Not gonna lie, in this episode, the Krillin Owned Counter went from being funny to being a tragic reminder of just how powerless Krillin is compared to the villains.
@@Ulises_The_Jackal Yet he always comes clutch. As much shit as people throw at him, He has directly been responsible for preventing the deaths of others multiple times.
Trunks yelling "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!" is right up there with his simple "No", when Krillin asks if he's ever thought of 18 as cute, because it reminds the viewers that Trunks doesn't see this timelines 18, he sees his own timelines 18 in her and *hates* her for it.
Which does beg the question why he doesn't just blow her up himself when he literally lands in front of her instead of just saying to take off. Well that's because that was an anime only added scene. In the Manga Vegeta actually kicked Trunks away before he could really fight Semi Perfect Cell at all and Trunks never got as close to 18 cause Cell had already used Solar Flare to blind everyone by the time he got back thus there wasn't as much of an obvious plothole since though TFS worked with it as best as they could, the episode where Cell absorbed 18 in the anime is a mess due to this not very well strucutred out filler scenes.
@@jadbayram859 In DBS when she jokes with Trunks about wanting reimbursement for killing her future self, all I could think was how close Trunks must've been to erasing her then and there.
I feel the build up to that cause everyone is so blasé to the stakes of a future where they all are dead and no one is taking appropriate steps to stop that future
I do really love the way that Trunks slowly gets so JADED with everything. Like, he came from an apocalyptic future but was still so hopeful when he first came back in time. Then he realises that these guys are NOT the heroes that he thought they were and that despite him giving them ALL the info they need to win, they are determined to keep screwing up over and over and over. And also his father is the worst of the lot. I'd get that angry too lmao
That would be amazing, but considering he lives an ocean away from them, I doubt it'll be possible. They did bring Taka from Canada, but that's a land border which is different
Laying actual groundwork for 18 and Krillin getting together is one of my favourite things about DBZA. If you think about her backstory and character it makes sense why she wouldn't be into any of the violence-obsessed meatheads in the cast but the responsible little guy who's constantly punching above his weight (when he knows he'll probably get destroyed) because it's the right thing to do would catch her interest, and it's great that it's made explicit in the DBZA version. 18's completely-unironic "He's so cool" line about Krillin in the Super movies honestly fits for 18 and Krillin as characterized here.
yeah the show seemed like it was setting up her not thinking just breaking the remote was enough for her to magically fall in love with him then 7 years pass and she's in love with him, this is better
Reminds me of an edit of a fan comic: Krillin gathers the Dragon Balls and wishes Shenron to make him cool, and Shenron just says, "You're a loving father and lover, and a great friend. You're already cool, Krillin."
They also (maybe unintentionally) made Krillin destroying the remote much more reasonable for one simple reason - he has no idea Cell needs to absorb the Androids. In the actual show Cell told Piccolo when they met and then Piccolo told everyone afterwards, so there was no excuse, but in Abridged Cell was vague. All he knows is Cell transformed but he has no idea HOW, and for all he knows 17 got killed and 16 damaged by Vegeta or Trunks.
I absolutely love this episode’s “why are you still here” because of the FRUSTRATION in his voice, just something as simple as pausing really sells it; “why. Are you. *STILL HERE?!”*
I swear that has to be one of my favorite lines of all time. The delivery is amazing. It's a great line to use out of context too, but it is genuinely hilarious in context as well, like how long has the fate of the universe been hanging on these androids getting off these islands and for the hundredth time they have YET ANOTHER chance to escape, and she doesn't. She even JUST agreed to leave 16 behind a minute ago, then had a brain fart. Its almost like the writers need her to stay on the island even tho logically it makes no sense for her to still be here. Never forget that Tien kikoho'ed himself half to death and Trunks later saved a character who murdered his mentor and most of humanity in the future saying "blow yourself up or leave, I don't care which," and she STILL hasn't left.
Guys Kaiser Lost his father recently, please go easy on him and give him lot’s of love in these trying times, and bare with him and the channel if there’s a slowdown on uploads. I can’t imagine what you’re going through Scott, but I’m sorry this had to happen and hope things turn up for you someday soon. ❤️
Even aside from his fighting hyperfixation (and it's interesting that Gohan exhibits similar behaviors toward research as an adult), something that's kind of worth remembering on the "is Goku a bad dad" thing is that he never had a father himself. Bardock obviously not, Grandpa Gohan died when he was little and he spent years on his own until he was 14, and then the closest thing he had was Roshi. Hell, until Vegeta has a kid, the only fathers he even knows are Ox King and Dr. Briefs. Not only does he have no idea how to be a dad, the idea that "a father should actively be present in a son's life" has probably never actually occurred to him. He's got no frame of reference to even form the concept.
That's a fantastic read on things. Honestly never saw it like that. And I think you're right on Roshi being the closest thing to a father Goku ever had. Hell even the original Japanese for Super acknowledges that. I forget the word, but in the ToP when Roshi almost dies, Goku is screaming a word that can be interpreted as "Dad," or "Father." That and now your point here makes me think a lot about that.
Even better when you think about it like this; and hold his year in the time chamber as "dad training" with Piccolos "gohan doesn't like training " speech as an extra zenkai boost wakeup call. Goku learned how to be a real Dad from this and that led to his speech to Gohan before teleporting Cell
Oh shit. Goku and Gohan are both autistic. You know, it was so obvious and it never occurred to me. Thats not why Goku is a bad dad, but your mention of hyperfixation made it click for me.
Trunks' "You know what, YES!!!" to cap the final 'What are you doing?' sequence is possibly my most favorite Trunks moment in the series. The line read combined with him finally defying his bastard of a father after all the abuse that Vegeta has put him through is so satisfying.
So satisfying, even Vegeta had to be proud of him. No but really I agree completely and also love how it laid that groundwork for Vegeta coming around on his son. Cus of course standing up to him is what it took to earn his respect. Unfortunately, something something unyielding rage.
Hey Kaiser, I Know you must be having it rough with your father's passing. Thank you for bringing us this regardless, and I'm sure he' at peace with how far you've gone. Thank you for existing.
I didn't know that...I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my father four years ago, and ever since then August has always been an incredibly tough time for me. My condolences to you and your family. It's not something that ever completely goes away, but given time, things will get easier for you and yours. Just hang in there, man.
Okay Lani improvising the Majin Vegeta scene actually was so cool and makes me wanna wish we could have seen it even more. That "you know, the funny thing is" delivery was so good.
@@kataphrut7740Well Lani did record himself doing Vegeta’s sacrifice dialogue. Look up Lanipator Vegeta Sacrifice. He didn’t do the scream but still very cool.
I just realized that Perfect Cell's introduction setup the bookend of him singing. His first line, singing. His last line, singing. I don't know if that was intentional, but I love it.
Consider this: cell's on-screen introduction setup both this episode and the end of 60 because it too began with a song. Edit: it also works as a bookend with the epilogue because Imperfect Cell's final appearance ALSO ends with a song...kinda 😂
I love how Perfect Cell's song sets the tone perfectly for what we can expect from this character. He is the showman. He knows he's hot shit and the top of the food chain, and he will not rest until every single person on Earth and in the cosmos knows it. Which is also why it was perfect that his final scene was him going out on a song.
That pride of someone else line is a personal favorite of mine. It's like he was so close to having genuine character growth, but he was so angry and prideful that he no-selled it.
I love the genuine shock in his voice when he realizes he’s proud of Trunks. Like, that’s the start of him unconsciously bonding with his son, at least that’s how I see it.
P is for "Priceless," the look upon your faces. E is for "Extinction" of all your puny races. R for "Revolution" which will be televised. F is for how "Fucked" you are, now allow me to reprise. E is for "Eccentric." Just listen to my song. C is for "Completion" that I've waited for so long! T is for the "Terror" upon you I'll bestow. My name is Perfect Cell... An I'd like to say.... Hello. I just love this song.
Fun fact, someone in the comments on Cell's return during the finale added a sequel set of lyrics. I do not take credit for this, these lyrics were simply EMBEDDED in my memory because of how perfect a second verse they make. (in the episode) P is for "Priceless," the look upon your faces. E is for "Extinction", of all your puny races. R for "Revolution" which has been televised. F is for how "Fucked" you are, now allow me to reprise.... (*Blasts Trunks*) (fan addition) E is for "Eccentric", just look at how I win. C is for "Completion", that I have obtained again! T is for the "Terror", of knowing you'll all die.... I'm SUPER Perfect Cell. And it's time to say: Goodbye.
"Hey so, i don't sense power levels. But I can FEEL that. Does that mean anything" "we're fucked" is one of my FAVORITE set of lines in this series, both for it's applicability and how perfectly it sends off a joke in play since the start of namek Also I love the contrast between frieza's creepy take on an original song vs cell having a genuinely uplifting sounding (if not In lyrics), original song
Yeah, it's like if in a Star Wars story a non force sensitive character reacted to a Sith Lord being in the same star system without knowing how or why.
It's adds more terror when you think how high the lookout is above the world, yet Bulma could feel it. Imagine everyone on the ground level feeling it as well and having no clue AT ALL as to what it was.
The perfect cell introduction is, fittingly, absolute perfection. But my absolute favorite part is how it ends. You can literally HEAR the false smile drop. It’s so fucking good.
It caught me off guard, I'm not gonna lie? I didn't know what he meant by that, I was like 'it'd be cool if that was one of the buu bits' but I didn't think it would be, glad it was though I freaked out so hard
I love that they went out of their way to make sure Krillin wasn't pulling a Roshi with his attraction to 18. As the guys themselves pointed out when the scene came up, Krillin considered her to be a 9 out of 10, *BEFORE* he knew it was possible to have sex with her.
One other point about the scene where 18 gets absorbed. The scene is edited to look like she chooses to be absorbed by cell when she charges into him, sort of playing into the character work of androids and their desire to make their own choices. Not showing it makes it seem like she chose to at least go out by her own free will. It might not be the right choice, but its hers to make.
Nappa: "Hey Trunks! Did Vegeta ever tell you about that time on the bug planet?" Vegeta: "God damn it Nappa, don't you dare tell him!" Trunks: "I don't know if I'm happy or uncomfortable with this environment."
Nappa: “Hey Trunks. I’m your Uncle Nappa, and this is Vegeta-“ Vegeta: “He knows who I am Nap-“ Nappa: “He was a prison bitch.” Vegeta: (mumbled groaning) Trunks: “…I need an adult.” Nappa: “I am an adult!” Trunks: “Absolutely none of you people should ever count as adults.”
Sorry for the loss of your Father Scott. Losing a parent is essentially losing an aspect of yourself. Knowing that certain traits, mannerisms, and sayings you have came from them can be comforting. You carry on part of them.
It's honestly kinda sad listening to Trunks having that mental breakdown when he sees that Krillin smashed the remote. All this time, the image that he has of the Z Fighters (and Vegeta) has suffered through crack after crack as his stay continued. He was probably holding out for the redeemable or at least the likable qualities he KNEW were there in his childhood heroes, and he even gets to have a nice moment with Krillin making ki blast noises. And then, he sees the smashed remote from miles away and his mind just completely collapses. Krillin was in a position to just wipe out the only remaining person whose death could've destroyed Cell's plan, as well as get rid of an enemy who Trunks grew up in fear of in his time. But naw. He gets to watch the remote get rekt as Cell is making googly "I want that" sounds in the background, and all the emotions Trunks feels in that moment are released in full with a guttural cry of anger and confusion.
Amber scream is the reason I have so much trouble watching this episode again, it’s just so chilling and bloodcurdling. Also, shout outs to the squad going to his wedding; love that support.
Episode 51 has so many highlights that actually makes me praise this more then I originally did. A pure Character Arc for Krillin from starting as a sexual jokester and some what a coward to actually forming a love with 18/Lazuli and became brave when Cell came around. Speaking of 18 like how a couple of episodes you guys were saying Amber Lee Connors is probably be the best VA in the business, she really proves it here especially that scream when she gets absorbed always hurts my heart.
To me, this might be one of the best episodes of DBZA. The jokes quip nice and smoothly. The pacing is snappy. The characters are trying to do their best, especially Krillin. And it ends in the most PERFECT way imaginable!
Ya know it's 105 here today. It's topped 100 for weeks now. But since all the hurricane rain has been heading west the humidity is only in like the 20s so it's not.been so bad. It's nice for the shade to actually work.
It was the same with them saying that they wonder if cooler and frieza are ever gonna be in the same room again. At this point I expect them to do what they say
I can't blame you guys for making the absorption scene rapey because the original scene was rapey as well and you guys were building on that like you did in everything else in this series.
It also helps that cell gets his shit humbled royally in the end. It's like they said with Vegeta, it's fine to have characters be assholes as long as they get humbled in the end in equal measure and I think this is one of the best examples.
@@darthteej1 TBF, compared to Krillin, Trunks didn't had the chance to have conversations with 17 and 18. IMO, it was because at this instant, he let the Half Vegeta in him speak and was too angry towards Cell to focus on something else.
@@Juju2927that makes a lot of sense Ive always wondered why a he didn't kill Cell or try to kill Vegeta so he was out of the way or bc he didn't kill 18
I feel bad for Trunks. He did everything in his power to try and stop things from going as wrong as they did in his timeline, only to be screwed over at nearly every turn. Usually by Vegeta.
@@brendaspence1824 You're not wrong. But, if Vegeta had been able to stow his ego for a few minutes, he could have obliterated Semi-Perfect Cell and none of this would have happened. Or, if they'd listened to Bulma, Wished to find Gero and, "shoot the son of a bitch in cold blood".
Honestly Gan's read of Tien when he finds out Krillin crushed the remote is so good. All his lines there are amazing (I mean all his lines all the time are but especially here)
Krillin yelling at himself about all the people he loves dying being the realization that he fell for 18 just hits me so hard every time. Also, my heart goes out to you Kaiser. I hope you get all the support you need.
Even if he hadn't fallen for her, I feel like the outcome would have been the same. This wasn't like killing an opponent in a fight, he'd signed up to straight-up murder a young woman just to stop Cell from getting to her. I don't think he has that in him. The falling for her absolutely made it even harder for him, though.
I sincerely appreciate how you guys sped up the Android 18 absorption scene. Between 18's screams for help, 16's futile attempt to help, and the fucking tail thing happening, watching that as a kid traumatized me. Thank you so much for omitting it.
I was feeling kind of similar, in a way the jokes leading up to it still… Acknowledged how uncomfortable the scene is in canon, while actually softening the actual moment, and all without robbing it of impact!
I honestly find ALL of the absorption stuff really disturbing and I'm pretty glad that TFS handled it the way they did throughout, whether it's by reducing the shock with jokes or by editing it differently. When I was a kid, those scenes were the only thing I ever saw on TV that actually terrified me. I watched the show on a bedroom TV and I'd just hide under the blankets. *shudder*
dude Takahata as Perfect Cell singing My Way -- is the best version I have EVER heard. Im not kidding, its the one I go to every time. He should be proud!
Krillin's short speech was great, the commentary from the 4 on the lookout was funny, Trunks being the only one to actually try to prevent the end of the world is both funny and a great moment for him. Finally, Perfect Cell's perfect song was perfect.
This is my personal favorite episode, everything from the "Wait how can you be semi-perfect, you're either perfect or you're not me, there's no grey area." To the "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" To cell's perfect song, it's all just *cheffs kiss*
You know, I really do love the character work you guys did with Trunks. The way that he starts off confident since he knows what is going to happen, but is still in awe of these guys that he's only ever heard about in stories from his mom and Gohan. But extremely quickly he realises that a) he doesn't know everything that will happen, b) the timeline got changed by his arrival, and most importantly c) none of these guys are the heroes that he thought they were, especially his father. and it turns him even more cynical than growing up in an apocalyptic future did. He just can't believe that these guys who, unlike the versions from his timeline, have SO many chances to win and keep screwing up over and over and over.
Episode 51 was the first episode that premiered after I got into DBZA, so it holds a special place in my heart. It was 2015 and my parents had just separated, so I really needed this episode when it came out.
The idea of what-ifs is as old as storytelling Where there is a story, there is always the question of what if The idea of what-if'ing stories hasn't been ripped off from anyone by anyone because it's such a vague concept that it cannot be ripped off. And IF it can be ripped off, Masako doesn't predate the bajlllions of entries to fanfiction sites, which are basically "what if" as a culture.
30:28 for those wondering why they didn’t tackle the reasoning of using this subliminal image for this solar flare. There’s about 34 good reasons as to why.
20:05 - "Let me give you what you want. All the power you need, to defeat... Goku." "You know, the funny thing is, I know you're playing me..." GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I love how krillin realizes he loves her when he includes her with “everyone you know and love is going to die “ and he stops struggling with the decision because it was already made.
You guys were totally right about the way you did the #18 absorbtion. Your version always stood out to me - she goes out fighting but it's pointless, that's the theme here not "look how gross it is" - we already see that with the first absorbtion! No idea why people would use this as an opportunity to complain about female privilege lol
You're absolutely right. For 18 to have been absorbed on-screen would have been totally out of place with the way that scene was being written, built-up, portrayed, and overall acted. That scene was way too serious for a funny joke to have blown off how gravitic this entire setup was.
31:00 yeah that scream always hits hard no matter how many times I hear it. This is also probably the first time I ever actively thought about the fact we don't see her getting absorbed 😂
33:06 incidentally my favorite shot of animation. We've seen Frieza go "1 million" but Cell becoming perfect engulfs the ENTIRE HORIZON FROM ORBIT!!!! My absolute gold standard for power up sequences. Love the ground crater, love the aura, love the horizon shot, absolutely love Bulma's line here. ....Perfect!
It's not shown here, but like, the lightning just ondulating and crackling all over the fucking globe, so intense you can see it from outer space. His entire body just emanating this godlike glow of sheer power, like it's breaking out of his shell, almost like an actual insect molting, weirdly enough. My favourite part is that one where Trunks tries to attack him, and Cell just lets out this inhuman, reverberating roar at him. It doesn't sound like either his second or his perfect form, it sounds like an actual otherworldly beast being unleashed into the world.
31:15 - it is actually a writing choice that many people fail, while you CRUSH. You had the belief in your audience to stick to a tone you're setting for a scene and playing it out in its entirety instead of for a cheap laugh. That absorption scene is HAUNTING because of your decision and I personally LOVE IT. The whole episode is fantastic but wanted to point that out as a discussion topic being brought up.
Honestly, I always saw Goku (original and abridged) as an allegory for an autistic or neurodivergent guy, with fighting being his “special interest”. He’s awkward and doesn’t really get people, but he’s not a bad person. He doesn’t have certain “common sense” traits but he’s incredibly smart when it matters. He just has a laser-focus on fighting, to the point it overshadows other things in his life that the rest of us would prioritize. It give him tunnel vision, like when he let Frieza power up, let vegeta and piccolo go to fight them later, or made gohan fight cell. He’s a pleasant person that just thinks a lot differently than the rest of the cast, which is why he’s able to lead as the main character.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I prefer Goku being neurodivergent rather than it all just being "saiyan traits", since Vegeta isn't exactly like him either.
22:41 i feel like that was the moment Trunks completely realized everyone in the past was just gone in the head. All his preconceptions about how cool the Z fighters and their stories were, gone in that exact instant, if there were any left.
Although I love everyone's beautiful acting and writing throughout your multiple series, I absolutely love Taka's performances throughout DBZ:A, HFIL, and Hellsing Abridged. He just has this hilarious energy that rivals Jim Carrey which manages to get me to chuckle, laugh, or emote slightly. EDIT: I heard about your dad Kaiser through the comments, and all my heart goes to you. We the comments section shall so much love and support that it comes in the form of a Spirit Bomb. *COMMENTS, SEND SCOTT YOUR LOVE!*
It's kinda sad to see how much drama there's been over the "Goku's a bad dad" jokes. The best jokes are when there's a grain of truth, and there's more than a grain of truth. Goku has more priorities than just being a father, sometimes they're understandably greater, and other times lesser, but they're always in character and play into him not being human. He's a fighter and a hero at heart, and sometimes they can't always be the best dads. Goku isn't the best dad, and he might not even be a "great" dad, but he is a good father to Gohan.
You guys nail every scene. The one thing I expected or hoped to hear in this episode was Trunks saying "No wonder you all died in my timeline." Thanks for doing these retrospectives. Absolutely love them.
Okay I didn’t know Masako got married his wife is so pretty congrats to him man and glad we finally reached this episode the best part to me was Perfect Cell’s introduction
The time lapse from this episode and episode 52 was by far, the most anticipation I have EVER felt in my ENTIRE LIFE. The ending of this episode left me with goosebumps that I can still feel even today.
Masako absolutely killed it with the SU cover. I absolutely love it every time I get to episode 41. There is so much to love in this episode. And let's give a shoutout to Trunks being so peeved with his father that he fired a Finishing Buster at him a few steps away and without holding back.
I love the little touch that all the anger in Bulma’s voice goes away when she hears why Krillin did what he did and she even says it MAKES SENSE Like, she’s still very likely really pissed all her work went to waste but I don’t think she’s really holding it against him.
You know, only now did I realize she was holding her son while saying that line, proof that she can relate to Krillin's motivation for making questionable decisions lol
That bit where Krillen realises, and accepts, that he loves 18... You did such a fantastic job on that. It's so much better than any of the official dubs IMO.
Seriously. In the actual show it came sort of out of left field, but it was built up so well here that it actually sold me on why Krillin and 18 are the perfect couple for each other.
Out of every episode, this has always been my favourite. It takes a soft hand to introduce a villain, but it takes restraint and timing to introduce one in a way that gives people goosebumps. I catch friends singing "Perfect" so often, because every part lands in the best possible way.
This episodes opening with MasakoX's voice singing like that with Nick and Scott singing with him made me emotional like seriously sentimentally emotional about this series. It made me reminisce on when the episode first dropped and I felt all the hype and warm cuddly feels that I felt watching the original series and somehow even more.
Everybody loves an underdog...
yeah the show seemed like it was setting up her not thinking just breaking the remote was enough for her to magically fall in love with him then 7 years pass and she's in love with him, this is better
Amber Lee Connors!(Abridged 18🥰😍😘💋❤️)
Learning that they went to masakos' wedding actually put a massive grin on my face
No seriously
It makes sense when you think about it, you just don't think about it

Thats a great point!!
Even better when you think about it like this; and hold his year in the time chamber as "dad training" with Piccolos "gohan doesn't like training " speech as an extra zenkai boost wakeup call.
Goku learned how to be a real Dad from this and that led to his speech to Gohan before teleporting Cell
Until he was 11, him saying he was 14 was because he didn't knew how to count really well at the time.
Trunks screaming that “you know what YES!” Just also shows that he’s done with his fathers BS lmao

Huh. I just realized that his first line as Imperfect Cell was also singing.

I love the Krillin/18 relationship so much, it makes me wish that there was another mini series around them.
Lol
There's one episode of DragonShortZ about them going on a date and it's great. I would love more of that
@@KaneLowwind That was always my favourite DragonShortz. I’m just a sucker for cute couples.

Love this art. I can so see Nappa telling trunks embarrassing vegeta stories. Like the time that vegeta was a prison b*itch.
Nappa: "Hey Trunks! Did Vegeta ever tell you about that time on the bug planet?"
Vegeta: "God damn it Nappa, don't you dare tell him!"
Trunks: "I don't know if I'm happy or uncomfortable with this environment."
Nappa: “Hey Trunks. I’m your Uncle Nappa, and this is Vegeta-“
Vegeta: “He knows who I am Nap-“
Nappa: “He was a prison bitch.”
Vegeta: (mumbled groaning)
Trunks: “…I need an adult.”
Nappa: “I am an adult!”
Trunks: “Absolutely none of you people should ever count as adults.”
You did such an amazing job of making Krillin and 18’s relationship feel genuine.
Sorry for the loss of your Father Scott. Losing a parent is essentially losing an aspect of yourself. Knowing that certain traits, mannerisms, and sayings you have came from them can be comforting. You carry on part of them.
It's such a beautiful thing seeing Trunks becoming more and more disillusioned up to this episode.
Perfection...
We always talk about how talented Lani is, but the fact that he can also just at any point mimic the voice he has only when he’s sick is wild:
His passion and energy are just off the charts. I can feel how much he loves this.
One can argue that the entire episode was simply PERFECT.

Definitely. I'm a grown adult in college now, and I STILL cannot stomach that scene.
I was feeling kind of similar, in a way the jokes leading up to it still… Acknowledged how uncomfortable the scene is in canon, while actually softening the actual moment, and all without robbing it of impact!
We had already crossed the line with the "Just look at what she's wearing" line. Any further would not have been funny.
I am so fucking glad I wasn't the only one that was left incredibly disturbed after that scene
I honestly find ALL of the absorption stuff really disturbing and I'm pretty glad that TFS handled it the way they did throughout, whether it's by reducing the shock with jokes or by editing it differently.
Honestly? I've thought the same thing. It makes a lot of sense.
And he's not human. Like, you don't compare how turtles lay eggs in holes on beaches to elephants who have the whole herd protect the kids.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I prefer Goku being neurodivergent rather than it all just being "saiyan traits", since Vegeta isn't exactly like him either.

32:50 the SFX on cell's transformation here always gives me goosebumps, its so POWERFUL
Vegeta UNYIELDING Rage was my favorite in this episode 😂 But the next episode has my favorite Vegeta insult ever
You guys nail every scene. The one thing I expected or hoped to hear in this episode was Trunks saying "No wonder you all died in my timeline."
Thanks for doing these retrospectives. Absolutely love them.
Okay I didn’t know Masako got married his wife is so pretty congrats to him man and glad we finally reached this episode the best part to me was Perfect Cell’s introduction
I enjoy Nick and Scott being so into the song at the start, big happy faces, and Taka is just cringing his heart out internally.
The time lapse from this episode and episode 52 was by far, the most anticipation I have EVER felt in my ENTIRE LIFE.
The ending of this episode left me with goosebumps that I can still feel even today.
Random fun fact: The muffin bounces on the lyrics in the opening song is a vector taken straight out of My Little Pony.
Masako absolutely killed it with the SU cover. I absolutely love it every time I get to episode 41. There is so much to love in this episode.
And let's give a shoutout to Trunks being so peeved with his father that he fired a Finishing Buster at him a few steps away and without holding back.
I love the little touch that all the anger in Bulma’s voice goes away when she hears why Krillin did what he did and she even says it MAKES SENSE
Like, she’s still very likely really pissed all her work went to waste but I don’t think she’s really holding it against him.
You know, only now did I realize she was holding her son while saying that line, proof that she can relate to Krillin's motivation for making questionable decisions lol
The back and forth with Cell and Trunks when they see 18 is one of my favorite scenes in the series...It is so good XD
I identify with you each so much and I just wanna thank y'all for putting so much of yourselves into every piece of this epic series.
