I'm glad I came across your video! I also appreciate the honesty with the journal. Pondering if this would be worth it to me and you posed some great thoughts!
Oh Peggy, I’m so glad that my video has helped give you some things to think about! If you do end up getting one, if you want to come back and share your experience, I’m sure someone will appreciate your thoughts! 😊
I really appreciate your honest feedback. A lot of what you mention about vaguely reading emails and feeling bombarded is what prevented me from tapping into this the first time I came across the planner. But also the reason why I want to circle back an give it a fair shot. Thanks!
Oh I’m so glad that you’re circling back to this! Some seasons we can handle things better than others. If you do get this now that you feel your in a better place with that, I hope it doesn’t feel overwhelming. I’d suggest, as with any new planner or journal, to just focus on what you think you need at the moment and be okay with leaving some areas or pages blank. I’m sure lots of value can be gained from these journals even if you don’t do every single thing that comes with it. 😊
I absolutely love S+S! July is my 17th journal! I really look forward to it every day. I hope you give it a chance. The app has a lot of good info on using the pages or repurposing them to better fit your needs. The Sonder Socials are great and I attend several a month!
I’m glad you love it! I really wanted to like it on first impression. I was hoping for more writing prompts & guidance in the journal itself. I just prefer to not have to reply on an app to do the heavy lifting, but I understood that for many people that’s fine. I hope this journal continues to serve you well! It clearly works for some and that’s what matters!
@@CreatingSelfCarePlans , but there are more writing prompts. Did you ever check out the daily rituals? There are tons of those on the app, and I find them extremely useful. There is one for every day, but they also offer access to a huge library if you want more.
@@elizabethkosmetatou5367 I’m glad having access to the prompts in the app works for you. For myself, I wanted to have the actual prompts in the journal itself. I know they had them in the app and I’m glad they are offered that way for people who want to use them. I just find that it’s easier and more convenient if they would have been printed into the journal. Or even if they had a separate booklet with just prompts that would be included. Just anything other than making me go into a phone app.
@@CreatingSelfCarePlans , sure, but, the way you put it, it is an incomplete review and therefore somewhat unfair. It's like reviewing a foreign language course consisting of a book and a workbook, choosing to look at a workbook, and complaining about the lack of resources that would be associated with the workbook, which exists but is not reviewed and therefore put together with the whole "business plan" so to speak. No peer-reviewed publication would publish it, trust me, it's my job to know that. Conversation is over.
@elizabethkosmetatou5367 I appreciate your input. Again, I’m glad you enjoy using your journal and it works for you. I always try to be clear with my experience when I post reviews. Sometimes, I’ve only looked at the item and other times I’ve actually used them. If after watching this you felt like I mislead you, I apologize. For the stage of my self-care journey that I’m in, I didn’t feel like this journal was something that would be of benefit for me to use. Again, if that wasn’t clear during the video, I apologize. In no way was this review meant to turn people away from Silk & Sonder. In fact, I share most of their Instagram posts to my Stories because I believe in a lot of the messages they share with their community. I hope that you continue to get great value from their journal. 😊
I subscribed for 6 months. While I was initially focused on the self care aspect, I felt stressed to keep up with everything on a daily basis. If you sign up, you'll get daily messages from Maha. If you don't click on the daily message, you'll get a "reminder" that's it's not too late for your short daily check in. I began to hate those check ins! Then it became too much to tract this and tract that and be constantly centered on self care I just wanted to be less stress and this was not helping. If I didn't do the daily work, I felt guilty. I felt like I was wasting money if I didn't use the book every single day. It's a pretty journal but in my opinion, there's too much work to be done to enjoy it.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your experience. I can imagine that you probably felt a relief when you were no longer subscribed. I think that part of the self-care journey is figuring out what we need more of and what we need less of. For most of us, we are overcommitted, over scheduled and have our attentions pulled in a million directions. In my journey, one of the things that I did to help myself feel less stressed was to cut out things that weren’t serving me. And I started doing more of the things that I knew would help me cope, like journaling. But the type of journaling I’ve always done has just been open ended in a lined notebook. No prompts. Just writing out whatever comes to mind. Part of my journaling is a recap of the events that day. I write as if I were telling someone else about my day. And in that process, I’m able to wrap my head around my feelings about the day. The act of journaling gives me that time to myself to think things through - in a world where we just go, go, go without pausing. Anyway, I hope that you haven’t given up entirely on the benefits of journaling because of your experience with S&S. Best wishes in your journey! 💕
Yeah, but you don't have to get the notifications. I've been journaling with S&S for 13 months, and I don't allow notifications. And I haven't missed a day. Personally, I actually find it very useful.
That would be a great idea! I think a lot of their teachings around prioritizing self-care would be great if packaged in a way that people who are happy with their existing planner can get that to supplement. 😊 Thanks for watching!
I'm glad i watched this and haven't spent money on this. I'm looking for perfect journal/ planner all in one that is a spiral not hardcover but this one is weirder and not as good as the 52 week undated ones ive tried so far
I love the idea of this journal, but I do think it misses the mark in some areas. I agree with you that it should be a quarterly publication. I also think the weekly section should be reformatted. But I love everything else.
Thanks for watching! I agree. I like what’s inside but feel like for it to be called a “journal” it should be formatted more like one. Maybe instead of a weekly spread, it could be daily pages that have a dedicated section for prompted journaling. Maybe even some reminders for what should be done each day, like to review the weekly overview where the weekly habit tracker, meal plan, etc. are or even the sleep & mood trackers up front. I would have a difficult time remembering everything I’m supposed to fill out unless there was guidance on the weekly pages to remind me. Just that kind of change would make this more appealing to me to use as my daily journal.
Maybe you need to read more about the company itself before you start making judgments about something you don’t know. Because it clearly you don’t not do a clear view of the product before you made this video.
To be clear, I don’t think this journal is a bad product. My opinions expressed are based on what I read on there website, this specific issue, and my purchase experience. While I don’t think this journal makes a great fit for my needs at this time, I do understand that this journal and accompanying community are great for many. I’m assuming that you’ve benefited from Silk & Sonder and, if that’s the case, I love that for you. I’d been following them on IG and email for a while before purchasing this. I really wanted to like it for myself, but I just didn’t and that’s okay with me. We all have varying needs & likes. That’s why I like to review things that I’m not using because someone else might like it. If this wasn’t made clear in my video, my apologies.
@@CreatingSelfCarePlans I appreciate your honest review and I'm thankful for you and others who have reviewed the product and also do not financially benefit from people buying it. This is also not for me. It's also wayyy too expensive and I have heard people say there are issues cancelling and that the S & S online community comes off a bit cultish.
@@dsimone3720 the cancellation process required me to email them. For some reason, when I ordered, there was a glitch in my account set-up so it never gave me a login. I love how in-depth and thorough this review is. Very well done. I think our brains work the same which helps. :)

Off Amazon in early 2023, but it’s showing out of stock now. It’s the Logitech K380 Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard for Mac in the color Rose.
