for them, as even if they were… I’d have likely tried it and said no thanks, it’s nice but I’ll stick with what originally caught my eye when I walked in, not actually intending to buy anything.

They will always under-supply is my info. Don’t believe the Rolex supply story. So expect to keep Begging and grovelling at a Rolex AD, just to spend your own money, when there’s lots of good watch brands that treat you well. If people want to do that, that’s their choice, but leave me out of it thanks.
In April 2023 i went into the AD at Mohegan Sun Casino in Ct,, i inquired about a two tone black and yellow submariner on display and asked how much, they told and then said it is not for sale, would you like to get on the list for delivery ? Yes of course i would they explained there was no guarantee i would ever get the watch, understood i said. Two months later the AD called and said come and get your watch !!! WOW couldn't be happier
