Testament is just straight up named after the band. Same with Slayer and Venom.

I didn't know about the phrase "as a matter of course" before this song, but apparently it refers to things occuring because they're natural or normal- so "just wanted to be there, like a weed, naturally as a matter of course" refers to like "just wanting to exist without it being a huge deal, just like weeds just happen to grow and that's normal", which ties into Testament's character
Just for the record also, Testament is non-binary, and the lyrics using he and she for them interchangeably is one way to reflect that aspect.
Testament was an overeager young human soldier KIA and then turned human-based Gear (effectively a living weapon) with no control over their actions.
Until they were freed, they were forced to kill many people, including ones they loved- and afterwards struggled with their faith in the world and humanity, who were the ones who turned them into a weapon, and now reviled them for it.
By the time of the latest game, we see that Testament has been able to overcome their nihilism and enjoy their life again, wishing to be seen as a perfectly ordinary person among people.

For some context, Testament is no longer Human, so does not identify as male/female. The he/she of the lyrics are used to reflect this. They are a Gear in universe whose lore I'm sure has been told to you from other videos. His theme intro is very close to his past theme "Bloodstained Lineage" from GGX

Testament's weapon of choice is a scythe with a malleable blade made from blood magic .

Testament is nonbinary/agender. In the older games the English localization referred to them as he, they were also referred to as he by Nagoriyuki in Strive when they first met, but in the Japanese version they've apparently always used gender neutral pronouns for them. This song flip flops between he and she, but generally it's agreed in the fandom to use they/them for Testament. Also that riff in the beginning, and honestly most of the song, is a reference to Testaments original theme in Missing Link. And yes their name is totally a reference to the band lol. What you said about Guns N Roses would def be in character for this series considering there's another character who is a walking talking Guns N Roses reference (Elphelt).
Whenever I explain Testament to someone it ends up as a monstrosity of a paragraph so I'll try to keep it shorter lol. They were the foster son of Kliff Undersn, the leader of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights, then as a young adult they joined the order but seemingly died in a Gear attack, but in reality their body was taken and they were secretly turned into a Gear, and subsequently their mind was seized by Justice. They fought Kliff and lost, then after Justice was sealed they orchestrated a tournament to find a blood sacrifice to break the seal, but then ended up sacrificing their own blood to do it, freeing Justice until Sol finally killed her once and for all. Testament survived and was finally free from Justices control and felt guilty for their actions and isolated themself, until one day they met Dizzy, the daughter of Justice, 2nd command class Gear, the whole world became terrified and angry at the discovery of her existence but all she longed for was contact. Testament protected her with all their might until the climax of that arc where Dizzy chose to leave and live with the Jellyfish Pirates and then eventually with Ky. Ever since all of that, Testament has just been trying to put their immortality to good use, their list of hobbies in their bio page is hilarious. You thought it was silly but "Like a weed, naturally, as a matter of course" is the perfect distillation of Testaments current state, simply persisting in life for existence sake, enjoying the sweet indulgences now that they're free. Immortality is often seen as a curse but Testaments view of it seems pretty unique.

The opening riff for this song is taken almost directly from the beginning of testaments theme from the first guilty gear “A fixed idea”

Even though it’s a not a character theme, I think you would love Rock and Roll, Rock Hard Maniac as it’s very similar do to songs you would hear on stage from bands like AC DC imo. Plus the guitar work in it slaps

Test’s theme always sounds like it comes from one of the older games (maybe because it references the old theme more than the other characters). That being said, fits the character very well a sorta “I just want to exist, where I am, without anyone caring or giving me shit” vibe
