    Hi! Main router is in second floor. I only have one deco mesh, I am able to connect it via Ethernet cable however I want to put this deco upstairs but it came up with red light. Does this need to be connected to Ethernet cable at all times? So it means I have to buy another deco mesh so the WiFi could be strong upstairs? Thank youu for helping!

    • @ribbytrivia
      @ribbytrivia  Год назад +1

      Yes. The main node needs to be connected to the main router at all times. Only the children nodes can be wireless.
      You can either buy another one, or you can use a longer LAN (rj45) cable

      You cannot replace the provider's router. You can only add access point, but never replace the main router

      I have set it up. The main unit is on the second floor, have other 2 units in the first and ground floors. However, the one on the ground floor has a weak signal, and in the map, I see it's connecting to the unit on the second floor. Can we make it to connect to.first floor unit to get a better signal

    Hey, nice vid!
    Quick question: With the first ethernet port being used as the source. Can you use the second ethernet port on the main router to have a wired ethernet connection to your PC?

    I have currently have modem-router combo(2in1) provided by local network provider. Im thinking of getting this, can i connect this to my modem-router via ethernet cable(bridge) and just disable wifi from my original modem-router ? Would that be possible ?

    • @ribbytrivia
      @ribbytrivia  Год назад +1

      Yes, You can connect this to your source router. But you CANNOT disable internet to your source router. Think about it... If you do that, where would the mesh get it's connection?
      And if you are thinking of totally replacing the ISP router with the mesh, that is not possible. There are settings in your ISP's router that only they can set to enable your internet connection from them

    • @ribbytrivia
      @ribbytrivia  2 года назад

      I"m not sure I get the question. You already have a router setup, which is your provider's network. Then you are just connecting the mesh to that, to extend the coverage of the wifi signal. So, in the end you will still have the SSID of the main router, plus the SSID of the main mesh. But they are all transmitting the same wifi network from your provider. I'm not sure what the "networks you previously used" is.

    • @ribbytrivia
      @ribbytrivia  2 года назад +2

      Technically, one would work. But that's just like putting up an extra modem as a repeater.
      The whole essence of a mesh is to create a mesh of networks with multiple nodes to cover wider area.

    • @ribbytrivia
      @ribbytrivia  2 года назад

      I don't understand the question. Mesh creates a wider coverage of WiFi. As long as your PC can connect to a WiFi, you don't need to do anything on it other than connect to it. The whole process of setting up a mesh has nothing to do with a PC

      Yung main node dapat naka-wired connection sa source router. The rest ng children nodes wireless na. Basta abot ng signal ng main node, kahit saan mo ilagay ang child nodes pwede, kahit ilipat lipat mo pa. Lahat yan na-explain na sa video. Same lang siguro sa lakas ng WiFi signal compared sa ibang routers.
      Pwede naman isa lang. Ang unang mesh mo ay connected ng LAN Cable (RJ45). Kaya yung LAN cable mo dapat aabot hanggang sa pagpupwestuhan mo ng mesh.

    • @ribbytrivia
      @ribbytrivia  6 месяцев назад

      @@baytisoy8888 Hmmm... parang useless kung itatabi mo lang sa router mo. Ang pinaka-purpose nya ay ma-extend ang signal ng WiFi mo. Para magkaroon ka ng WiFi connection sa area ng bahay mo na mahina or walang signal. Kung itatabi mo lang ang mesh sa router, magkakaroon ka ng 2 WiFi signal, pero coming from the same area lang. Useless kung ako tatanungin mo.
      Suggestion ko mag-invest ka ng mahabang LAN cable na aabot sa 2nd floor mo. Tapos yung mesh dun mo mismo sa 2nd floor ilagay.
      Actually same tayo ng issue sa WiFi namin dati. Mahina sa 2nd floor. Kaya kinuha ko itong mesh offer ni PLDT. Tapos bumili ako ng LAN cable sa UGreen sa shopee. Yung main mesh nasa 2nd floor. Tapos yung 2nd mesh (node) ay nasa 3rd floor. Wala na kong problem sa connections. Lahat ng floor may kanya-kanyang malakas na connections na.
