- Hello everyone!
In this video, you will see how I made a wooden table, bench, and bed with my own hands. I will also show you how to make a creative shelf out of a tree branch and how you can arrange your forest home to be as pleasing to the eye as possible.
For the meal, I prepared soup with fresh eggs, garlic, spices, and smoked homemade sausages.
The lamp you will see in the video is from 1940 and was mainly used in the mines in my area.Carbide lamps, or acetylene gas lamps, are simple lamps that produce and burn acetylene (C2H2) which is created by the reaction of calcium carbide (CaC2) with water (H2O). A very high-quality and efficient lamp. The stay in my dugout is very pleasant and warm for me and my dog.

I have said it before and will say it again. You Sir are Master of Handwork. Sadly a fading group, but I hope those who watch these would be inspired to keep it going. My brother is a Master in woodworking with cabinets and furniture, thankfully he inherited all of our Dads hand tools. I was more on the ink and quill art. Cannot wait to see the finished result.

Using the torch to “finish” the wood is excellent. For years I used a torch on fresh bamboo pieces and they are still good today - 10 years later! Love your work!

Great build... I am 77, My dad inherited my grandfather's what I think they called a brace and bit drill. My dad used a corded power drill, and I use a 20 amp cordless drill. Slow but steady progress. I used the brace and bit as a kid to remove really hard to remove screws to keep from stripping them because you could put all your weight on it. I also use small power stations now when camping as it is safer than butane, propane, or white gas.

Your shelter/cabin is by far one of the best ones I’ve seen. Well thought out, solid, cozy, well built, long lasting. I love the furnishings you added. They really make the place into a comfortable house. Great job! 😊 That carbide lamp was an interesting addition. Haven’t seen one of those used since I was cave exploring. Does the job. That was a carbide lantern? Ive never seen one before. What is carbide? And was that just plain water dripping onto the 'rocks' to make flammable gas? Looks very effective and slightly dangerous
@@luxonbushcraft Yes, I believe it was a carbide lantern. Miners used those before they went to electric lamps. Not sure if carbide occurs naturally or not, but when you drip water on it, it releases hydrogen gas. I used one of those cave exploring back in the 70s. You just carried water and extra carbide to resupply the lamp, if necessary.
@@813lem Carbide, when interacting with water, releases acetylene gas. It is used in machines for welding and cutting metals.
I had a friend years ago who discovered acetylene lamps, as he called them. He had his water drip set low, so it produced an intense, yet smaller flame. It was small enough to stay within the reflector, but extremely bright when reflected.
His was designed to attach to a helmet.
I love your videos and the shelters (homes) you build. You are truly gifted with natural talent in building and making it look easy. But you also give it a cozy feel as well. Thank you for taking g us along on your adventures! I love your dog and the relationship you share! Take care of each other.

How warm does it get inside with wood stove? I'm guessing very warm as you insulated it with a plastic membrane on outside with earth UpTo the outside.
