I have to admit, I love it when you 'talk to' Duke. You're really talented being able to do a back and forth like that!

The only time I ever had an interest in pools in a Sims game was when I was playing through The Sims Bustin' Out "story line"...thing. When you got to the gym, you were stuck living with a couple of douches that had a pool and a really Reeeally tall diving board (oh...diving boards...). I make them jump off the diving board, pause the game while they were in mid-air, and delete the pool. They would hit the ground face first and be confused as balls. I got Way too much enjoyment out of it.
That sounds like fun. I should do that next time XD.
It's more fun than it should be, haha.
Sims Bustin Out had some of the most creative content out of the whole Sims franchise in my opinion and the story line was fun yet really challenging.
hollaylay09 I agree, there are more than a few things in there that I'd love to see return in the main Sims game.
I miss the Sims Bustin' Out so much, and Sims Urbz.
Best Sims games so far in my opinion, not that the rest aren't great too.
I remember it like it was yesterday.
It was 2009, my sister was moving out and I was 10. She gave me her old laptop, I went out to the store and bought my copy of the sims 3.
I logged onto youtube and found your videos relating to it, been watching ever since.
the duke nukem impersonations and clean, swearless humour is just amazing.

I completely forgot what the old sims 4 layout looked like..... I saw the loading screen and I was hit with mild nostalgia from a few years ago. Crazy how far this game has come, and how little they’ve actually done with it.... rip EA
EA's cycle of appraisal is a strange one.
Don't put content in game, Get shouted at. Wait for the hate to die out, then release a free content patch and get a shower of golf claps and people saying what a lovely thing they did from their hearts.
They totally did it because they love you and not because they realised they can't sell stuff packs if no-one owns the game, right ?!
They probably did it because they didn't want to procrastinate the release, and also they wanted to now which missing features do the players want the most? Because if there weren't so much hate because of the lack of pools, they most likely wouldn't add it.
They did, I believe, because it took so long to get the new simulation technology powering the Sims up and running properly. Yes, the game does have to get out the door at a certain point. People can say things like "why not just delay the game", but EA is a company that employs thousands of people and pays them salaries. Delaying a game means there is no money coming in to keep the lights on while they finish it. By putting it out there and patching in the stuff they didn't have time to add, later, they can maximize the use of their time and costs.
I'd be curious to know how many old Simmers have not bought this game compared to previous ones percentage-wise. (You can count me in that number.) I do have to say I haven't seen as many people making Sims 4 videos, and when you've got a guy like LGR only putting out a handful (and sounding meh'ed every time he does it) that's not a good sign.
***** im in the same percentage. I have every expansion pack for sims 2 and 3, and a bunch of dlc. By my calculations they have well over $1000 of my money. But the sims 4? No thank you and watching the lets plays only cemented my decision, the game is boring as hell. Im just going to stick with the sims 3, which I *love* and see what happens if the sims 5 comes out.
your cynical. they probably couldn't finish making the pool by the expected realese date or if they include the pool then it woudl have preformance issues. thaught well this is a minor feature more asthetic then anything so shurly they won't notice got hate mail decided well fuck it hear it will make your savegame bloat like hell but you asked for it. or they always planed to realease it couldn't get it done on time so they realease the game then give it out as a FREE patch emphasis on free EA COULD have added it in an expansion but didn't this is evidence that they DO care about more then making money otherwise they would have made you pay for it.
more evidence that EA is/has started caring less about money and more about the consumers there digital store orgin gives away free games not free for two days not free for a week free forever not just small games either they gave away dragon age orgins for free that's a massive game. they probably still care about money but not above all else otherwise they wouldn't give anything out for free

Not that it's good your saves corrupted/broke, but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble with the game. Mine has been glitching a lot lately. I have no clue what's wrong with it. :(
I've had so many glitches with mine too. I had whole families and sims disappearing from my town completely. Basically, my neighbourhood is filled with single mothers now so I stopped playing.
It's an issue I often had with The Sims 3; either the game would start stuttering so much on a save that it would be unplayable, or it would simply not save properly (or get totally stuck when travelling to or from the future/university)
AngelStardom I have an idea: Patches.
It's always when EA patches a game to "fix" something, that it does more harm than good. :/
***** I'm willing to bet that's it. I don't know if the other patches might be the cause, but I do know ever since the one that installed pools, it's been glitching like crazy. It also shut down on me twice, but that was before the pool patch.
AngelStardom Knew it. :/ I don't' know what's going on with the people at EA, but they're screwing people over on all their games. Not just Sims. :/

+Gotou canario you missed my point, my point was about the original argument ea came for the reason there was no pool on release.
acording to them, this new engine was superior in every aspect, but, for some reason, it didnt support pools.
dont let that fool you, they were planing on selling it later on as one of the big addons, but the backlash was too big, and they got cold feet.

Still doesn't feel like a sims game. While playing it, I still feel lonely and it feels like everything is SO far away. I always find myself playing the Sims 3 again.

Man, I feel so sorry for the developers. EA rushed them to release the game so they couldn't give it the time it needed, and then they've had to handle all the backlash. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the devs were disappointed with the game they had to put out, either.
Sunglasses not reflecting in the water probably has something do with the reflection adding a blender to the models and overwrites the sunglasses blender, or the blenders combination caused problems.
I need more before I buy.

Open world would require a massive rework of the game. If they do add it it should be optional. TS3 lags a lot on my laptop on the lowest settings compared to the sims 4 I get 60+ FPS on the lowest settings. Not that I hate the open world.

I used to play Sims 1 and 2 back in the old days with all of their expansions. Am only now catching up with TS3 and TS4. Your videos are hilarious man, it's as fun watching them as actually playing the game. Keep it up!

I'm still waiting on the Toddlers, and if those don't end up making an appearance in the Sims 4, I won't be purchasing it. I've watched a couple of let's plays, and it looks weird as hell for a baby to turn into a child. Sure the toddler stage was the most useless, but it added needed realism to the game. Not saying Sims was ever realistic, but I think some aspects need to stay for it to still be considered a simulation of real life.

At 25min you can see a Rebel Fighter Pilot walk by the window when they are eating with Death. I love that you always come up with the craziest stuff to do in a Sims game.
I really wish they had kept the open world from the Sims 3. I haven't moved on from Sims 3 (I don't even have any expansions for it, and still have fun with it), just because taking away the open world feels like a huge step back.
If I remember correctly there was not hot tubs in the beginning of the Sims 3 as well.

my decision to wait till a few EP come out was definitely the right one. I'm glad they added pools though! I love the combo of having pools and weather because it just makes the game feel more realistic.

Well, it's good to be a Mac user for once; at the time when Sims 4 is released on Mac, all of the essential and quintessential functionalities that should've been added to the game since launch will be added already. Oh well, dreaming is free and all we can do is hope

I'm almost glad that there's no sims 4 on mac yet... I've seen so many glitches and problems in sims 4 videos, and instead of focusing in getting a mac version out, they decided on making pools. -_-

Not EA's fault, imo. If you want to play video games, you shouldn't have gotten a Mac. Gamers are on PC so companies don't lose a lot by taking their time or not even releasing a Mac version.

Nah it was a free update, not an expansion, thankfully.
Well, it was a free addition. I actually give EA props for updating the game with things like pools, ghosts and extra careers all for free, because they could have easily charged for it in an expansion. Sure it could have been added on release, but EA is giving us what we want and they're doing it for free, so I commend them for that. With recent releases like Destiny, where they plan on charging for content that should have already been added, it's a breath of fresh air. Yeah, the Sims 4 was missing a lot of stuff, but I am glad EA seems to be learning from their mistakes and it definitely improved my image of the company because they actually listened to the fans for once.
True, they could have charged for this as part of an expansion (at the risk of fans raging against it). It makes the game feel a little less hollow, but it still isn't the awesome sequel to Sims 3 that people were expecting.

You were hoping to connect that above ground pool and ground level pool - I wonder if you could do that by changing how deep the above ground pool was. That would be awesome :)
Wouldn't that, in real life, make the above ground pool just a shallow part of the ground level one with high walls? I dunno, I'm probably wrong.
I wish pools were a good enough incentive to return to this game again but as it should have been part of the base game anyway *siigh*. Why didn't they just make a Christmas release instead of rushing it out over the summer? Did anyone else find the gameplay really underwhelming though? I mean it just seems really restrictive, not much room for creativity or imagination anymore.. idk.... I think I prefer TS3. Glad I left it installed.

I have yet to play with the pools yet, but it looks like I should! Between the actual release video and this one, they look like fun! Plus the new features are nice. :) Though I had no idea you cold adjust the depth of the pool! And FYI, I own several wolf shirts in real life! That's why my Sim self in TS4 is also wearing one! :p And weird, we could put the fountain sprayers in pools in TS3, but then again, TS4 took a lot away so it's not that surprising to me. Anyway, another great video! Now I have to build a pool!

Maxis has historically been pretty good about re-adding stuff they removed in new installments for free. If I remember correctly they did this with hot tubs and some other stuff in the sims 3

I still find it dumb in the modern days of computers that sims 4 is lacking in stuff . Though Duke has pizza . :) .
I lol'd when the glasses didn't reflect properly. This will be because transparent objects are rendered differently to solid objects, and either they have forgotten to take that into account when rendering the reflections, or the chose to remove it because of performance.
The interior feels like an SNES dungeon with all those water sections.
