- Dave Grohl’s daughter covered two Jeff Buckley songs in tribute to Taylor Hawkins at the special memorial concert that is taking place at Wembley Stadium today (September 3).
Before the special appearance from his daughter, Grohl spoke about Hawkins’ unrivalled passion for music. “So over the years, Taylor Hawkins turned me onto so much music,” he said. “He was a musicologist, he knew more about music than anyone I’ve ever met in my life.
“He constantly turned me onto albums I’d never heard before. One of them was Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’, which is a classic album. So tonight, seeing as we’re honouring the music that Taylor loved, we’re gonna play a couple of songs from Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’.”
Grohl then introduced a band that included himself on drums, Queens Of The Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures’ Alain Johannes, guitarist Jason Falkner, Jane’s Addiction’s Chris Chaney, and his daughter Violet. The Foo Fighters leader described the latter as “the only person I know who can actually sing a Jeff Buckley song”.
The 16-year-old took to the stage with the veteran musicians, taking on vocals for versions of ‘Last Goodbye’ and ‘Grace’.

i hear it 2 and it sucks big time!!!!
Not out of tune, the second guitar is quite dissonant in the track, but he is hitting too many strings so sounds a bit too clashy.

Man this rules. She did great with the lower register in the first verse! Buckley’s voice really was magnificent. I remember hearing about Taylor’s passing at a Darkness concert, gone way too soon. RIP.

Violet did well, Dave did great as always with the drumming, the slide guitar was good, but that other guitar providing the dissonance in the beginning... yuck that was awful. The volume should've been lowered a bit. Either he hit too many strings on those chords or he was not in the proper frequency with the open G tuning or something

I thought that violets performance here was absolutely stunning. Sounded and looked great, if I didn't know I would have said she was a seasoned pro. Such a shame that some knucklehead Nimrod allowed that guitar to be inccorectky tuned - I hope heads rolled for that shit
song is too low for her range, I have the same problem on jeff's songs. she's going flat and hitting the very bottom of her register which is why you can barely hear her. she's also singing with very little emotion, focused mostly on technique, makes sense with the size of that crowd, she's probs super nervous. I would be too. she has a nice voice, this is just not the song for it.

@@ohwellwhateverrI’m aware. I’ve covered it many times. all of jeff’s music is difficult to cover because his range and fluidity to transition is pretty unmatched. amy winehouse would definitely be an easier choice for her.

Thats a bit rude, she's only sixteen in this and was probably very nervous. If you can't say something nice keep your mouth shut.
Try listening to her performance of "At Seventeen" at last years Hannukah celebration, she definitely knows how to use her voice, but this song is kinda insane and very hard to sing (and starts off very deep for her range)

She does not blow me away. I have heard better on American Idol and Americas Got Talent. She would not have made it to the final on either.
