  • This is the second most chaotic song we heard from the Guilty Gear Strive soundtrack so far and one of us seems to made some incoherent sense of it...

    Finally thaaaaaanks 💙
Fun fact - this is also Daisuke’s (composer/creator of all GG music and also head and heart of all series) favorite song to compose so he considers it the real one main theme of GGST

I feel like Daisuke is telling people to go out and touch grass instead of being neets in this song.

Drift was chaotic, flowing from genre to genre as it sees fit, never letting anything stagnate or grow old. In contrast Necessary Discrepancy has it's contrasting elements complimenting each other (such as the intense guitar and drum section in 5/4 being intercut with the floaty vocal section in 6/8. They balance out one another.) The elements layer over top of one another, and all serve to accentuate the overarching message:
Uniformity is lifeless. Contrast is beauty. Discrepancy is necessary.

@@thewindmillfullovcorpsesit's actually the _main "thesis statement" of Strive (or at least of its "villains"):_ that *there is no fate worse than boredom.*
Happy Chaos talks about "blank white rooms" - an analogy wherein he asks what a sane person would do if trapped in a blank white room for a year, yet everything was provided for them *except* entertainment.
[That analogy is referenced by the "if a *room without a sky* is what we idolize, it's a dead tomorrow" lyric.]
I-no, secondary bad gal of the story (btw she has time-travelling powers) has been preoccupied with avoiding a "dull, gray future" for multiple game installments, too.
It's similar to, but crucially different from the age-old "no joy without suffering, satan exists because without evil how could there be good, etc" belief.
_Personally,_ I interpret it more as "we create meaning for ourselves through struggle, so duality and conflict are necessary"

    Room without a sky....
I get it now. The mundanity of a room is safety. Going out/(taking risks) is unnecessary, yet the residents of the foolish world do it anyway. Even if it is seen as a waste of time by someone like Ramlethal, the heart is the thing that drives us to go out. To run. To call. To die. To see the sky.
The voice of life calls out to us, and our hearts answer with a resounding beat. This is what it means to truly enjoy life.

MY FAVOURITE SONG OF THE OST. i guess it was too progressive for you guys hahaha.
The lyrics talk about the the influences of Ramlethal. She was created artificially as a weapon of mass destruction and initially she shared the same ideas of her "mother" (the initial female voice) That the world is disgusting and needs to be destroyed, because humanity has emotions and are capable of doing good a bad things and are thus not in the idea of what "perfection" the world should be.
However as Ramlethal meets other people (the male voice in the midsection) and actually experiences the world, she can finally process her own feelings and understands the concept of how invaluable one's life is, even if they are also capable of doing bad things, evil is a necessary discrepancy for goodness to be.
In the end of the song, she embraces fully the ideas of the male voice and confronts her mother. Rejects her ideas that there is something as "the will (her), the void, that there is no growth in the world". After all, everything we care for is made of heart & heart.

This song symbolizes Ramlethal's influences. From the start with "mother" to later she's away from 'mother' and is influenced by Sin(another GG character). So the song flowing from a lady singing to a guy is reflecting what happened in Xrd to Strive. So to me, the listener is a Ramlethal stand-in, and the singers are telling you their POV.

Ramlethal was introduced to the series as an emotionless weapon called a Valentine, puppeted by a mysterious antagonist she refered to as mother. She just showed up one day and declared war on all of humanity. Because of that everyone and their mother sprung into action to find her and kick her ass, in the end it was (canonically at least) Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, and Ky's son Sin Kiske who intercepted her and managed to captrure her and took her in for questioning. Before these events Ky Kiske had also come into possesion of her sister Elphelt off screen, Elphelt was defying mothers orders and went to seek out Ky. Nobody could get Ramlethal to talk but when they ran out of options they allowed Sin (who to paint a quick picture is a half Gear half human, and because of his heritage he fully matured jnto an adult in only 3 years, he's 5 during the story I'm telling you about, so physically and mentally he's an adult but intelligence wise he's still learning about the world, even still he has moments of brilliance, hes a bright kid, very emotionally intelligent) to take a crack at getting her to talk. After awhile Sin decided that he liked Ramlethal and viewed her as a friend, and wanted to do anything to get her to smile, so she was pretty much locked in a room to do nothing but hang out with him and Elphelt until he managed to get anything out of her lol. She ended up caving in response to a puppy and a cheeseburger (relatable). Then throughout the rest of the games story she kept discovering more and more that she did indeed have emotions, and now, even though she's still learning, she laughs and cries and smiles and she loves her new friends, and helped them defeat her mother. This is all a gross simplification of her story cuz her story goes so crazy but that's the jist. She's so cool I love her.

It would be interesting to see how they would react to something like The Disaster of Passion or Perfection Can't Please Me, since they're very different from most other Guilty Gear songs.

When you consider the character of Ramlethal and her character development within the games, I simply adore the juxtaposition you get from the first two words on the song "Denial, Denial", sang by AISHA's in a very operatic tone, to the last words of the song, where Naoki Hashimoto is shouting his heart out with "Heart and Heart".
Perfectly encapsulates where Ramlethal started her story, and where she's ended it.

Fun fact: the chorus of this song contains motifs from her themes from the previous theme and her...mother's? ...sister's? theme. The Valentine family tree is confusing. If you ever get a chance, check out Diva from Guilty Gear 2: Overture. It's one of my favorites from all the games and it's the first song where that motif comes in
