You're so right about the parking mode; the battery runs out if left on. This means that when you need it for driving, it doesn't work and is charging instead! Had to turn the parking mode off.

Was originally looking at the £30 range before realising the quality at capturing license plates is problematic at that price range. Decided to look at a higher quality ones and found Ape-man then your review. I'm convinced by your video and shall get it soon. Cheers

Great review, thanks for posting. I ordered one from Amazon a couple of days ago after watching this video. It's arrived so I'll be setting up today to replace another dual camera dash cam, which had disappointing picture quality. The footage looks amazing on this and will certainly be adequate for many years.
I just installed it this afternoon but haven't had a chance to road test it. The only worry I have is the stability of the front camera and shakiness, the mount seemed pretty flimsy when I was putting the plugs in after I stuck it to the windshield. Yes, I did notice the tightening screws but the neck of your mount looks thicker than mine. I'm excited about the rear camera, just last week I had a Range Rover zoom up behind me on the NJ Turnpike, he had to be doing 100 vs my 73 in the middle lane - I thought he was going to ram me but he veered into the right lane to pass and there was a car, he had about 2 feet of clearance so he braked hard - I took the chance to look and the windows were all tinted black - then he swerved back around behind me and into the left lane and then cut me off in the middle lane and took off like a bullet. My old front camera got his license plate and his zipping in and out of traffic but I WISH I had the footage from behind!
Can you use the short USB cable to power the camera in the car? Or is it only for connecting to the computer to view recording? I have an adapter that gives USB-A power from my rear view mirror so that short cable would be perfect.
Hi Mark. Brilliant review. I've got a question regarding the rear camera. Did sticking it over the heat lines effect it in any way, has it been ok, also i have dab radio and from speaking to same car owners they've said that rear dash cams interfere with the dab signal, have you experienced any of this. Hey, I haven’t noticed any issues yet and when I was making the review it was very likely that I had the rear window hearing on as it was December/January and pretty cold here!
The wiring for the rear camera is a very long USB cable you can fit inside your car...I tucked it under my carpets and the camera sticks on the inside of the rear windscreen
Front camera footage looks fairly blurry when the rear camera is connected. When the front camera runs without the rear camera, it records at 1440p @60fps. Once the rear camera is connected, the front camera is forced down to 1080p @30fps. Looks like garbage after that imo.
I’ve just had a look back at some footage and I’d say yes. I’ve looked at front and rear camera footage and if you pause as you pass a car you can read the number plate.
Does the readability of license plates get noticeably harder on the front cam when using in dual cam mode? (if i understand correctly, the front cam doesnt record in its full resolution when in dual cam mode?)
Hey, I guess the easiest way to do that is to drag both files into a video editor, I know you can overlap videos in Final Cut Pro, maybe iMovie does that too
I want something to actively moniter whatever is hitched to my car. I'm wondering how the camera display works. Can I use it to only stream the rear view camera onto the lsd display?
Do you still use it also how good is it at giving warnings when the sd is corrupt? I know some of the cheapest ones just pops a message, but it can be missed easily.

I noticed Apeman has an app and I was wondering if you were on it? Can you connect this dash cam to the app? Does it store footage? Can you access footage on it?
I think the app is for their GoPro style product and not for the dash cam. The dash cam stores the video on a memory card and you can play it back on a computer

Mark's Tech Vlogs Well I tried on the computer but it says it’s not compatible to play it so I use this little gadget they suggest to play the sd card on my phone and that’s when it freezes. I tried leaving it unplugged and recording and then the video played fine on my phone but when I plugged into my car and the rear camera and watch the video of that it freezes
It could be the encoding setting you have the dash cam set to. I also found that the video played best on my computer if I connected the dashcam using USB rather than removing the memory card. If your computer won’t play the video file it’s worth downloading a media player called VLC (it’s free and will play anything!)
I tried to hardwire my dash cam I could not do it there is something inside the cigarette lighter thing that is messing things up so I can't hardwire it. Stupid companies
I think that’s the screensaver setting, the red light means (I think) it’s recording. You can switch off the screensaver in settings so the screen is always on

I’ve just had a look back at some footage and I’d say yes. I’ve looked at front and rear camera footage and if you pause as you pass a car you can read the number plate.

It’s fairly prominent, it permanently sits on the screen so it’s quite hard to miss. It’s only happened to me once though

Neither, if you want to get the video off the device it’s either by connecting the usb cable to a computer or removing the memory card

Have you tried formatting the card on the device? (There’s an option in settings), if you can try another card it’s always worth doing that too
