FYI for the Floor cult, this is how the song was intended to be sung, hello? she's the original singer. Floor did a good interpretation when she sung it, but no need to dislike the original, this is what NW was known for. In case you havent notice, most reacted songs from Floor are from older albums (with Tarja). What's funny though is these fan boys arent even aware of the first 2 albums of After Forever (Floor's original band), her songs there maximized her vocal potential more than NW did.
All of us Nightwish fans should consider ourselves lucky: we have two wonderful versions of the same song with two goddesses singing!
And if you look hard enough, you can find a performance with Annette singing. Kinda painful to listen to.

Not Nightwish fans but Floor fans. Funy thing is Floor said it was her favourite Nightwish song and guess who sang it?
The funny thing is that these new Floor fans don't know the history of the band. If the stars hadn't aligned so well and Tuomas hadn't come to Tarja a long time ago and asked her to sing, there wouldn't be this symphonic, metallic sound. Originally it was an acoustic project, but after listening to Tarja, Tuomas realized that acoustic sound was not suitable for her strong voice. And it is quite logical that if there had not been Tarja then, there would not be such a Floor now. We all know that Floor's previous projects were a fiasco.
Stop disrespecting the BAND itself and enjoy the f. music!!! God, I'm tired of this debate, go to hell eveyone that ruin this people's video and disrespect Tuomas and the band members, past or present. This thing right here caused Tuomas' depression back then, shame on you...

I love this version 💖💖💖💖 The choirs and orchestra are stronger and Tarja's voice harmonizes with the ensemble in order to paint a beautiful picture with the lyric's poetry. The music here is a work of art in which no element stands out from the other and produces together a beautiful masterpiece. Epic!
I agree. I love this version because I love the atmosphere that was created by the harmonisation of vocals, choir and orchestra.
I also enjoy the 2013 Wacken version by Floor as the vocals are amazingly beautiful. For me it doesn't have that deep atmosphere of this version though.

It's easy for me. I started listening in 2001 and for me original singer is best version, Tarja, Annete or Floor. They are great, everyone of them. But the version I heard first is the best version.

Nice reaction to a beautiful composition. Tuomas writes something like 98% of the music. Others have contributed individual songs over the years. In an interview I saw last year, Tuomas explained his process. He usually introduces a score to the band that he believes is complete, including the roughed out orchestral score. At that point the band may or may not suggest modifications. According to Tuomas, most don't change much, but some change a lot. In addition, Tuomas has said he doesn't know how to compose for orchestra so he collaborates with an orchestral arranger (same guy for a long time). Usually the comments are something like "That's beautiful, but an oboe just can't do that! How about we use a piccolo instead?"

@@TheWolfHunterZ I haven't heard him talk about his first composition. I do know he started at a later age (teenager?). However, he has said that his compositions come to him fairly complete. It's not a step-by-step process; he writes down what he hears in his head. He has also said, and I think this is key, that everything starts with a story. He has a story to tell or a point he wants to make and the music flows from that fairly easily.
I first saw the Floor version of this song at waken 2013, and it was good, BUT after now hearing Tarjas voice, im in LOVE WITH TARJA'S VOICE MORE BIG TIME!!!! She just leaves you SPELL BOUND and takes you away to an enchanting MAGIC MID EVIL WORLD!!!!!!😊👍👍👍👍👍👍

It was a decision Floor and Tuomas made when Floor got this song reinstated on the tour. It's the same backing track but with some minor changes.

When I didn't know Floor Jansen, I listened to Nightwish songs only the instrumental version, without Tarja's vocals, because it was difficult to listen to her vocals, as if she was suffocates in the pronunciation of words in the songs,as if like the notes are getting out of hand, in the pronunciation of the words, it's hard to describe it,but that doesn't mean she's a bad singer, I tried to describe my impression of her voice, this is my impression of her vocals, and my opinion.
Yes, Tuomas writes all music and lyrics in Nightwish, with Emppu and Marco occasionally co-writing something

@@harry8333 I think in general, yes, but have you seen the earlier concert footage with Tarja? E.g. From Wishes to Eternity? The earlier material is where Tarja clearly excels. I don't think Floor is great at anything from Oceanborn and most of Wishmaster. And those are two iconic albums.

I personally (respectfully) find this version more intense than the other version. The emotional drama between the band knowing this was gonna be her last time ever singing this song, the intensity/loudness of the orchestra and choir...the Wacken version pales in comparison for me.

It's really saddening to think that a band with such magical, inspiring music and such talented, devoted musicians can develop a cult following of single-minded worshippers who aren't able to look at the bigger picture and appreciate said band in its entirety (or at the very least, leave the era that they dislike alone). It's so disheartening for long-term fans who just want to enjoy ALL of the music but who get trampled on by stampedes of digital Floor chanters. I don't even think Floor would be impressed by this level of obsession.

Greeting from Malaysia. I just started listening to Nightwish a couple of months ago. Never heard of this band before. But when some fans put Tarja against Floor Jansen, sorry, no competition. They needed to part. Tarja Turunen is a prolific and amazing singer, an operatic diva and her musical output would best be defined as astonishing. Meanwhile, Floor can do the more classical singing approach that Tarja was known for, but she also has a gritty edge to her voice when appropriate. Nevertheless, I agree that Tarja's version of Ghost Love Score was slightly better than Floor.
I think Floor teaming with Nightwish would have been the ascent to heaven. Her voice fits Nightwish's style very well. In fact, I do very much enjoy and love the previous Nightwish songs with lead singer, Tarja. But the powerful and angelic voice of Floor Jansen really brings each song into theatrical story. Her grasp of the material, her vocal range, and her interpretation of the work are pure and magical. Also her stage presence and ability to control the crowd.
All in all both are great, and we should enjoy Nightwish, not only the singer. I still give full respect and salute to Tarja. How I wish that I had heard of this band years ago. Sorry for my bad English as it's not my mother tongue

I'm a Floor fan having only found this band in the last Yr or so, but I can and do listen to previous singers. Some some tracks by Tarja and Anette I really like although I do prefer Floors versions in most cases. But let's not forget that band lineups can and do change over the yrs and without these previous line ups we wouldn't have the awesome band we have today.

I've not actually seen or heard them do this without Floor.
I like to say it again and again, Floor has made so much more of this song just by her versatility of voice. In addition, there were parts that Tarja never sang. Tarja doesn't always seem to be on point here either. Delayed use of the voice, but that can also be intentional. Of course, everything is very well sung, in her pure operatic style. But that's too much opera for me. That's why I love Floor and her way of singing.
Not only was Tarja sick with the flu and performing AGAINST doctor's orders for the sake of the fans (which would explain her voice not being on point), the "parts" she never sang didn't exist. I'm assuming you mean the belting Floor does at the very end? That was never part of the original song, it was in fact first created by Anette during live shows. Let that sink in lol.

Yeah! That's why people like to watch and listen to the Tarja version of this song more than the Floor version. It was Nightwish and Tarja who created the original sound of this song and 60% of all the band's songs. Floor and Anette added their 5% to the original sound with Tarja. In a couple of years this version of GLS with Tarja will be more popular than the version with Floore. After all, Tarja is a legend.

I used to be a big Tarja fan until Floor replaced Anette & also made her own version of this epic masterpiece. Although Tarja has a great operatic voice, Floor is much more versatile & her enunciation is so much better, not to mention her stage presence & superior skills in expressing emotions through her vocals & gestures.

Actually, Tarja is just as much versatile as Floor is, you just judge it based on a surface level. How Tarja manipulates the air with her organs and switches from vowel positions is much harder and more versatile than Floor switching from amazing belts, to mediocre growls and operatics - especially considering that she uses the same vowels almost everywhere. Nightwish has been my absolute favorite band since I first heard them a year ago. With a phenomenal Floor Jansen as the lead singer.
But I have to say one thing, neither with Tarja nor even less with Annette would Nightwish have cast a spell over me. If I listen to the songs from that time now, I am not surprised that I didn't know anything about the band.
About the song: Tarja's singing was colorless and without power compared to her possibilities. The dramatic middle section was not sung by her and the end is a complete disappointment. When I think of Floor exploding in those particular places, oh my god.
But it is precisely with Tarja, who is always said that she always sings in such an operatic manner, that I am so disappointed that she omits these passages.
So no more comparisons between the singers, that’s unfair to the first two .... Floor Jansen cannot be compared, she is the Valkyrie, the goddess, the rest is nice at best.
In addition, Floor's commitment has taken the rest of the band - which is made up of exceptionally good musicians and entertainers - to a new level.
Perhaps the best that Tuomas could do alongside his musical genius .
