I bled pretty badly after my surgery, but no transfusion for me. And when I was finally allowed to come home I was expected to do everything as normal despite still being quite sick. At bible study I was unable to read the passages from the bible my father ordered me to, my throat hurt and was bleeding from trying to speak too much. My father was so angry he dragged me into the bedroom and thrashed me with his belt until I was screaming and I ended up in hospital again with another major bleed. These people are all so evil. How can they think that treating any child like that is anything other than abuse? The overlapping generation was the waking up call for leave this weird, careless, awful and dangerous organization. That moment when Splane tries to convince us that the "generation" means anointed who are contemporaneous of Fred Franz... gosh! They went nuts!
I remember when the magazine switched to color printing. My dad had a fit over that because he felt it was too commercialized. He died in 2014, so JWorg was barely kicking in. He would absolutely lose his sh!t over the last two years. He was not a fan of change, which is a heck of a pet peeve to have in this religion.
My Dad was an elder and when there would be talks about having family study, like studying the Watchtower lesson, it would never get mentioned at home and we never did. As I think back it is because my Dad didn’t want to ‘study’ an additional hour per week. 😂 We were busier than a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers as it was. 😃
I just remembered another point that could have made a list. The recent announcement about being able to still jump onboard even after Armageddon has started, effectively giving the disfellowshipped or non-believers the chance to just wait and see if any of this is real or not.
I'm glad you mentioned this because JW official belief in the hailstone message is contrary to their belief in last-minute repentance during the Great Tribulation. One cannot believe both doctrines at the same time. Once the Governing Body realises that they have foisted on JWs these contrary beliefs, they may try to do something about it. The members of the Governing Body are obtuse, so it may take them some time to realise what they have done
@@mikegonzalez503 The "new light" about being able to still jump aboard after Armageddon has started is very new, like less than 6 months old. They're now saying that as long as people join up before the actual end of Armageddon, it will not be too late. Which basically means that there's no real point to living your entire life by their weirdo rules, just wait until Armageddon starts.
If any JWs ask about new light and your facial hair tell them it’s within new light understanding and it’s just the result of drinking Iron Bru it’s made from girders.
Because of you I finally excepted that I was definitely in a cult. Always felt inept because I could never DO enough. Now I know that I just couldn’t admit that I truly did not BELIEVE. And , Lloyd, love your new hair color. I too am RED. 😄🥰
So many changes indeed. I'm dying to have a face2face conversation with my mother about this actually, and really see if she still 100 % believes or is now staying it for social reasons, JWs are her family basically. I can respect that if it were the case but she ought to be honest, can't tell me with all these changes she still wholly believes it. But here's a funny story, just yesterday I saw a newspaper article about the passing of the husband of the woman who preached and converted my mother (and subsequently many in my family) 50+ years ago. He was a JW too as far as I know. Prior to converting to the JWs he was a land developer in their area who contributed a lot to the city hence his passing was newsworthy for the local papers. These people's kids, one's out, the other I don't know, she actually married a special pioneer back in the 90 but he seemed quite liberal and I know later he quit pioneering and took over his family business. I met the guy once in London when he visited for an industry expo, I was fading we had a meal together and he was the only person from my childhood congregation who didn't even bring up the JW conversation. So I'm inclined to think the daughter & husband are also no longer JWs. But here's the interesting point: about the old man who passed, the paper said funerals are to be held at the catholic church and gave the address. I did a double take on that. Are they to tell me that the parents are also no longer JWs? That's beyond ironic to me and I will find out more.
Right! Because Jehovah God, in his mercy and loving direction, takes the meek through the scenic route to understanding. "I'm just testing ya’ to make sure you are truly obedient! Prove it, prove it, prove it to me you righteous ones!”
Re book study - how many people were vilified and brand as “bad associates and spiritually weak” in previous years that missed book studies and meetings so they could work and provide for their family?
I'm still bemused by the cart phenomenon as it is after my time as well. I wonder if it would've been any less stress-inducing though. At least with door to door I was able to avoid knocking on my schoolmates' doors on all occasions except one when I couldn't wiggle my way out of that territory. With the cart thing, I'd be stood there with nowhere to hide 😂 but then again, I haven't seen young wans at the carts yet. The not reporting of time would've been great to avoid the constant guilt of either not having more hours or for rounding up that half hour here and there 😅
@ShoNuffSoulBro1 🤣 it's such a joke that JWs have an urgent message. Armageddon is right around the corner, but these cart witnesses can't be arsed to even try and talk to anyone passing by. If anything, they seem to be hoping no one even approaches them so they can count their time, check their box, and head on home. Another day in their hell on earth done ✔️
Agree with your order. Putting a face to the religion was an eye opener. All I could think of is wow there is no way god would choose this clown of all the intelligent and wise men on the earth to represent the most powerful being in the universe.
I think a change that should actually be near the top was doing away with "types" and "anti-types". It invalidated the extrapolation of Daniel's prophecy leading to 1914 (& 1919). It singlehandedly overturned the whole structure of doctrinal authority.
About point 6, cart witnessing: You explained that in your time as a witness, you could only spread the message by door-knocking and return visits. But - back in the seventies and eighties, it was common to do street preaching, at least here in Norway: We would find some public area, working alone or in couples, and address random people walking by, presenting ourselves and offering som litterature. We could stand still or walk slowly when doing this. No carts, only our personal bag with litterature.
i left over 25 years ago. out of curiosity i recently started attending meetings again. that lasted for about two weeks. its changed so much, a lot of the stuff i "learned" back in the day is non valid now. so if anything my curiosity has confirmed what i previously thought; its all a load of rubbish to make money.
WOW! What a great list and such great and useful information! All of these things have been covered in the past, but to have one clean and consolidated presentation is excellent. I completely agree with the list and the order. Your reasoning behind the order was sound and logical. Pretty sure I voted for this one and I am not disappointed what-so-ever. Any time you crank out a full length video I become engrossed and learn something. Thank you, Lloyd.
Re: comment: 👆That’s a really excellent point! Wow! They’ve moved the goalposts again?! Ugh I agree with so many people commenting on this bizarre cult!
Regarding #1: Lloyd, you and I are around the same age, and I, too, remember a time when we didn't even know the names of the GB, let alone what they looked like. I was thinking of "Tight Pants Tony," and even the thought of making fun of a GB in my childhood was a one-way ticket to Armageddon. Don't get us started on the whisky run.
Regarding cart witnessing; something similar was "street corner" witnessing. I was a kid when it lost traction (70's i think) and i was gone by 81/82, but they stood on a corner holding a magazine in the hopes someone would inquire.
So much change! I’m 60 this year and haven’t attended a meeting in about 25 years and the organisation is nothing like it used to be. Men couldn’t have ‘privileges’ in the congregation if they had a beard, now it’s a complete about face! Excuse the pun 😁Before I got married, at the age of 17, I would wear pants to the meeting and I was so looked down upon. Such stupid incidental things that they controlled about us and now they say, ‘come back, it’s so much easier now!’ I resent that so much. I doubt that my parents would still be witnesses now if they were alive, it’s unrecognisable 😠
SOOOO TRUE...BECAUSE IF YOU WOULD HAVE JUST A TINY BIT OF STUBBLE ON YOUR CHIN....EVERYONE WOULD LITERALLY FALL BACK IN EVERY WAY FROM BEING AROUND UUU!! STRAIGHT SODT SHUNNING
The leaving of 1935 had a major purpose. Opening door for the Overlapping Generation teaching. - opening dor for the 2nd generation meeting with the 1st generation...
@Lloyd Evans, quoting Sanderson, "The Governing Body has decided that publishers can use their Bible-trained conscience to decide whether to give a simple greeting and welcome a disfellowshipped individual who attends a congregation meeting...While we wouldn't have an extended conversation or socialize with such a person, we do not need to ignore him completely." Does that directive not ignore the very scripture Watchtower uses to condone its disfellowshipping policy? "For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his works." (2John 11) And, isn't it interesting that mature Christians need permission from the Governing Body to use their Bible-trained conscience? What if one's Bible-trained conscience permits one to have an extended conversation with such a person?
I left in 2012 and recently I have been tearing MySelf apart because I cannot seem to stop believing and I am with a loving man who does everything for me because I now have Multiple Sclerosis and am very disabled and he does not want me to go back and I have also fallen in love with a woman and we have all wanted to be together but she lives in Northern Ireland and we have just moved to an adapted property and we have to stay here for at least a couple of years. I have a mental health condition and it affects my life enormously. Now I don’t know what to do. I have reconnected with a witness friend and remembered how much they did for me and I am so torn up by everything.
I liked the book study group at a person's home as one got much friendlier with other members in that sort of environment; am amazed that they stopped that! I remember being taught that one should be sure to keep close to that arrangement because in the future we could expect a ban on JWs to come and we probably would not be able to meet at the Kingdom Hall but only at peoples homes ! Tsk .... this all kind of makes me sad even though I left about 20 years ago .... the changes to 'this generation' makes absolutely no sense to me at all, I remember seeing that video on it a few years ago with it being explained with the use of a whiteboard and it's still utterly baffling
The overlapping generation schtick is so ridiculous. I left in 1980, and the WT explanation was confusing before that. Until I read the Bible without their voices in my head, I didn’t realize it made no sense when you chucked Israel out of the equation. And the last generation started with Israel coming back into being( dry bones and all that.) they really put themselves in a corner with their weird interpretations of scripture.

Your list is spot on, very hard decision in the listing the order but on balance I think you got the order right. On a separate note it would be interesting to know how many anointed JWs there have been since 1914 both dead and alive. I was always taught that all first century Christian’s were anointed with some selected thru the centuries, knowing how many JWs are anointed gives us a clue how many first century Christian’s were about. We were taught that the Greek scriptures were written exclusively for the heavenly calling with the great crowd benefiting from them. I’m sure you would put together how all this fits in
Love your videos. I see 2 JWs each week and we have coffee and a chat. I'm Catholic so the look on their faces when they walk pass my font in the hallway and sit in my lounge with a crucifix on the wall. I think it is so sad. They are trying so hard to convince me they are the truth. We gave so many discussions. I'm hopeful I can convince them with the help of your videos they are wrong. I do feel it's a shame you lost your faith completely due to this organisation .
There are many ex JWs who have joined other religions or who study on their own. Being free from a cult means we can also choose to be agnostic if we choose, nothing sad about that as long as one is happy and fulfilled. Hope it goes well with your meetings with the JWs. Would be interesting to hear how those discussions go, in particular how they defend the blood doctrine, shunning and paedophile protection 🤔
What's the difference between Watchtower and Awake magazines - in content, editorial style etc? Also, the video for change #9 - - - the greeting of disfellowshipped members - - - it always creeps me out... A woman gets out of her car and walks towards the hall, and suddenly this guy just falls into step behind her, like Hitman 2™ or a Gov't spook. It's literally chilling. Second only to the smug couple who think the've found the cure for Cancer just by saying hello to her.

About the 2024 difference about treating people who have been thrown out. I'm one of them for sleeping with a woman. Congregation doesn't know about the reason but they were informed last year that he isn't no longer member of Jehovah's witnesss. (sorry my dictionary might not be the correct one in English. I live in Finland.) So the congregation I'm in and basically been my whole life before getting thrown out, I've always known almost everyone really well and talked in all of the meetings. At the beginning of the meeting again I talked to people a lot knowing I won't be a member anymore. Well after the meeting and ever since I've received only cold faces, no one wanting to greet or talk with me except two brothers. And the two brothers have joined the religion from outside 10-15 years earlier. I believe they feel the pain. Also I'm on the choise now that I've started to think with my own brain that am i going to try join back and keep on living the life and enjoying numerous friends i have. Or i don't go in and keep living my simple life with work, watching sports and hanging out with the few friends i have outside (and couple non so faithful inside. I haven't followed jw stuff in a long time but I'm stuck in traffic and that aggravation is reminiscent of being stuck at meetings as a kid.
Wait what?????????????
@@mikegonzalez503 I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. 🙂
@@Eric_01 when did that become doctrine? I honestly never heard this but I've been out of for over 15 years
@@mikegonzalez503 The "new light" about being able to still jump aboard after Armageddon has started is very new, like less than 6 months old. They're now saying that as long as people join up before the actual end of Armageddon, it will not be too late. Which basically means that there's no real point to living your entire life by their weirdo rules, just wait until Armageddon starts.
another good one Llyod! Thank you and be well.
I can‘t handle the hair change, my faith is crumbling
If any JWs ask about new light and your facial hair tell them it’s within new light understanding and it’s just the result of drinking Iron Bru it’s made from girders.

Eek! Mid-life crisis! Can a Corvette or Ferrari be far behind?
Because of you I finally excepted that I was definitely in a cult. Always felt inept because I could never DO enough. Now I know that I just couldn’t admit that I truly did not BELIEVE. And , Lloyd, love your new hair color. I too am RED. 😄🥰
The shunning change explains why mom sent us Memorial invites this year.
Thanks for doing such a good research. You are helping me put into words the things that never made sense to me growing up.
Re book study - how many people were vilified and brand as “bad associates and spiritually weak” in previous years that missed book studies and meetings so they could work and provide for their family?
I dont think the GB understood a basic lesson we learned in the Wizzard of Oz.
Love this segment! Always look forward to a new video❤
The not reporting of time would've been great to avoid the constant guilt of either not having more hours or for rounding up that half hour here and there 😅
And one has to be Exemplary & Qualified & Trained to stand by a little magazine stand and do nothing. Yong Wuns dont qualify. It’s so ridiculous 🤣🤣
They still report monthly whether they went out or not....
Spot on, as usual.
Agree with your order. Putting a face to the religion was an eye opener. All I could think of is wow there is no way god would choose this clown of all the intelligent and wise men on the earth to represent the most powerful being in the universe.
While I was a JW, I was mad that they require you to be baptized to cart witness because I hated the other forms.
Really enjoy your videos, Lloyd. Please keep them coming
i agree with your count down, a lot of things that you explained helped me understand what was very vague until now
Funny how following a god who alledgedly is not a source of confusion can lead to so much confused thinking.
Thank you Lloyd for this good video. Ciao dall'Italia 👋

Very well done video!! Thank you very much ❤
I think a change that should actually be near the top was doing away with "types" and "anti-types". It invalidated the extrapolation of Daniel's prophecy leading to 1914 (& 1919). It singlehandedly overturned the whole structure of doctrinal authority.
That’s a great one!
Thanks so much Eric! I really appreciate your continued support! 🙏🏻
@@LloydEvans My pleasure, good sir.
Thanks Lloyd :)
The presentation of overlapping generations feels like the content of 60s era reel-to-reel film for school topics, but filmed with modern technology.
Awesome video. Thank you!
New Light = moving the goal posts.

The Overlapping generation change was the first domino to fall for me.
This was excellent!
SOOOO TRUE...BECAUSE IF YOU WOULD HAVE JUST A TINY BIT OF STUBBLE ON YOUR CHIN....EVERYONE WOULD LITERALLY FALL BACK IN EVERY WAY FROM BEING AROUND UUU!! STRAIGHT SODT SHUNNING
Thank you for info and video!!
Spot on
I left in 2012 and recently I have been tearing MySelf apart because I cannot seem to stop believing and I am with a loving man who does everything for me because I now have Multiple Sclerosis and am very disabled and he does not want me to go back and I have also fallen in love with a woman and we have all wanted to be together but she lives in Northern Ireland and we have just moved to an adapted property and we have to stay here for at least a couple of years. I have a mental health condition and it affects my life enormously. Now I don’t know what to do. I have reconnected with a witness friend and remembered how much they did for me and I am so torn up by everything.
Helllloooo Lloyd. Glad to have a video . I have been meaning to say I miss the phone messages replys 😮😂❤
Thanks! I will try to get one uploaded soon 🙂
I always thought that they got rid of the book study groups because they couldnt control the donation boxes in the homes...
I'm still bristling over the beards u turn!

I don’t see any love or forgiveness, just bitterness and endless self-promoting at other people’s expense.
So, you agree with me that you are full of bitterness and an unforgiving person?
I am curious. How did you come across this video?
Do you have a little bit doubt deep down?
Your list is spot on, very hard decision in the listing the order but on balance I think you got the order right.
On a separate note it would be interesting to know how many anointed JWs there have been since 1914 both dead and alive. I was always taught that all first century
Christian’s were anointed with some selected thru the centuries, knowing how many JWs are anointed gives us a clue how many first century Christian’s were about.
I left to become a Christian.
With the carts I’ve noticed that they don’t really want to talk to you, just direct you to the website or advertise their convention
Well done Loyd now I have 15 more reasons to despise my so called family members
On March 12 2018 the scientology tv network was introduced. They also try using video to keep people in. The introduction by their leader David Miscavige was just as cringe.

About the 2024 difference about treating people who have been thrown out. I'm one of them for sleeping with a woman. Congregation doesn't know about the reason but they were informed last year that he isn't no longer member of Jehovah's witnesss.
(sorry my dictionary might not be the correct one in English. I live in Finland.)
So the congregation I'm in and basically been my whole life before getting thrown out, I've always known almost everyone really well and talked in all of the meetings.
