thank you so much for putting this up, I was so curious as to what this sounded like when i was reading about this. It's amazing that there is a recording!!! :D
those booming guys didnt expect they are witnesses of epic gig in cure history and end of the greatest cure era... synth - guy from zerra1 opener band on pornography tour
Hell, I never knew this even got recorded! Wow, an excellent improv too, considering the situation!!! Biddles sounds like he's trying to mock Robert, by being a drunk Smithy....
The voice sceaming 5:43 is so creepy ! It look like hell. But i am glad THE CURE still existing. I recommand to all to listen THE GLOVE and JAPANESE WHISPERS : This is the redemption of theese dark trilogy :) Tanks for this vidéo.
And then, for the next 18 months or so, Robert and Simon would cool off and go their separate ways... Robert would re-form The Cure with new bassist Phil Thornalley (who engineered the Pornography LP) and new drummer Andy Anderson (who replaced Lol after the latter switched to keyboards) while at the same time becoming the guitarist for Siouxsie & the Banshees (for the second time), while Simon formed a new band called Fools Dance (originally called Cry--but the name was changed after they learned there already was a band by that name) with Gary Biddles and former Cure keyboardist Matthieu Hartley. Though the two would make up again as early as December 1983, it would still be another year before the decision to get Simon back was a serious one.
I really enjoyed listening to this! Is he going on about fascists living under a tree at about 3:50?! Bonkers. Such a good job they got back to being buddies again :)
What an horrible piece of music, even for an improvisation... and all that barking!!! No wonder the crowd is booing afterward. Listening to this makes you see (or ear) that the band was, indeed, in the middle of a big crisis. Pretty ugly.
"How to watch a band fall apart in 10 easy minutes"
Wow, such a notorious bit of Cure history, amazing to actually hear.

This is even more amazing than I always imagined it.
How tragic....but so glad they are still here!
Thanks for posting. I've wondered since 1989 from the book "An Illustrated Documentary" how this sounded!
He mentions Simon at about 7:13. That can't be it though, because they keep playing for a while.
that is so fucking cool! i read about this back in the 80's but never heard this!
Woah...this is so rare. Thank you.
Oh my goodness - this is amazing.
Thanks.
Why did you pick this picture of all pictures?
YES!
I thought i would never find this.
@1981thecure We've discovered wikipedia too!
Biddles is a pretty good singer, lol. Almost as good as a Gallagher bro fight.

Hear, hear. :) And "borislych" -- thanks for uploading this!
Just think, we're listening to Gary Biddles 10:01 of fame! ;-))

ALLWAYS THE BEST.......LOVE IT!!!!!
But I love this!
awesome! i think this history was a mith!
Wow amazing, where did you find this ?
Thank you...
This sounds like the fall
Still better than "Friday I'm In Love"
It was a terrible idea for the last song of a gig especially at the end of a tour anyway. No wonder people were booing.
4:57 liar
The melody at the beginning sounds like a precursor to Push, does it not?
