    Aircraft manufacturers should make designs like it was 30, or 40 years ago; make engine pylons compatible with two or three engines, so airlines would have options of engines, as per the current fleet. I recall the 757 had 3 engine options, GE, PW, and RR. And, they all work great for their operators. Is is possible because there's no "competition", that quality is falling behind? What is making the airplane manufacturers to stick to one engine option, and jeopardizing airplane sales? I'm sure if the affected fleet had options on engines, there would be not a big issue like this.
