    Hello vernon just found your vids...amazing the way you casually say you've got 2 000 plus miles to do when I see the UK ones...160 miles etc!..Great views of the states......

    I’ve been following your adventures for pretty good while now and I sincerely wish you the best, Vern. Pete’s have always been my favorite truck here in the States. If you get all of the bells and whistles up front you will pay dearly, but you can always slowly add them as you go. You are my favorite Yorkshire trucker here in the US. You are also the only Yorkshire trucker that I’m aware of here. Your faithful sub in Alabama, Robert.

    Great little update Vernon. Looking forward to the ones while you’re travelling. There’s a lot of trucks set up for fuel in the UK now, Volvo call it the isee. To be honest I found it a pain and just over ride it every time. These mans at drapers are geared for fuel and most of them don’t have the manual option but luckily I do on mine. They drop right down to about 900 revs before changing gear so on the runs to like Frome they never get going so once I get to Bristol I leave mine in manual until I get there

      They are really annoying the ones that you can't put into manual I drove one of our least freightliners that was like that it's like that horrible thing,

    Lovely looking motor, shame they ruined it by being a tight arse with those covers over the storage areas, they make enough profit to have proper doors fitted inside every wagon 🙄 As long as you're happy though, safe driving 👍🏻

    Crazy I average 10 mpg here in Ireland with hardly any motorway compared to stateside with all the motorway in the world and only getting mid 7’s.
    I know part of the reason is speed limits.

    Hi! I’m from Scotland in the UK and I’m looking to get into trucking, I’m really passionate about it and was wondering if you know if it’s legal to drive a Peterbilt or other long nosed vehicles that have big sleeper cabins in the UK? Love your videos!

    • @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754
      @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754  Год назад

      Yes you can there's quite a few American trucks in the UK it's just you've got to pull a shorter trailer like a tanker or tipper trailer for example

    Will you ever add things like curtains or padded leather flooring etc? Like in UK/ Euro wagons.

    • @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754
      @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754  Год назад

      It already came with curtains fitted, I definitely will not be getting any fringing curtains or pellets sorry not my cup of tea it's a truck not a boudoir LOL
      Ask for the padded leather flooring There is a company over in Idaho that makes them, $800 but it is real leather and I really do like them so that's a possibility (but don't tell the wife)

    Hi Vern love following your travels around the country. New truck looks amazing well done. Just one thing I’ve noticed is that the position of the seat belt looks like it would rub across the side of your neck being mounted high up. Especially with an air suspended seat? Do they not have the option of the seatbelt built into the seat as they do as standard on uk and European trucks..follow you on Facebook as well but wont let me comment, safe travels all the best from Liverpool England . 🍺

    • @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754
      @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754  Год назад +1

      Hi I'm glad you enjoyed following, I think there is some seats I have to seat belt building but not on this model it won't even move up and down on the side like in the Freightliner so I'm stuck with it,not sure why you can't comment on my Facebook post because that is all open

      @@weeyorkshiremantrucking6754 hi Vern I can on most posts but not on others, I just think it’s strange that it’s not a standard fit. Also I follow a few American truck drivers and there seems to be a resurgence of the cab over lately just wondered if you’d noticed while being on the road. Wonder what they’d think of a new 770s flat floor scania with straight pipes. Thank you for your reply much appreciated wishing you and your family all the best for Christmas and the new year 🍺🍺

  • @blairakana9984
    @blairakana9984 Год назад +1

    Don’t you need that gap between the cab and a fifth wheel in case you do a jackknife 90° parking with the trailer. So the trailer will not hit your cab.

    • @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754
      @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754  Год назад +1

      No , My Spanish truck was really close coupled It was that close coupled you had to put the airlines on before you clicked under the trailer,You can bring them right up tight especially if you got a fridge trailer, All you do is have to Jack knife it up until the point Where the corner of the trailer is the safe enough distance from the back of the truck, But you also have to remember and this is very important not to get it too close otherwise when you go up a ramp like on the Fairies the top of your truck will hit with the trailer

      Because they are an optional extra and cost more money but to be fair I don't really miss them at all trucks over here are a lot lower down that Europeans trucks so the right hand side you can see car roofs out of the side window

    • @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754
      @weeyorkshiremantrucking6754  Год назад

      I'm really not sure you know, Take into consideration 15 k for the APU and The important part to take into consideration they don't run for free I'm reading reports that they can use up to half a gallon an hour !!! That is half as much as what the truck would use idling but still you've got to try and get that 15K back somewhere

    • @truckingwithgerald7532
      @truckingwithgerald7532 Год назад +1

      @@weeyorkshiremantrucking6754 ok I have 28 years experience,15 as an owner op,so let me break it down for you
      1.Excessive idling causes premature failure of emissions systems,and that get expensive
      2.APUs work like your home a/c they only run when the drops above or below what thermostat is set at,nine only runs maybe 3 to 4 hours in a 10 hour period so it costs me about $14.00 a night to idle as opposed to $40.00 to idle my truck,based on 20 n8ghts a month that's a $460.00 savings on fuel a month that's roughly $6000 a year so your return on investment is recovered in 2.5 years,not to mention extending the life of your main engine an emissions components
