Why does absolutely everything I buy need a login and an app?
so they can buy and sell you as an advertising target
Because it connects to a server and saves all the setup info/ downloads firmware/ etc. Also to get your data but it's not just nonsense its part of having IoT all devices need to login somehow to send and receive encrypted data
A real pain when you buy a new phone.
@@waynegranzin3824yea my 1st thought with this was will they use internet to do some dodgy shit or use it as hot spot for other users or hack me 😂 my previous was better connect one with wire and then put other in any socket but not as strong as this
So they can sell your browsing history and data.
The screen at 2:28 where it says ..."go to settings and connect your phone / tablet to Deco's wifi" - NEVER showed up on my phone! PLUS - now it is asking me for a PIN before I can get into the system. I NEVER GOT THE SCREEN TO ASSIGN ONE! This app sucks! I STILL can not get the remaining two units to quit flashing blue!
The music is annoying and this video tells you almost nothing of how to get it to work

If you have a low IQ and lives in a third world country, ofc.
I understood it
ikr, its amazing
Maybe you should just listen more carefully 😂
so the first deco mesh should be connected thru cable? can i connect the first deco without using cable so that i can place it anywhere in the house just like the other 2 deco mesh?
No it must be connected to router for the setup to work
@@rajakormi1 ugh so basically I can only cover 2 rooms, not 3?
I'm gonna put one in room 1 and one in room 3, and hopefully the two of them together cover room 2 as well.
If it doesn't work, I don't suppose it's possible to buy another deco, right? It seems like I have to buy another deco AND its receiver deco.
@@kimia1664 if you form a triangular shape between 3 routers you should be fine
Getting the necessary info about your ISP is BEYOND challenging...why couldn't this simply have a WPS button to clone the network like the small extenders do? The average person will not have the technical aptitude to set this up without serious help...I'm a techie and I can't get the info from my user dashboard with Optimum and their customer service is inept to put it mildly.
EXACTLY. Where the hell is my VPN?
Does it matter which connection type you choose? Where can you find the necessary information to find that out?
Can you use these wireless? My wifi modem is wired and I just want to plug these in with the power cables in the rest of the house, I don't have network cables in the rest of the house.
I'm after the same answer. I have two of these but when streaming in my lounge (5m away from remote deco, but no line of sight) the wifi cuts out, on and off constantly, once a minute. I want to know if I can use the deco I have wired into the modem (which has it's own wireless) and move it into the lounge to have line of sight to my laptop for streaming.
I read that we can't use a deco as repeater to an existing wifi network. One deco must be wired to the router.
First of all you don't have to unplug the router to plug the deco in second both modes are basically the same.
the thing that most instructions and videos are MISSING: at 1:16 it starts talking about using the deco as a router OR access point. but it seems the physical setup at that point is the SAME, regardless of which you choose...
i'd imagine the bulk of typical, first-world users are getting their service from a single device that is both a modem AND router. and if so, are there router functions on that device that should be disabled when using the s4 mesh system in router mode?
Id reckon if you already have a TP Link router thats compatible with the mesh system just turn it into an access point
I think he’s talking about if you have an isp modem/router in one device.
I have tried to setup according to the steps given. But once I remove the lan cable from main router. It turn red; how can I solve this?
YOu need to keep router lan cable connected to deco

My masters bedroom mesh (2nd floor) is always connecting to the living room mesh (1st floor) not on the hallway mesh (2nd floor). I need to restart the masters mesh just to reconnect it with the hallway mesh. Is there any solutions about this?
I thought this shit was meant to expand wireless connection but it ain’t wireless, shitty scam product
It really isn't wireless??? Help i have this problem. I can't connect it wirelessly. It says I need a cable to connect to the main router but I need this tp link mesh in my room not outside so how does this even work.
@@chloe8969 it’s garbage it only makes another access point but it’s bad not worth it the connection isn’t as strong as the one from the router either it’s so slow
Why the music throughout the video?! It's distracting. A voice over would have been far more useful
Pretty chill song though haha
Dopey music does not help
Do all three devices have utp cable ports? I basically want to have one of them be connected to the network via wi-fi but then to have a cabled connection to a device? (because that particular device requires a cabled connection)
So they can track absolutely everything you do. Don't ever use your personal email or name.
my phone is stuck on connecting. I disconnected and re tried but phone will not move to next page.?? Any help ???
How do you disconnect it?
I have this all set up, and now I have two WiFi network names, one with my router ISP and one I set wup with the Deco Mesh, which one do I connect my devices to? thanks
I also have 2 network names, the original modem name and now the deco names, how did you solve this?
either one but the Deco one will be faster in deadzones
I can't seem to connect other devices to the network. The password doesn't work. I've verified the password is correct but it keeps saying "invalid password." there was a firmware update that was done as well. I changed the security type as well. I can only run on guest unsecured with the devices. Help!

Deco is complicated and cannot get any help with it... Fecking nightmare...
I know 😂😂😂🤣
Specific question: I already have a TP-Link router to plug the 1st unit into. What is the "TP Link ID" (2:00) - is this the same as the SSID of the router, or is it one of the other codes on the underside of the router?
General point: for someone with limited ability with a smartphone, this guide is difficult to follow and setting up a mesh wi-fi system seems daunting.
Do i need to keep this product on a cable connection with my router? Or can i use it wireless?? I cant seem to set it up wireless
first sattelite is the main unit and it connects via cable to the router/modem. 2nd sattelite and next will connect via wifi to the first one.
How do i fix a disconnected deco m4 from its main? Please help. Thanks, TP-Link
If your deco is not working is because you do not need to restart your MODEM,
And open the app only when you linked your first deco to the modem.
I just got one Deco to extend my network. I don't want it plugged into my ethernet port. I got it to extend my wifi, and want to place it upstairs. Is that possible? Please help.
You need at least 2 hardware units to form a mesh system.
One has to be wired via Ethernet to your modem. And the others placed wherever u want the WiFi to reach.
@@lordgooner2321 Thanks for your answer. It would have been nice to know that before I ordered the thing. I have wifi already. I have a modem already. Why would I order just one of these things as Premium WiFi?
@@Michelefree single units are sold for those who already have the units and want to add to it.
If its not too late. U should return and get the 2 pack which is only slightly more expensive. If not you'd have to buy another single in order to create the mesh network.

It keeps loosing internet connection even I'm connected

What a headache !!! Confirm reconfirm rereconfirm and it doesn t even work

I'm confused about many things on the last step of the app:
1. It says "multiple decos are found. Find the one that is connected to the router and THEN go to your wifi settings and connect your device to it." I'd imagine I had to "find" the deco on the wifi settings page of my devices; I started to get confused when it said "THEN go to wifi page". Where was I supposed to find the deco before that??
2. Why does it want me to connect to the router deco?? Wouldn't it make more sense for the bedroom deco to connect to the router deco, and for me to connect to the bedroom deco?
3. When I connect to the bedroom deco connection is weak, as if no deco has been set up. When I connect to the router deco [from the bedroom] it says "connected without internet".
4. The decos don't have a number underneath them that distinguishes them from one another. I just guess which is which based on how their connections are power-prioritized on the wifi connection page on my phone.
5. Nowhere through this process has been asked of me to insert any deco-related numbers into anywhere, which I imagined had to happen at some point.
Cool step by step installation guide that came with the box.
"Download the app."

My question is the main deco gives signal to numder 1 and number 1 to number 2 and number 2 to number 3 OR all deco take signal from the main deco ?
Hi, I want to change from bedroom to living room, is it possible? Can you please help me which option I have to select in deco apps?

Not a good system. Set-up instructions and support written by a Chinese with limited English. RUclips video confusing. Instructions for linking the deco network to the main house internet pathetically bad. Eventual result was dramatically slowed and unreliable. It only worked at all when connected directly to the router by cable, which totally defeats the point of it. Second deco product that I've bought, and like the first it will be going back tomorrow.
Possibly the worst video ever. Loud obnoxious music playing while voice should be playing. What r people thinking ? O cannot get my tp-link to run. This was no help
Terrible product. Extremely poor quality ans high failure rate. Don’t waste your money or effort. The most frustrating piece of tech ever. Poorly designed and engineered
Do you need to make wired connections? I have a Starlink satellite system which has no Ethernet connections options
Did you get any further with this? I'm in the same boat
My 2nd unit is not working at all , though I am keeping it very near to my first router
Just set up the AC1200 pack, which has M4s, which you should know to select and not AC1200 when setting up the thing, if not it will be found. Other than that works so much better than I could ever have hoped for. My router (wired) has a 200Mbps connection. Near it the wifi is around 120-150Mbps. Down here in the first floor I never got above 20Mbps in a good day, less when raining. Now? Let me check... Lol. Its crazy...the speed is actually faster than the wired connection, with 218.15 Mbps Download and 123.6 Mbps Upload (using 2 M4s upstairs and 1 downstairs). This is NUTS. Now I can finally play PS5 on the Steam Deck or buy the new PS Portal :3 Amazing product. Damn!
Bro I get 20 WITH the deco
The product/WiFi will not connect to my Smart TV? And no customer support line?! Yikes, I’m not a happy camper. No luck or help so far
Does second deco also need to be connected with LAN cable?
Nope
Must the one device always be connected to the router or will both be able to be satellites?
that's what I'm wondering. because that's what is happening to me right now. It's kind of BS.
Once the first Deco is set, I disconnect the grey ethernet cord, then LED turns Red. What am I doing wrong. Does one Deco need to be connected to the Router by the grey ethernet cord the whole time? Then the extra Deco is through wifi?
yes, one deco must be connected at all time to the router via the ethernet cable
Don't remove it. How you expect internet to work with no source.
hi, how to connect the 3rd deco to the 2nd deco? My 3rd deco always connect to the 1st deco (main). I want it to connect to my 2nd one. Please help

Same with me? Who can teach us pls?
Is there any reason why all my deco m4r nodes ( satellites ) refuse to connect to the next nearest node and all want to find the main only ?
i m having the same issue how can i fix it
This does not make sense The whole point on buying this product was to lengthen the reach of the wifi connection. There for to place it in a different area in the house then the original router. Why do I need to connect it to it physically? Why don’t I just connect my computer to the phone line and call it a day?
OMG I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE NOW. I am trying to connect this tp link mesh to the main router wirelessly but it says I have to use a cable to connect it. So, if that's the case, how can I bring this tp link mesh in my room when the main router is in another place in the house? Did you get it solved yet?
Why the horizontal power-brick. Why. What's wrong with you people.

How do I set this thing up manually, through a browser, like every other router out there???????
Maybe I DON'T want to share my email address with TP-LINK and I DON'T want to share my network details and connected devices info with TP-LINK either, or any other 3rd party for that matter???
Beware! They are trying to siphon as much data about you, all your network devices, everything they can somehow use to sell to other parties and use for ad campaign targeting.
So what? Are you somekind of criminal that u wanna hide garbage info like whichphone, computer or whatever u use to conect on your wifi? But at the same time u share u info with youtube, google, facebook, microsoft, etc... U're just ridiculous.

Can I directly connect NBN FTTP to S4 mesh wifi system directly and configure like other routers ? I couldnt find any WAN port for S4 mesh system.
Question: can I set up a guest network when using deco in access point mode? Background for my question is that nowadays most user have a combo device of modem, router and wlan access point. But the wlan access point might be of outdated standard. In this case it makes no sense to use deco in router mode, because using a Lan router configuration parallel to a wlan router configuration is complicated and might interfere in some way. But maybe guest network is a must?
So is it possible or not, because almost any wlan access point on the market does not provide guest network in access point mode. To me this feature is an absolute must.
Yes the application has Guest mode where you can save different password other then main password.
Can I use it as an access point to google wifi router?
So one deco has to stay by the router and the others u can connect after setting up the first one and can be placed anywhere?
Correct, one of the decos has to be connected to your current modem via the ethernet cable provided
The rest you place wherever you want around your property
Yeah what a load of shite, the first one is a foot away from the damn modem i already own!

The light goes red when we disconnect the ethernet, even after finishing set up.
You ever figure this out?
Do we need a router too or can we setup this directly to modem
You don't need another router. Deco router may be connected with the modem directly.
I just bought TP-Link Deco M4 - 3 pack. I'm disappointed because I cannot cover my home with the signal. I have a router in my basement and I thought I would connect 3 devices in a chain to go up to 2nd floor. It seems that the device connected via LAN transmits WiFi signals separately to both additional devices, so I have a medium connection to the first one and a low one to the second. So apparently the one connected via LAN has to be in the middle. I probably try to get a refund (unless there is an option to create this "chain" connection to pass the signal from first to third via second)
Annoying music
Am I insane or does nobody realize how insanely stupid it is to **force** people to use A DUMB APP to do it AND FORCE YOU TO USE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS
WHAT IN THE NAME OF FUCK
This is called the Deco is a worst router i have ever bought, There's no advance feature meaning you can't select appropriate channel manually, you can't take full advantage of it. Network congested area will make it useless as it can't select select any appropriate setting itself, Signal will drop quickly and range doesn’t reach farther way, because of suffocating design of it, it has Internal antenna which is not good for wifi technology again plastic cover suffocating it easily, if you will ask for manually channel selection method to the company's replier then they Won't take it into step to do that. Benefit of it has is higher wifi speed which you can be benefitted from near of deco, worst policy worst model and architectural design and worst wifi performance, If any Doesn't believe then just visit TP link community as we are sufferer.
