i think the sims 4 would have ended up better if they hadn't repurposed project olympus' garbage into the sims 4's garbage. maybe not a lot better, but anything is better than what we got. (who knows, maybe they would have taken the series down a better route too)

this is what the sims was meant to be. I was so baffled the new games removed story modes. without any goals to work towards, what am I supposed to do other than...build a pretty house, I guess? if sims had kept story goals I'd probably still play to this day. I was obsessed with this game and Sims 2 on my PS2 as a kid and the handheld games are fantastic, I highly recommend playing all of them!

I think a free roam mode with achievements / goals / one MAJOR goal to work towards with the ability to keep playing after finishing it would be a good compromise.
I wouldn't be opposed to a wacky full-blown story mode in Sims 5 but I will be extremely surprised if they decide to do that again.

I played this when it came out when I was a teenager. I had a lot of fun, even though the main story could be a slog. My strategy was once I moved out from Mom's I would max out all my skills and that way I could focus on career unlocks. Once I met the career's requirements to move out I would get another career path and then keep leveling up and moving. Made the game much more fun that way.
And yeah, you can totally skip Sims 1 as the story mode was not as fun. The free play mode was arguably much more fun tho.

Something I noticed when I played this game again a few years ago is that, if youre living at your moms house and your simoleons dip down into double digits, someone will call you on the phone and give you money. So what I did was bought a shit ton of expensive items (cause it doesnt count for assets) and when I left, my mom PAYED ME MONEY BACK for upgrading all of her furniture. I also just grinded away at skills so when I left I was at highest level possible and I never had to worry about buying skill machines for my character

By the way, there is a exploit to make this game much easier. You need to do it before you leave your mom's house. Basically certain needs, like sleeping, do not completely drain. So, you can spend as much time as you need building up all your skills before you leave. This means that you will be able to get promoted quick and you can spend more of your time focusing on the other goals.

I used to play Sims busting out with my big sister on her XBOX, I’m the little sister so I got to have fun watching her play, we used to make up stories together while she was playing lol This game was genuinely very difficult but I still have tons of memories of us in Dudley’s trailer or Mimi’s place, I remember we once got to Pixel Acres after months and we thought we were killing it with how far in we got XD

    Great video!!
If you ever play again, the game is a little easier if you do the other carrier paths simultaneously, because some of the unlocks increase your mood stuff quickly. Also, your spouse can focus on making friends that count as "family friends" for career promotion.
but only a little easier, still a hard game.

This was one of my favourite games as a kid. I remember keeping full and rested was a real pain though.

Bustin' Out was our second Sims game. I used to always just cheat to get my needs up but I remember Story Mode being soo much fun. I never actually beat it though. My mother did beat it along with Sims 1 and Sims 2 story modes and she also managed to earn enough simoleons from a high paying job on 2 Pets to make a giant mansion on the biggest plot.

This game was so good. I loved it in my teen years.
The only console Sims game outside of Castaway I've ever enjoyed.

This is why I loved the older ps2 games over PC, having goals and gradually moving to bigger and better places was awesome.. maybe I'm just not creative enough for the PC versions because I get so bored but could play busting out for days

Absolutely love your channel. Thank you for bringing me back to the best times of my childhood. I'm 28 and I still play The Sims. Right now, I'm diving back into The Sims Castaway and The Sims 2 on ps2. I miss playing the Sims 2 on PC though. I gave all my games to my nephew years ago and now he play the Sims 4. Needless to say, I'm forever a fan of your content. 💙🩵💗🌟

Remember playing this as a kid, for some reason i always thought that you had to do all missions to move out to other house, i know you can, but i felt empty whenever i move out and i still had missions left to do, so i was just jumping from career to career all the time hahaha
