I always thought the pattern on masking tape looks like woodgrain. It must produce that texture during manufacturing...? Thanks Daniel - you're always on the edge of unique discoveries! ✌
Realised it looks like tigers eye. If you mixed gold with a tad of chocolate brown it'd be a convincing tigers eye stone effect 👌 you're a genius matey. X
When you did the first one, straight on the tape and then backed it, it made me think of the faux leather buttons you used to get on mens cardigans back in the day. Then I thought I could make my own buttons for my sewing by simply drilling holes in them. Thanks for the inspiration, as always.
They make button molds in various sizes. They aren't terribly expensive either and saves the trouble of drilling the holes lol. A button mold was the first mold I ever made with mold putty 😊
These remind me of the expensive lampwork beads with gold leaf inside. A great effect, and for once, something you don't need extra tools for. I don't know if you use metal leaf in your projects, but I'd like to see, how that would work as a backing instead of mica. I also started thinking, since masking tape really doesn't bond with resin...what if you made some intentional folds on a piece of masking tape, then added the mica, then resin. You'd get the pattern from the tape, and possibly some stronger lines from the folds. I'll need to start a list of all the things I need to test once the weather warms up. Unless you try them first 😄.
Try it with Washi tape. It's essentially masking tape but it's pretty and coloured for journalling and crafting etc. Bet it would pick the pattern up from that. I'll try it in an hour and shout back. Hope you're good DC. X
These are awesome. Love that gold and black heart. The black definitely pops that pattern. Maybe some of your glow in the dark mica behind the black pattern could be cool. But the gold has a lovely quality to it. Well done yet again. ❤❤
As always, you've made my mind explode with ideas! I love how you think! You must have been very busy as a child, lol i can only imagine as i had a child like that. I love your creativity ❤❤❤.
Daniel I like to use aluminum foil crumpled up and then smoothed again to texture metal in my rolling mill. I bet this would also work great to give you cool texture on the resin.
I've always loved the texture of masking tape. This is so cool, Daniel! I like the black and gold heart best, too! 👍😊 HEY! Can you use chameleon powder on the tape?
the black reminded me of newsprint, super small, maybe miniature newsprint. this is an interesting idea, I'll be watching for more projects using masking tape! Now I know what to do with all the clear glass cabochons I have!
Love the other colors as well! It's like you don't need to use holographic paper. Try a dark brown with the gold. That's what's on my tigereye stone. ❤
Daniel, you & your experiments never cease to amaze me !! You certainly are a resin artist that totally thinks outside the box. I love your experiments & your videos. Thank you for all your videos !!
Congrats Daniel. You always come up with very interesting experiments. This one also rocks🤘Maybe you can try to get a nice fingerprint or lipprint on clear tape?!
Oooo so cool! Do you think there are other things this might work on? Like textured wallpaper with a thin coat of wax so resin doesnt stick? Free samples too lol!
Wow!!! I have learned to look at things with greater detail always looking for that next great adventurous project!!!! Now I can add one more thanks to you Daniel!!!! Love love it!!!!!
My brain is swimming. I see a wide variety of uses from landscapes to eyeballs, fingerprints. You could make your own buttons. Very cool idea Dan. Well done!!
Oh my word where do you get your ideas from, this is just amazing and has so many alternatives to explore. Many thanks for your brilliant inspiration 🙌👏👍
The stripes are actually minuscule _pleating,_ so as you can easily go around corners - or accommodate uneven or bumpy walls and woodwork when you're decorating. 😬 Your experiment looks like bark glass - what a brilliant discovery, Daniel! Love the orchid and seaglass combo. 💗
Just started, and you're already cracking me up, Daniel. Hehehe I love your sense of humour. And of course the incredible creativity. That goes without saying.
I love your experimental discovery style. It begins with a plan and the goal of learning whether or not it is valid. I also agree I think you could create a Tigers eye effect. My suggestion would be some holographic nail foil. The kind that requires glue for adhesion. Great job D
It definitely has a natural, tree bark or leather feel to it. I was looking at your gloves and wondered what using those would look like, or even if it would work at all ...
Yes, also brick/stone, certain fabrics like hessian or wools for example, metal textures. The ideas are limitless, there's going to be blobs of resin all over my house and garden now.😃
I always thought the pattern on masking tape looks like woodgrain. It must produce that texture during manufacturing...?
Thanks Daniel - you're always on the edge of unique discoveries! ✌
It really does, I wonder if I could use wood colors! That would be awesome!
Realised it looks like tigers eye. If you mixed gold with a tad of chocolate brown it'd be a convincing tigers eye stone effect 👌 you're a genius matey. X
Thanks, yes, a little like tigers eye 🥰
You took the words right out my mouth! Lol. It's so like tiger's eye. ❤
Loving this Daniel, another genius idea. We all have masking tape in our lives lol
Oh, I'm definitely going to try this out. You could use little ones like gems to put in other projects. Thanks for the great idea 😊
Oh to have 5 minutes inside your brain. You’re one of the most creative people I’ve ever seen. Thanks once again for this new technique. 😊
Thanks so much 🙏
That kinda reminds me of tiger eye. Looks good
Thanks Lynn 😊 yes, pretty close 😊
That is wild. Loved the pink one. Love now we can put a face to the voice❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you as always 😊

I like the idea with the folds.
The folds are a great idea, could fan them in theory 🤩
The gold leaf or any of the colours you can get, would look cool too.
@@daniel..cooper Right?! I hope you give it a try!
This is just the thing I need for some flower centers. Thank you for the information.
You’re welcome 😊
WOW WOW WOW. Haven't been well but have watched and liked in the absence of any comments.
Thanks Morag, hope you are feeling better 🥰

Thanks Sarah, haven't tried that yet 😊

SMH 😲 You never cease to amaze me. These beautiful pendants from masking tape. 😍
Thanks so much 🥰🙏
These are awesome. Love that gold and black heart. The black definitely pops that pattern. Maybe some of your glow in the dark mica behind the black pattern could be cool. But the gold has a lovely quality to it. Well done yet again. ❤❤

This is amazing. Isn’t it funny how we look at everyday items differently? All thanks to resin. 🤩
Daniel I like to use aluminum foil crumpled up and then smoothed again to texture metal in my rolling mill. I bet this would also work great to give you cool texture on the resin.
Ooh, this sounds fun! Will try soon, thank you 😊
I've always loved the texture of masking tape. This is so cool, Daniel! I like the black and gold heart best, too! 👍😊
HEY! Can you use chameleon powder on the tape?
Thank you 😊 Yes, any powder should work but the darker the better I think 😊
So easy and done cheaply for amazing results. Thats what happens when you look at things differently! Beauty!

Yes, possibly, if you have the Oyumaru I have using in recent vids, that may work better to pick up the patterns or textures 😁
This is amazing, tysm Daniel. Have the best weekend with your family x
Thank you! You too! 🥰
This is really fun. Thanks for sharing. I love your experiments.

I like them all, but I do appreciate the black and gold as I said, it reminds me of the golden pyramid in Egypt beautiful
