I love how they think they look so shifty, but when the soldier showed up he was just like "hey, btw, random innocent civilians, be sure to steer clear of our army. Oh, you have a broken wheel? Lemme help"
Soldiers tasked with guarding a town will pay attention to how shifty people look. Soldiers headed to the front lines prob don't give a shit about obvious troublemakers, as long as they aren't the opposing force. It's a context thing. Dudes minds were elsewhere. And doing good deeds while in uniform could boost recruitment. Priorities change in times of war, these soldiers are thinking about different things than the other ones they have met who were basically on guard duty or bored as shit stationed in various towns.
@@dyslexicfaser to be fair, their experience with guards so far has seen put them in a not-so-bright light. the guards back in Trostenwald were willing to straight up just execute Gustav purely so they didn't have to put up with any further investigation. i will say, however, that Matt seems to be trying REALLY hard to paint the guards in a good light, what with the ones in Alfield and Bryce trying to help those who suffered from the gnolls, those within Zadash that ran the festival and helped the little girl with the trebuchet game, and the guy here.
@@Dracon350 It's complexity really, there was the asshole who kicked Calebs cat, asshole coin guard who fucked with Gustav. It's pretty clear though that they vary, Matt wants to emphasis there are plenty of good people in the military and guard, while there are bad apples the regular grunt isn't nessessarily bad.
Aw man, that part is so sad, bc when Beau and Jester start cawing back at Kiri, she gets so frantic (maybe she thought it were they parents coming back to rescue her)

It’s not really a low level wizard problem, it’s a part of caylebs character, he once told Jester that 50 gold is more money than his parents earned in a their combined lifetimes. He’s used to having little more than a few silver to his name.
@@deepspaceexplorer9529 they just meant that wizards (without an arcane focus) have to spend lots of money for spell components. Like having to spend 10 gold on incense every time you want to change your familiar, or hundreds of gold in paper and ink to transcribe new spells.

It seems that between ep 19 and 20, is when the group decided it was the time to separate from geek & sundry, this now on critical rolls channel! I do like all the graphical upgrade, but knowing they get rid of (I've watched a bunch of c3) it must have been too expensive, I'm guessing? The only thing I don't like is the character sheets small font and huge box that has no point. Glad they didn't stick with that, but I like the info cards on spells/abilities!
@@DarkDecimusnot expensive at all, I mean I can do it on Roll20 for free lol. It was just a live overlay and they stopped going live during covid and never started again - everything is prerecorded now. This is just the recorded VOD of the live Twitch stream, so it has the twitch plug in overlay.
Considering that magic exists and some people can conjure animal familiars or even become those animals, a pigeon information-gathering organization is possible if not likely
He did it to get better at Jester, the last time he had to do it, Laura was sick and he was unprepared. He said on Talks Machina that he'd be working on it. Now he gets to do it, call and response, with Laura. Best way to get it right.
I think she made Yasha shy because she isn't there physically that much. If she was outgoing and a mover of the action, it would be really difficult to go on with the story when she's not there.
In everything I have seen Ashley is super shy too. Not just a Yasha thing. but she shines when among friends like these and she has a great and often brutal imagination.
Some of the player-character duos just always vibe across campaigns. I think Liam really loves all of Marisha’s characters. Same with Laura’s obviously. And Laura’s and Marisha’s characters also always connect in each campaign. Not that it prevents the other characters and players from forming special relationships in dif campaigns, and you can tell when they enjoy another character without having the closest in game relationship. But the Liam-Laura, Laura-Marisha, and Liam-Marisha (though slightly less in C3) pairings maintain.
Watching critical role is great but it is also some kind of self-torture. Feeling envious all the way about the brilliant, balanced, harmonious friendship and creativeness they have. Those guys are so lucky to have each other. And I guess we are lucky that they have decided to share this with us and that we have somehow discovered and started watching crit role.
I take it as a set of valuable lessons on how to acquire and maintain a supportive group of friends. Step 1: Find your local game store. Step 2. Start playing. Step 3. Be a supportive friend in return. I really like the results so far 👍
Marisha: calls Talesin Percy Everyone: Oh my god that's the first time one of us has done that! Me: has a Caleb moment and remembers when Liam called Marisha Keylith in like Ep.2 and Ashley has called Travis Grog at least twice
I believe they were referring to calling Taliesin Percy specifically, not to getting each others' names wrong in general. Taliesin just WAS Molly immediately with no transition required, whereas they struggled a bit more with everyone else.
Witch Bolt component: "A twig from a tree that has been struck by lightning" Fjord: 1:06:04 It's really cool how they pay attention to the material components of their spells. Just like with Caleb and Nott using the components when they cast
Yasha is somehow the edgiest, most mysterious character in the entire show, but she's also a devoted follower of a being few worship and collects flowers and bits of nature to bring back for a friend. She's the most wholesome, badass character.
I tip my hat to Matt for binging in the repeating bird. Genius move to throw comedic wordplay in whenever he wants. He really is one of the greatest DM's ever.
I both called Liam a nerd out loud for already knowing about the kenku and immediately figured that Kiri was a Kenku when Matt first said “bird creature”

Thought it was relevant

When they skipped the break I literally said out loud “that’s illegal” because I liked to see the art. But they did have the art in the end like normal so all is well
It was during the transition from Geek and Sundry to their own channel, right? Probably didn't want to promote shows they were no longer affiliated with.
I just love how normally she's this awkward, introverted woman with this shy humor, and these precious cute little mannerisms, but once they enter combat she turns into a killing machine. Yasha, during her watch: talks innocently about how nice grass is, and collects flowers for her little collection she keeps in a book. Yasha an hour later when they're ambushed: Turns into a literal angel of death with black eyes, skeletal wings, dims the campfire with her sheer aura of darkness, kills every enemy in sight and literally scares a bloodthirty giant ogre.

Priorities change in times of war, these soldiers are thinking about different things than the other ones they have met who were basically on guard duty or bored as shit stationed in various towns.

yasha is so shy that ashley barely gets to showcase how funny she is, but this episode finally allowed her to make some jokes and i love it
I think she made Yasha shy because she isn't there physically that much. If she was outgoing and a mover of the action, it would be really difficult to go on with the story when she's not there.

@@DaddyWarCrimes78 I was thinking about that too.
