    story 1: I am glad that OP got their money in the end but they did not get nearly what they deserved. Not a single change request should have been done without an addition to the contract and total fee and the original payment should have been made on the first meeting when OP presented the app completed to the requirements of the contract. OP let that company off so easy and they still couldn't conceed gracefully.

    Born Again Christians are very much overzealous in their beliefs. They basically view their POV as the only right one, and everyone else needs to be saved. They don't understand why others don't like them, and attribute it to some other force that just makes them stubborn in their attempts to save you.
    Brian I don't want to be saved, and you shouldn't have ran across the road. She was not a succubus, she was going to a costume party and I was her Designated Driver. Okay she lived close enough to walk, so I was basically a Designated Walker so she didn't hurt herself while walking home. Booze makes me sick, so I don't drink.
    Brian isn't dead, but he is in physical therapy.

    Story 1; sheriffs can do that. There is a process for it, I am willing to believe the sheriff did that. Basically if a judgement is not fulfilled the sheriff can be given a writ to do what he did, force payment or seize assets to auction

    Story 1: This story is yet another lesson as to why you always get your money and dont allow people to walk all over you and keep adding more and more tasks or features to your work. The moment this place kept wanting more and more things, the OP should've immediately stopped and re-quoted the price for everything, because they were clearly taking the OP for a major ride here and trying to get as much as possible for as little as possible. Really glad to see the OP sue this Karen and the company and win too. There was almost no way the Karen was going to win here, especially with her stupid speech in front of the judge... and made even more stupid by not paying right away. Good thing the balliff got the OP their money, otherwise im sure the Karen would've been more then happy to get arrested for contempt of court.
    Story 2: That is such a stupid and ridiculous reason to tell someone not to come home for Thanksgiving.... but i would listen to them and just not show up. Screw them.
    Story 3: It always seems like a new relationship and/or religion either brings out the worst in people, or shows you who they truly are. I think in this case here, it showed the OP what kind of person their dad really was. The whole traveling through the snowstorm was pretty bad, but after that and everything else, i would try and limit or even cut contact with him. The OP is trying, but it doesnt really sound like the dad is.
    Story 4: The dad here is just being a major jerk here. I have two words for the OP here; Nursing Home.

    Story 1: That is so illegal. I really despise companies that feel some need to underpay or not pay someone for their work at all. I’ve had to take former employers or clients to court when they stiffed me. And it’s ridiculous how the company will go to such lengths to defend $2,000 measly dollars that they owe to OP.
    Even if they had won, it would cost them more than to just pay what they owe (considering they had a corporate lawyer). It’s a good thing the judge wasn’t a crook, I’ve know many of them to blindly aside with corporations regardless of whether or not they are in the right. California has a travesty of a joke of a justice system.

    On that first story: Oh, you better believe that sheriff had the authority to carry out that threat. In cases like this where someone refuses to cut a court-ordered check, the state may take *anything* they deem to be of value and auction it to satisfy the debt - within certain limits (e.g. if you have a single old beat-up car you use to drive to work every day, most states will prevent them from taking that car).

      This is probably a case where OP looked at a generic contract online, changed some parts, but never contacted an attorney to lock stuff down for situations like this. It's a side hustle for programmers (ice done it in the past) so sometimes we do stuff for no extra money, hoping for more projects, good recommendations and portfolio proof of concepts.

  • @KaiserAfini

    The original poster was extremely nice, since they increased the project's timeframe several times over (two weeks to a couple of months), yet he didn't even ask to increase the price in proportion to the added features and work hours. He only did so once they demanded an entire second project. Plus its clear the leadership was running around like headless chickens, not even capable of defining a unified vision for the database and its uses.

    The guy with the narcissistic dad of course, he is going to run you down to your sister and the family as well. It's what they do. They will swear up and down they are paying for you and everything else, and you are just a deadbeat. They will even try to play the siblings against each other and have each believe the rest are mean to them; meanwhile, they are milking the "good" child for all they are worth, with none of the others being aware that they are all being sucked dry.

    As a guy with faith myself and understanding the feeling of the dad in the story what he doesn't realize is that you cant force anyone into faith in anyway even if you get someone a few steps in they will very quickly end up turning around never to look back bc people do not react positively to being forced into anything all a person can do to actually get somewhere is basically point them into the right direction when it is needed besides that you end up only pushing people away

    • @elaineb7065

      This in spades!!! You can say you are of faith, you can act according to your faith, you can even advise those who ask about your faith, but at the end of the day, only two people can make a person Christian: that person, & Christ. Not you, not their parent, not their sibling, not their spouse, not their friend, nobody. The Lord wants willing hearts, not those who feel forced into it.

    So on the story of the religious dad she talks early on about how him just wanting to spend time with his children was a trigger for her to see him as a narcissist but why? Because he didn't drive them back and forth or that he wanted to see them on a holiday or because of the storm? I guess it really comes down to how bad the roads and weather was. Next she states that he started hating on women and id really love to know exactly what that involved because if all he did was talk about women in traditional roles then while I understand that grates against her "progressive" feelings I don't know if it can actually be considered hate towards women so I'll just move on from that one. She states that she has had several conversations with him on how she doesn't want to share beliefs anymore and then said that he was trying to find common ground that is not religious based so he's doing exactly what she asked for. That being said it sounds like she's checked out of the relationship for awhile now and has no intention of trying to make a relationship work now that the dad is trying to keep religion out of the equations. And to be fair although I know the poster doesn't want to hear this but probably most of what she believes dose sound like devil worship to a born again Christian, especially one that lived closer to your beliefs before and saw what harm it causes (his alcohol problem and divorce) and was trying to help you not follow in his footsteps. (At least from his prospective) Not saying that's a good reason for him to try and force it on you, just that it is a possible reason and most people, especially parents, don't really understand how to explain themselves in a way that you as the child can understand since all they know is tell you to do something and your supposed to do it in their minds (yes this is toxic but not usually intentionally so just like I said don't know a better way). So I'd try one more time to explain to dad that you want nothing to do with his religion and that if he cant keep that to himself she will no longer be involving herself in his life and if she could preface the conversation with asking him why he thought he should force his believes on her and the whole truth of it, not the religious you must convert to be saved line and if that was the only reason then yeah for her own mental well-being she should probably stay away from him just to avoid conflict and sermonizing.

    Story #3 I disagree that the father is super toxic. I do, however, think that both parties are at fault.
    As a Christian, I know that trying to force someone to change their beliefs does more harm than good, but I can't fault the father for wanting to remain a part of the OP's life.
    I also think the OP is being toxic by being unfairly hateful of their father and mother-in-law because their father changed. People change, and it's unfair to hate someone simply because they are different from what they used to be, especially in a way the OP admitted was better.

      I 100% agree. To be a Christian, you have to initiate your connection to the religion on your own terms. It's normal to want to convert your non-Christian family members or even friends, but there's a point where you have to either stop entirely or show them that there's a positive light to it through actions rather than shoving it down their throats. If they don't want to talk about it, don't force them into talks about it, or you will only reinforce the consensus that Christians are pushy and disrespectful of other beliefs.

    • @lildemonchan7690
      @lildemonchan7690 6 месяцев назад +1

      I also agree that the OP is being a bit inconsiderate or cruel, though I do have to admit that I would be livid too if my parents got divorced and one of them picked living with their new person over a relationship with me.

  • @lildemonchan7690
    @lildemonchan7690 6 месяцев назад

    Story 4: The dad is being unnecessarily cruel with his word choice, but I do see where he could be coming from. After all, the OP is living in his house at 32.
    He should take a moment to think about how to deliver his pov more politely, but she is living in his house. She wouldn't be the jerk if she moved out, but the father wasn’t entirely in the wrong either. She was living in his house, and as the person who pays for the house he does kinda have the right to say when he thinks you aren't doing enough. It's not like he's demanding that she stay either, he said he could do it on his own if she insists that she doesn't want to continue caring for him if he tells her what he thinks. Not sure, but to me it kinda seems like a case where an entitled and people-pleasing grown-child who does basic chores expects to be treated like they are the adult of the household and then goes on the defensive when the dad says anything about her whether it was meant to be constructive criticism based on worry or not.
    I think neither is fully in the right or wrong.

    I feel like with the guy on the A-Team the key part we have to look at. That maybe is playing a part into it because the guy said the original poster said hey can me and the beat team stay there and that’s why they said we don’t and they said we don’t have to written. Some may be the thing is maybe the parents feel disrespected in that story because he saying can me and the beat team come stay they say now ends and I think it’s convenience. But instead of saying OK can I still come stay he’s like no you know I’m going to stay at one of the members houses instead of like I’m coming to stay like his original plan. That’s the only way I see it from the parent side it’s like he wanted to stay as long as the debate team can watch again it makes sense out of convenience. Don’t wanna be where the team is. But maybe that’s the problem that he just chose to go wherever the team went.
