The Sims 2: Castaway is one of the many weird, quirky Sims spinoff games that mainly thrived on consoles. I have very fond memories of this game: building huts, befriending monkeys, exploring temples, but most of all- survival. Let's play!

My mom randomly got me this, introducing me to the sims franchise. Imagine my confusion when I played the sims 3
Lmao, I can just picture you sitting there, ‘Wow they finally got off the island, but how?’ 😭
omg i played Sims Medieval before any other Sims games and was trying to find the quests for days!
I weirdly have the exact same experience
literally same@@ellalizzle
It was such a gem I truly didn’t appreciate it when I had a chance
Traumatized by this game because I built the hardest mansion you could make once, it took forever, and it burned entirely the same day. Never touched it again.
Ohhh noooo so sad😭😭😭 bless uuu ❤
Yo that's fucking soul crushing fuck... I'm sorry for your loss
Yea, the fact that the game had a memory limit per lot, and if you got over it something would spontaneoustly catch fire was bad. Did the same thing has you did, but then had to make my sims sleep on the floor brcause I couldn't put enouth beds.
Iconic
I'm traumatized for you 😢😂
The fact this one game has more gameplay than the entire sims 4 franchise…
💀 😂 👏🏼👏🏼
sims 4 is such a joke
LITERALLY
@@friskybriskyy3997 life bye me for the win in the future )
Hahaha true
The sims 2 castaway game is unironically one of my favourite childhood games
Yes this and sims 2 on Nintendo ds
omfg same i miss it so much. i played it on ps2
SAME!!!
@@greenbanana1001sims 2 DS games was crazy, the music walking into a room with aliens or robots used to terrify me
im so glad other people fully appreciate this iconique game 😭😭😭
this is legit one of the best games ever im so sad its not on pc
@@swedenfinest1there’s always emulators if u wants to! That’s how I got to play again lol
Honestly these spin off were GOLDEN like I don't understand why they did stop creating them??? I love them so much. Sims urbz was my fave for sure.
Omg yes Sims Urbz I completely forgotten about that one! I also loved the medieval one
Urbz and The sims 2 castaway (console version) were my favorite Sims games.
they used to be so goooodddd
I really hope that project rene ends up being a spinoff game, i miss those
@@wildernessisland2573 what is that??
I played this game religiously as a kid and I still had no idea about the crystal island and contacting the aliens! Early sims games had unmatched amounts of content
Yeah, it's sad that they turned it into nothing but a DLC simulator
@@OriginalContent89and not even good DLCs 😂😂
Micro transactions are the worst.
I would love to see you play the sims 2 ds!! its such a weird game; defeating aliens while running a hotel and doing dubious chores
I was just about to comment this!!! Would love to see you play this 😁
Yessss! was there a rat moment too or was that a fever dream ??
@@aliceb-t232 yea!!! you had to wear a rat suit to defeat the „enemies“ 😭😭
This comment unlocked a deep memory lmao
yessssss I remember building something in this game but it would take real life hours to be done, so I reset my DS time to a few hours ahead. When I opened the game they put my sim in JAIL for cheating 😭 I remember being so scared 😂
Sims 2 and 3 were such gems !!!I’m so sad EA is slowly ruining their most popular franchise
after a decade of having it, althought i only played like 15hours, i discovered that you can’t find other sims on the islands if you only made one sim, YOU HAD TO MAKE THEM!
I used to play this game on my 2ds, always got stuck at the bridge and would COMPLETELY restart.
Me too 😂😂 I never had any idea what to do!!
HELP I COULD NEVER PROGRESS PAST THE BRIDGE EITHER I NEVER KNEW WHERE TO GET I THINK THE LEAVES (vividly remember a monkey once bringing me one and i thought thats the only way to get them but it was so rare i never acc got to the point of collecting enough)
Omg I loved this game as a kid!! I still enjoy playing Castaway as an adult to this day. I love the added survival, exploration and crafting that they did. I could only dream that they'd make another like this! The sims console/handheld games in general are just the best
Random question, I love how in the sims 2 castaway, their hair (and beard) grows depending on how long the sims have been on the island, which brings me to ask one thing. If the creators knew how to do long hair in the games, why couldn't they make really long hair for each Sims generation? And not just waist-length hair.
Interestingly most human hair tops off at 3 ft in real life
they also progressively got tanner over time too!! such a cute detail ;3;
It's not that they couldn't, theyre just slacking and lazy unfortunately.
@@MsChifran That's true, which can be seen in the Sims 4 even.
its the same reason why we don't have little animations in the sims 4 like opening the kitchen cabinets to take out a spoon, like there are in the sims 2 even though thats nearly a 20yr old game. they're lazy. when ea bought out maxis, the quality of the series went down the drain because at the end of the day they really only care about profit. will wright + maxis made the sims special. nowadays the sims 4 "team" just hires a constant stream of freelancers to come in, do the work as quickly and cheaply as possibly, and then be dismissed while another team is brought on. so essentially this way there's never any "core" team or real improvement/structure. its just become a vapid money making system. also why the EPs in the sims 4 in recent years have been so terrible, but they don't care bc ppl keep buying them.
This being the Vampire Diaries cast is what actually makes this your best video yet, Liss.
oMg how are the monkeys not fun?!
Even in the Sims, Stephan and Elena are and OTP… 🤦🏼♀️
this game is literally one of my iconic childhood memories!!! reliving the absolute best times through this
oh my gosh i remember playing this game as a kid! :D Its so weird to think about it, i bought it randomly for 2€ on a market and was so confused the whole time
I'd love to see you play The Sims: Midevil! It was the only spin-off my mom had and, even though it was too complicated for me, I loved the silly vibes
Medieval
This is probably one of my favorite childhood games. I’ve been playing it since i was 7 and im 20 now, I was OBSESSED. it’s a very niche sims game that not many people know about? it’s amazing .
So happy youre doing this one! I have such fun memories of playing this at my friends house, both of us having no idea what we were doing but having fun anyway!
this unlocked a core memory i didnt even know i had?? i LOVED the editing in this vid btw!!!
The Sims Medieval! You can really stir up some drama and it’s more of a storyline but you definitely have more autonomy to pick and choose which direction to take!
Omg I remember playing this as a little kid and being too scared to farm the liana for clothes because of the scary skeleton in the woods. Was stuck on the beginner island for years because of this reason 😭
same !!!
Had this on ps2. Sooo many hours spent building little shacks. I always built my huts in the caves because they didn’t degrade over time.
I was OBSESSED with this spin-off. It was the first game i've ever played on my ps2 thanks to my dad who introduced me to it. I had problems with bullies and sleeping at night and i swear it helped me going through everything. I used to spend so much time playing this game that i memorized every single song that you can hear from the airplane radio.
I will always love llamas island🥺❤️
Hope your life is free of bullies and full of kind people now Alice🫂
@@JianimalGamingoh yes it is, thanks❤️
@@Favtsahik Happy to hear!! 😊
I have such fond memories of playing this game as a child even though I SUCKED 😂 every playthrough I got stuck, apparently very early on, where you had to build a bridge and I just never figured out how. Haven't thought about this in years. Don't even know there were multiple Sims ... since I never got so far lol
Thank you for sharing this video. I have played the Nintendo DS version and it is so different and I found it to be a bit short the game. But this is up my alley I’ll definitely be checking it out.
I only playe it on the es and now I see what I missed by only playing it on that console
This was the game that got me into survival games.
Please do all the different console spin offs. They were my favourite things as a kid and it's so much fun showing them to people. The Sims 2 ds and psp versions are my fav. The plotlines are so insane and wacky, from the ds one where you fight aliens with water guns and can play a space invaders mini game to win biiig money and having to work for a mob boss then the sims 2 psp where you uncover the mystery of the occult and have fourth wall breaking conversations with the antagonist and the connections to the families in the mainline sims pc games is so good!!
I used to play this but I remember being frustrated when my sims girl kept rejecting my boy sims from getting married. So, I just left her and escape alone😂
i used to be OBSESSED with this game on ds... its like probably my first game i actually played truly. JUST TOO GOOD
all of the spinoff sims games are so good in completely different ways its crazy
i remember the earthquakes used to scare me so bad as a kid! 😭 i’m not sure i knew exactly what they were and i was terrified my sim would die lmao
This game was SOOO fun even though it took 20 minutes to load into each zone 😂
omg i have core memories of playing this or something like it on DS as a little kid and i could never get past the freaking peppers part of the tutorial 😭
this was my first Sims game and I was absolutely OBSESSED
my first sims game was literally mysims and it changed me as a human
Omg I remember fishing in this game, old memories 😂 I also liked playing sims 3 Medieval, wish sims series gave us more stuff like this to make our game more versatile
This game was my childhood, but I was never able to make it to the third island! Thank you for satisfying my curiosity ❤
One of my fave games of all time is Sims Bustin Out. You should play it! It was made for the GB advance but can be played on a simulator
I had this on ps2, I loved it.
I had this for the PS2 and me and my mom played it all the time. Those are some of the best memories when I was little of me and my mom and she recently made a save on my PS2 💜
that's so wholesome
Sims bustin out is STILL on of my favourites of the spin off it’s so fun I can’t wait for you to play it!
I never got anything in this game , like I literally didn’t even know how to build a shelter 😂 and occasionally go and talk to the monkeys . My sim would just catch fish and burn a fire but for some reason as a kid it was so fun . I genuinely don’t think I was aware you could do anything with it
Sims Castaway and Sims Medieval is among my most favourite game ever. It's unique and still have the sims quirk that we love
Sims 2: castaways is my roman empire. Also, Urbz: sims in the city was the BEST sims game and I think they should re-do it as an adult game
this game is imprinted deeply into my brain because when i was seven years old, my family went to the philippines to see family for a month and they let me bring my psp. and the only game on my psp was the sims 2: castaway. so whenever i had nothing better to do while staying at my grandparents house (which was often, with me being 7 years old in a foreign country) i would do nothing but play the sims 2: castaway over. and over. and over again. this is a formitive memory for me
i got this from a block buster so long agooo 😭 still one of my favs
I LOVE that game! Was probably my favorite Sims ever!
This was literally one of my first sims games as a child. I had it on the ps2 and I beat it so many times.
Pls tell me you know every single song on the airplane radio, PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT THE ONLY ONE
I bought castaway on wii and that is the ONE game i couldn't beat to save my life but I. LOVED. IT. the survival aspect is what i needed!! the monkeys were my favorite part about it
FINALLY someone is talking about this. Everyone always thinks I’m talking about castaway stories but this was its own amazing beast that I adored. I still have my copy and plan to replay it sometime.
i love seeing u play different games 🤍🤍 hope u're doing well liss!!
My sister and I used to rent this game for the PS2 ALLL THE TIMEEE it was our favourite! I Loved watching you play. Thanks for the throwback!
Yay, love that you are playing all of these all the way through. I always wanted to play these back in the day! It’s a great way to experience them through your play throughs, so thank you 🤗
i only played castaway on my psp bc that was the only game i had for it LMAO it was so good i loved it! i hadnt really experienced regular sims games either so that was something
This is bringing back memories of all the types of sims I played on ds, Wii, Xbox, pc 😭 I feel so old
OOOO YES! liss, been here since ACNH 2.0 and im really loving the videos youre making now! tysm
I love how this one was voiced with two words in mind: enjoyable disdain
I had the DS version and I remember loving it for some weird reason.
was not expecting this to be a plot accurate vampire diaries sims castaway au but i'm not mad about it.
That moment when you are trying to put the moves on someone and some wild pig has beef with you. Mood.
This was my first sims game on Playstation 2, I was young but my sims game started here
the ds version is a fever dream that i replay to this day 💀
That was fun to watch! This was my childhood game and i couldnt find the game anywhere so i had to find someone playing, thank you so muchhhh
LOVE the nostalgic deep dive vids!!! So fun so epic
This video is so fun. I just loved seeing you adventure through this game! Thanks.
we got this disk from a thrift shop a few years ago. i remember playing it with my sister every after school. we never got to finish it so i just watched the endings here on youtube, but ut was so fun! i recently started playing sims 4 (due to it being made free) and oh my gosh, i remember how confused i got when i found out it was so different lololol.
I played it on the PS2. A friend of mine and me once spent over 24 hours playing it. We for to the point of fixing the radio, but didn't call anyone becuase we wanted to do more. We even built the biggest house possible. It was so much fun.
Sims 2 Castaway is my favorite sims game.
This is the game that introduced me to the sims franchise, i remember having ideas on how to get out of the first island on my sleep because i was a very dumb child.
idk why but i absolutely loved sims bustin out. would love to see you play through it!
This video was great ! I cant wait to see you play the rest of the series :)
This was my fave PSP game before. So nostalgic. Now I wanna play it again.
just found your channel and the nostalgia i feel from my childhood!! Love this video
I loved this game so much that it was part of the reason i got a reverse compatible ps3. I continued to play it until probably 2015 or so, where i'd played so much that the loading screens weren't worth it anymore. Something then happened to the disc and i couldn't play it at all anymore. I think i also had it for gba or maybe ds, i can't remember now, but the gameplay was different enough i didn't enjoy it as much.
In college, i did end up purchasing a copy of castaway stories for the pc but i was unable to get it to work properly and eventually broke my external disc reader so gave up on that, too.
This video is a huge nostalgia hit.
Just found your channel and I love your commentary. Honestly so funny and engaging, keep it up!
as a kid ive clocked in so many hours into this game but never realised how much i actually missed. i never figured out how to progress past a certain area cause i didnt know where to get certain materials but i thought i still had like 80% of the game completed. BRO I WAS LIKE AT 20% i cant breathe 😭😭😭 also the boar can attack you, so many of my sims have fell victim to that damn boar
"I decided to make the Vampire Diaries crew" Oh Im in. Old Sims + VD peak nostalgia
Thank you that was so much fun. I remember really liking this game when I had it on the Wii but I couldn’t get good at it. It was awesome to see you get so far.😄❤️
they need to bring back these games; specifically sims medieval and castaway. they're so fun!
I love how half into the video she said “I don’t know why no one wants to romance me” like she doesn’t even notice her sim stinks and that’s probably why lmaoo
I need Urbz and Sims Midevial so mad. I remember loving Urbz as a kid and i so so so wanna see a full playthrough and deep dive from you
How are you only at 170k+ subs? You’re a joy to watch! I discovered you earlier today and love your stuff so far!
SIMS MEDIEVAL!!!! I was so obsessed with that game.
I originally played it on the ps2 and I was obsESSed with this game. As a kid, I would make my family and friends as sims.
omg this is one of the only games that i vividly remember playing as a child so ik it lwft an impact
This was fantastic, you are fantastic. I will watch any of these sims game/old games videos!
This was the start of my love for survival crafting games I guess. So good!
This game atmosphere is simply amazing
This video give me so most nostalgia 😢
This is by far my most liked game in my childhood
THE NOSTALGIA!!!! OMGGG!!!! You're a G for playing this classic title Liss!! I remember rage quitting because I couldn't find my fourth crew member. good times
Gosh, i played this on the PS2 and before watching this, i would remember (but not fully) of a Sims game where I was trapped on an island but could never remember the name. It honestly felt like a fever dream but it was a great game! Brings back old memories
Sims 3 castaway is my absolute fave game hahaha loved it so much! Wish they’d bring this back!
Sims 2 Castaways, Sims 2 Apartment Pets and Sims 3 Pets on the DS were my FAVORITE games ever on the DS when I was a kid 😭 I played them SO MUCH
I have been keeping an eye out for island survival adventure games and this one looks like it will make the list!
This game unknowingly was the granddaddy of survival games. Many of the mechanics in this game became staple in survival craft games we have now.
Really?! That’s so interesting wow!
Maybe for 3D survival games, Unreal World came out in the 90's and has all the mechanics you expect from a "survival" title but it's just not in 3D.
This was my second favorite sims spin off on DS. #1 was Sims 2 for DS, hotel management simulator
Sims 2 castaway was a banger.
I remember my cousin showing me this game and i was completly amazed at how much these characters could do
I just started the video and I just wanted to say you look amazing! The hair. The makeup. 😘👌 it’s very 70’s. your style is so cool!
I remember spending DAYS playing this gamenomg, then I found the sims castaway stories for PC and fell in love with it too.
this one is my favorite all time sims game I miss it so much I think about getting another ps2 to play it again I love how different it was and you have so much stuff to harvest so fun
