I came here after hearing you on the RUclips Creators Hub podcast. Your stuff is impressive -- focused, helpful and thoughtful. You're focusing on what we need, not on the bells and whistles. Thanks!
@@DannyHatcherTech It is! I'm a huge fan of Dusty and am now getting familiar with Notion, via your vids, to become more organised. Thanks for your vids!
This is great stuff, Danny! I’m an avid user of Notion and have been for quite some time now. Currently, we are forming a team around my video podcast series who can help me with the workload and they’ll have to understand Notion because all the management aspects of the podcast is on Notion. So I’ll definitely recommend this video to them to get them started on Notion. Thanks for keeping this basic and simple for everyone 🤗🙌🏻
I am glad you found the video useful 😁 Notion saved my education, I found it as a 3rd year undergrad and I am not graduating my masters. It has been a life saver. Happy to help where I can.
Hello.. Danny, thank you for the nice video. I like all of your videos related to Notion. Can you please tell me how to navigate from one page to another (pages created in a database) with ease? Is there any keyboard shortcut, or some means to do so in a single step.
Thanks 😁 the easiest way to navigate is through the sidebar or links in pages. Keyboard shortcuts only work for going a aoage forwards and back in your history.
@@DannyHatcherTech Thank you Danny, but the pages which are part of a database does not appear on sidebar. Instead, one can only see different views of a database, not the pages inside the database.
I have a Trading Journal Database in Notion. I have students who pay me to have access to that page. I place new trades and updates to existing trades every day. I will have between 5- to 100 Guests on that page/database. I need to let them know immediately when I add a new trade or update an existing page. I can't figure out how to do that. I don't want to have to @mention (name) 100 times each time I make a new trade. I set reminders for like 5 minutes into the future after I make a trade but I don't think all the Guests will see the reminder. How can I make Notion notify all Guests to a page at once when I add or change something to that page?
Interesting, it is not a use case I have come across before. When people follow a page it should give them a notification when the page is changed, but that means every change. Maybe having each person's name mention in a template button, so you push the button and everyone is all notified?
Thank you so much for making this video! This is exactly what I needed to help me conceptualize what I can do with notion. I had an idea of what I wanted to do with notion, but I still didn’t feel confident enough to plan, much less build. After watching this, I feel like I can actually start building now.
I am glad this was helpful! There are so many aspects to building in Notion but unless you understand what building blocks you have it can be really hard to start. If you have any questions let me know 😁
Thank you. I have question- lets say i have a target 100 km run in this year... And i want when i run everyday example 1km or 2 km in a day ot week, notion give me bar of percent of progress and also show much run i need to complete my target . is this possible in notion ?
@@DannyHatcherTech i have another question For example I have target of daily journaling and in my journaling i add " today learning" (which means what i have learn today ) Let's say , some day I have 5 points, some day i have 9 points, some day 15 points, some day i have 1 points... I want that my all learning points can i see in one page in the end of the months.
@@khurafatimind9195 I would suggest a 'learning' database with all those points, or 'tasks' then you have a linked database view in your journal (daily pages) which is filtered for that day (self referencing filters) then you can have a different filter for the end of the week or month showing all the tasks for that week or month with a different filter on the database. Hope that makes sense. 😁
@@DannyHatcherTech Inside Notion, I would like to insert a link that opens a folder located in my computer ... But it can't be done. I tried to enter a local path, like D: \ PROJECTS \ house XY \ elevations but it doesn't work. It would be very convenient!
Hi, I M just a beginner in notion. Whenever I tried table, the 1 St column of non header rows open up a new page altogether; hence not allowing to add data to that 1 St column. Pl guide as how to solve. Rectify.
I don't use Notion on iPad so am not 100% sure how it works but the first column in a database table will always give you the option to open up as a page. Each entry into a table is actually a page, not a data set like a spreadsheet. If you want to use the database table as a simple table then don't enter any of the pages and just write in the properties. The 'Name' property will always be a text property because of the relation naming but everything else is customizable. I hope that helps.
The first column 'Name' property is how you enter the page or enter the name of the page for relations. Make sure your not clicking on the open option. 😁
Notion sucks. I started with the weekly planner, but it only had 5 days in the week (there are 7 in my timeline), so I wanted to edit the template, but couldn't figure out how to add Saturday and Sunday, so Notion sucks, I'll just use a text editor.
@@sallylauper8222 I am not sure what template you are referring to (mine, Notion default, someone else) saturday and sunday should be in a calendar view. The board view you will need to add that in. The timeline view should also show the weekends. The table and list view are not great for an overview.
Good video, but you have to slow down a bit. The video is suppose to be for beginners. You are going mile a minute and packing too much in a 28 minutes video. SLOW DOWN.
