My Ford has a heated windscreen, it doesn't interfere with footage. And I don't have super bright LED headlights either. Benefits of driving a basic motor :) Probably was the sunlight and headlights. If you were driving with the sun behind/at the side rather than in front your footage would prob capture the number plates. Got decent footage though
Thanks for the vid, it was really useful. Just bought one online now! It's a shame the seller I bought mine from / the apeman ad didn't say that if using both cameras you can only get 1080p.
man had i seen this before purchasing i probably would have not gotten it. i will install and test , wont post a review but may share somehow . thanks for great in depth review .
No, it was the front windscreen demistifier lines that you get on these newer cars. Same as the ones at the back windscreen to clear the mist during winter.
Your video is probably so dark because you have the exposure setting on -4. Just fitted this to my wife's car and it is pretty good. The one annoying thing is that it doesn't turn off with the ignition. The auto off is great but if it's still recording after you've switched the ignition off it doesn't turn off by itself for ages. It doesn't register that you've parked either so you have to stop recording manually and then it will auto off.
I will definitely play around with the exposure settings to see the difference. Thanks for the tip. It is definitely annoying that it doesn't turn off after the ignition is off - not sure for how long it continues recording thereafter - but I did a test and mine turns off after 3mins once the engine is off, which isn't too bad. I do have the parking monitoring on and motion sense on as well.
Most vehicle's cig lighters and USB ports have battery supplied power (they are always on). Hard wiring the power to an ignition wire might fix the problem. Not sure if these cameras have batteries or not.
Thanks for the video. I bought mine recently and during set up in the menu accidentally pressed Chinese/Asian language option and after that couldn't find English again. The camera did not come with the manual but your video at 9:32 solved my problem. Thanks
I also just bought one just got it delivered now actually by Amazon will be installing tomorrow let me know if you run into any problems that I need to know about
L Soule see that’s exactly what I was thinking. What happens if that wire jiggles loose and you catch it around your foot while driving?! Major accident can happen.
Hard wired and set the x Camera up .. exposure etc I suspect your review would be much better Honestly if I could afford that car pro hardcore and install and set up is the way to go but thanks for video
I don't want to be a killjoy but that cable job is probably one of the most atrocious things i've ever seen... :D I installed the new revision of this camera in my car last week and i have about 5-6cm of the entire cable visible and most of that is a bit of slack right at the rear camera so that the boot can be opened. The plastic trim pieces around the door opening can most likely just be pulled off with a bit of force, if you work with trim in cars you kind of get the feel for how to pull these bits off without breaking them. With those trim pieces removed the cable can be neatly tucked away underneath. The worst bit is absolutely the cable being sticky taped to the headliner.. If the cable for this older version of the camera is as long as it is for the newer one i see no reason at all for that solution. Around the rear door opening you have a rubber weatherstrip, just put the cable inside that rubber strip all the way up to where the plastic trim over the c-pillar starts. You pull that trim out a bit and you can tuck the wire behind it all the way back to the rear edge of the headliner where it can also be tucked into the headliner all the way to the camera. Again, it's your car and you do what you want with it but if you follow my tips you can get rid of that cable almost completely in your car. Especially since it looks like you have the rear camera mounted on the headliner and not on the actual boot like i had to do on my car so you don't need any slack in the rear to be able to open the boot.
I've actually re-done it using your method, hardly any cable visible now. Will be releasing that video of the new dashcam and re-wiring of the cables along the roof trims - so much better. Thanks for the feedback, always welcome :)
@@TrendingReviews I'm happy to hear it, i'm just trying to help :) Most people can't take criticism very well, not even constructive criticism. I'm glad you are not one of those people :D Oh and one thing about running cables along the sides of the headliner: many cars today have side curtain airbags, those are basically a long airbag that covers almost the entire side of the car. If your car has those then make sure to not interfere with the airbag when running your cables, that includes looking for possible interference during deployment of said airbag. I kind of assumed your car has side airbags being so modern, that's why i mentioned running the cable underneath the door sills since that is a safe area :)
Parking Monitoring only works when the car vibrates or there is some collision. If there is a hit, the camera turns on immediately and starts recording. Otherwise it remains off so it doesn't drain the battery. Full details here: images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/A1PtHC1alFS.pdf
Thanks for the upload, I’m waiting for mine to be delivered from amazon today. I was under the impression though that it was 4K but after seeing your video it seems if you have the back one on at the same time then each camera goes to 1080p, is this correct? If so I may as well have purchased a cheaper 1080 back and front camera. I paid more as thought it was 4K at the front and 1080 at the back.
Hi, no worries. You are correct, it is 1080p for both front and back if they are connected together, otherwise you can't get 4K if you have the dual setup. If you remove the back one and only use the front one, then yes, you can record in UHD. Sorry!
Trending Reviews the advert on amazon is quite deceiving then as it doesn’t stay that anywhere. I would have just purchased a 1080 front and back for half the price. I may send it back. Thanks for the response.
Any suggestions for the clear night vision I have the apeman mini version one night vision for front and rear cam are not clear at all, and want to update to this c860 if the night vision for front and rear r much better, please advise or u recommend any other model? Thanks
You have to activate parking guard when you're not driving. If parking guard is on while you're driving it will shut off and wait for motion. A bit annoying but takes a few secs to do. Plus in the in the user manual it recommends to have it off while driving. I have a 2015 Subaru Forester XT it was pretty easy to hide all the cables without them being noticeable and honestly I think it could have been accomplished with his car, it just takes a little effort to figure it out.
Apologies! Its literally just connect the Micro-USB cable to the dashcam and wire it all around to the back. It starts recording automatically as the 2nd camera to it. Nothing much else to it other than plug it in :)
Aim the camera down a bit, you don't need to record the sky and it is the sky causing it to be dark. More ground, less sky = better video 👍🏻
Also lower the exposure.
Ernie C is the exposure what makes it lighter or darker? I’m looking into dash cams and I’m not sure what exposure is exactly.
@@amberdean374 its about how much light is let into the camera. Lowering it allows for darker images since less light enters
WDR means wide dynamic range. Just means it will be clearer at night and can help to read things like car plates when on. NOT WIDE ANGLE RECORDING!
Simba papa thank you for that! I didn’t know it meant that.
Would you like this done properly hard wired and all wiring hidden
I want that but honestly have no idea where to start

Was the camera blurry because you forgot to take off the clear protective film over the lens? You can see the pull tab at 6:37

Do NOT run your wires above your pedals on the driver's side, like in this video! You should be running both wires down the passenger side!

Hey, thanks so much, man! Just bought this model, installing it this week, I really picked up a lot from your video.

Get the new C860 - They have just released v2 of it - and I just bought it myself from Amazon - This one: amzn.to/2EmGQCO
Wish i didn't have to struggle through wire management to get to what i wanted to see
Really useful. Thank you for your easy explanation
Hey man, great video, but this is not a C860
Does it record while your car is off

How do I see the video that has recorded?
You can take the SD card out and play it back on your computer.
Thanks!
This has been done in a really rushed amateur fashion.. could hide all of the wires!!
Lol!!! Nothing wrong with that!! This is how I would do it!!!!
I just had mine fitted by long term mechanic for 90quid and the wires are completely hidden. Wired into the fuse box.
