As a passenger, I prefer Airbus, they maintain altitude until the pilots lower the flight themselves, the doors do not open in the middle of the flight, they are quieter and the seats are much wider.

The absolute seat costs may matter to a budget airline striving to fill to capacity most of the time.
However, as the occupancy rate reduces, the trip cost becomes the important value.
One other (optional) feature of the A320 series that is not available on the 737 is brake fans.
These significantly reduce the time needed between landings (particularly on short runways where the brakes are worked much harder) or an aborted take off, and the next take off.
This can affect the speed of a turn-around and the number of flights possible per day as well as an aircraft's ability to maintain a possibly already tight schedule.
