I miss Pike and think that Pike is a far better character than Yasha, but I also know that that is only because Pike was a fully fleshed out character that had a lot of play time under her belt. As it stands Travis has actively played Yasha more than Ashley has, and he only backburn plays her. I look forward to when Ashley actuallys gets to play Yasha more fully and develope her beyond an episode here and there.
But Ashley herself so belongs in Critical Role and her just laying into Riegel feels natural and right, so much so that I always perk up when she is able to come back and play. Although I do still miss the late night drunk Pike ramblings.

I love Fjord's inferiority complex with other half-orcs. He is so uncomfortable around them xD
Inferiority complex is a little exaggerated. Overcompensation which can be part of an inferiority complex is kind of normal. It is how one finds out thier weaknesses and strive for another goal. He is gathering power in service of his god and studying magic. Fjord doesn't have a low self-esteem, and tend to be hyper sensitive and lash out. Pointing out the shortcomings of others. That's not to say he MAY have an inferiority complex but compensating is normal. Edit: it's still funny
I would like to believe that growing up in an orphanage Fjord had little interaction with other Orcs and was told constantly by others that Orcs are these savage uncivilized monsters and that by that extension so is he. He's apprehension around them is due to this innate prejudice that has been hammered into him by those he grew up around. I would bet the first person to ever show any sign of respect or compassion towards him was his captain Vandread and this is why he wants to be like him. On one hand he has these stories from his childhood of the dangerous Orcs in the back of his mind but is trying to act the way Vandread would in this situation. Its why he can't just talk to them like he would any other race or person because on some level he just wants to ask them everything, who their family is, does he recognize him or his features, are the stories true about them but is trying to act the way Vandread would and be respectful of this person and their profession.
I doubt this is Travis rationale, but it'd make a lot of sense for him to be uncomfortable when you consider reasons for size difference of real life hybrids.
Both Hinny and a Mule are half horse half donkey. They have the same genetic inheritance, but different epigenetic imprinting and crucially - develop in wombs of different size.
And again, I doubt this is why Matt does this to Travis, but an Orc-sized half-orc would be more likely to be born out of a female orc and some gym-bro coming to terms with his love for mounds of muscle. A human-sized half-orc makes for more likely tragic origin story.
All that said, pretty sure they'rejust giving Travis shit for being buff, just thought this'd be interesting for Caduceus.
You guys in the reply say hes just feels uncomfortable but what about the time fjord made himself just a more muscular version of himself when they first arrived at the city of beasts

I know right, the last time they went to look for potions I was like why don't they just buy ingredients. Also until they split up they have Nott's hubby who appears to be really talented as well.
@@IaIaCthulhuFtagn IIRC one of the downsides is a full day of downtime needed per potion, sometimes time is worth it more than money(Only 30 min in the episode so I retract my statement if he just spent time sitting around)
@@joemaff7448 Matt seems to let them do crafting and such while they travel if they have the mats, and likely adding a higher dc roll when they do. Plus they had quite a while where Nott's hubby could be making them and handing them out when they get back to the house.
Between him and Yeza and Nott they should be able to make some great potions.

Can we just talk about how great a player Ashley is? She's not always there, but when she is, she's always in character, always takes notes, always puts in 100%.
And she really puts the icing on the cake when it comes to making Yasha this giant, awkward, flower collecting sweetheart that will kill you if you look wrong at her friends.
Ashley is the best of all of us.
i do a little dance every time ashley is around
And she probably watches all the episodes she's not there for.

I like how Talison is always considering supplies provisions food and general comfort during travel. Buying tents and wagon covers. One could argue that it's arbitrary but it's nice for the immersion. It's like when you buy your rpg video game character a nice meal it's meaningless but still enjoyable for some reason

I love Fjord! I 'bout died!
I would not doubt if the entire party was turned on. That was insanely sexy and badass of Fjord. Usually he's much more passive in most of his interactions, it's nice to see him being forceful and assertive.
they need to let him talk more
I have never been more aroused by Fjord.
Travis with that big dad energy.
Biiiig CEO energy. I was impressed!
31:39 The subtle thing that Matt did here was great. When first describing what the orc looked like, he mentioned that he had tattoos, but nothing more. Then, when the sword was passed from Cad to the orc, he gave a more detailed description of the ink.
This worked in 2 ways:
-It didn't overload the players and the viewers with too much visual information at the start
-It was realistic, because the closer his arm is to Cad, the more detail he could perceive increases
And then, 10 minutes after handing the bladeless hilt to the blacksmith, Caleb and Beau find a magic blade with no hilt. AND NOBODY SAID A FUCKING WORD.
When they mention the blade just after the break (when running through the magic items) Laura whispers something to Taliesin. I think it was noticed.
@@dudemcfurgusson7179 They definitely did. Travis asks if Caleb detected magic, Matt says it's faint. Travis then mimes to Taliesin putting the blade and hilt together and the possibility of it being powerful. 1:16:08

"Here's 20 Platinum" can you imagine your reunited wife dropping $20,000 in your lap and saying "be cool, ill be back in 3 days"
If he'd been like Jester, he'd sent a message 3h later asking for more money XD
20 plat is 200 gold
@@Steveodelux1 at 1 oz per coin (pretty standard) that is almost $18,000 on today's market. I was spitballing.
@@jacobsonmg I don't think D&D gold really translates to a real-life market quite that closely, but based on Matt's pricing of various things (like the price of a high quality meal or fine booze) we could guestimate that a gold coin is worth something like $15. (I think they've spent something like 30 gold for fine wine before, which I'd guess would be in the $150 range.) A platinum is worth 10x that much, so 20 platinum would probably be something around $3000. But it's hard to say and I could see it getting closer to $6000.
This would put the price of a simple healing potion at around $750, so honestly that estimation could even be a little high. But considering 50 gold is considered a large sum of money to the average person, a potion of healing probably would be considered a luxury to most.
But in a fantasy world, the relative value of various goods is going to be rather different from the real world anyway so values could be pretty out-of-whack anyway. No matter how you cut it though, that's a lot of money to dump on someone who is clearly not used to anything near that much wealth.
Based entirely on vague memories of prices of things and not well researched. :P
@@t3hsilarn $750 for potion that heals 2-6 HP. Thats better than American healthcare system, lol. I want to run a campaign where my cleric is a health insurance salesperson who is hired to follow a party and provide healthcare benefits for exorbitant prices to be paid after services are rendered from a share of the loot. I thought it was really sweet around 54:30 when Sam silently noticed Laura's neck hurting, and started helping his friend with a back massage. That is such a performing arts kind of thing to do. Most of the time they are so goofy sitting next to each other, but this was a really kind moment.
Nikki Simoneaux aww I didn't notice that, thanks for catching that!
I went back to watch this, it was so sweet. It really illustrates how family close this entire group of friends is after all the time and emotion they've spent together.🥰
I noticed he was rubbing her shoulder, and I went back to just watch the whole thing because it was super sweet. Reminds me of my own friends because most of us were in choir or theater so we still give each other shoulder rubs.
There was an earlier episode when she was super pregnant and Sam spent like five minutes fanning her with a piece of paper, which was also really sweet. I love to see people taking care of each other.
Commented the same thing just a bit ago! Now catching up on all the past comments. So glad someone else caught it.
I was hoping someone else had commented on this!! Another sweet moment I noticed recently - in episode 21 (Mark Hulmes’s episode), when they were doing the outro, Laura (it looks like) felt the baby kicking and immediately excitedly turned to Sam and they just had this lovely moment of joy together. ☺️

Taliesin: "You have layers"
Me: So what, is Fjord now Shrek or something?!
I wanted someone to call him an onion _so freaking bad_
43:21 I can't help but feel that this moment is so important for Fjord. It's pretty obvious his pride's a little wounded by the overall Orc macho of the blacksmith, but when Fjord hears him say that he's not tough enough to travel all alone, it puts things into perspective. Fjord grew up a half-orc orphan abused and taken advantage of in a human-dominated environment, grinding down his tusks to fit in just a little more. I can only imagine Fjord sees Wursh as having what everyone expects him to have because Fjord grew up shifting between being 'human enough' or 'orc enough.' Hearing that even Wursh couldn't tough it to travel alone probably opens Fjord's eyes to not only how valuable his friends are, but also how much his own friends must depend on him. I love this kind of storytelling!
