Back when i rented this game as a child, I remember leaving the game on while I slept and when I woke up the next morning… Nothing had happened, the sims simply took care of themselves and the animals were fine. There weren’t even pop ups that happened on screen to pause or disrupt the game, I slept a full 6-8 hours and the sims were just living their lives. It was like having a little ant colony, but the sims and their pets.
Okay literally! I loved this game because of that. I loved coming to see tiny neutral/ positive updates and maybe puppy puddles or dirty dishes but nothing went wrong if i fell asleep with it going still and at 10 years old i did it a lot haha
an expensive ant colony XD wonder if your parents liked the idea of you leaving your electronics on for that long for literary nothing but wasting money XD
It’s so whack how Sims 2 Pets was SO DIFFERENT on different consoles. I had it on DS and PS2. DS was completely different and was based on being a vet (if I’m remembering correctly). PS2 was very similar but… better than the Wii? I remember it very fondly and the UI was soooo different.
Ugh i wish it was free roam for the sims 2 DS... Like i hate when you're obligated to do things. Idk if it's just me but i wanna do what i want. But I Know it wasn't really possible since of the hardware for the DS. But still.
all Nintendo games were inferiour due to the system itself being garbage and due to controls it was night and day in comparison too, maybe seemed similar but it wasnt every time I see people now show footage from Nintendo consoles cant help but cringe and stop watching ... there is a trend of people showing the cases of PS2 games yet the gameplay is from Nintendo crap ... hate it all these youtubers and streamers brag about their setups yet somehow they fail to run a PS2 emulator ... how hard is to simply run a game on PS2 and run it through a capture device, but nope not even that tiniest effort was done ...
This was my first ever Sims game except I played it on the DS. I don’t even care that you called it the worst sims game because it has so much nostalgia for me. I remember not knowing how to do this own treatment on a dog (there was a vet career in this version ig) and I literally couldn’t figure it out so I just never played it again. Reminds me of the sims 4 lowkey
This was my first ever sims game. The thing is I didn't know english at the time, and the games was fully in english so I know there were so many things I didn't explore
I played it in spanish because it was the closest thing to portuguese i could find... oh it was a mess, i still remember the first kitchen fire along with the social services visit - i was SHOCKED and immediately turned the ps2 off 😅
I was obsessed with this game on the PS2 as a kid, it was my first ever Sims game and I spent hours on it! It's crazy looking back at this and feeling a mix of nostalgia and surprise at how basic looking it was. The pet creation was absolutely top tier, I used to love all the outfits! 😍
I loved it on ps2 especially since you could actually run around with the joystick and even do actual first person unlike that Sims 4 “first person” EA tried to pull 🙄
i hope you play the sims pets for ds in this series!! its sooo different from this one, and i absolutely loved it as a kid. it cashed in on some nintendogs elements and you get to run a veterinary office, so it was more like a management sim. Love watching these liss keep them coming ❤
The Sims 2 Pets was my first Sims game all the way back on the PS2 and seeing and hearing this slander makes me so sad because I LOVED that game growing up! Unlocking Hilary Duff, the pet square, the music, the pretty lake town... I always wished I lived in Whiskerton ♡
I played ALOT of sims 2 pets on wii. It was the first sims game i played on my own without any help lol (i watched my brother play bustin out before this) and i remember making the classic big box house and i thought all of the lights didnt give off enough light except for the fish light so i covered all of my walls in fish lights and my brother teased me for a long time after that. Good childhood memories.
Sims 2 was my era. I played it on GameCube and my friend at the time and I would play for hooooouuuurrrsss whenever we had sleepovers. We were dedicated and would make up random scenarios that we would act out. This is bringing me back.
the craziest thing is that when I was a child this game felt huge and full of things to do (ps2 version don't know if it is that much different) It was my starting in the series, after that I got a laptop and played Sims 2 pc version and I remember being mind blown by the REAL sims experience.
Oh 😢❤ , one of my favourite .. back in 2009 , beautiful memories , and i still play the old sims games from time to time , especially Sims 2 castaway .
You should play Petz Dogz 2 for one of these retrospectives! My grandma bought it for me years ago when I asked for Nintendogs for Christmas, and I played through the entire starting area before realizing I wasn't going to get to the part where I just pet and play with the dogs. It has such a fever dream of a plot and a weirdly elaborate fishing minigame.
This is the sims game I got hooked on, and the only reason I was allowed to play it was because of how clean it was. This was the first game I got hooked on. Seems silly now, but when it was all you had, you learned to love it.
My very first Sims game was the Sims 2 Pets on PS2 followed by the Sims 2 on PS2 followed by the Sims 3 Pets on PS3 followed by the Sims 3 base game on PC. This video brought back memoriessss to the point that I'm now considering buying a used PS2 and looking for the CD. I now own all the Sims 2, 3 and 4 packs on PC and I get so overwhelmed and started losing interest a bit. Back then when I only had one pack I literally was losing sleep in the summer break because I was sneaking out of bed to the living room, playing all night, heading back to bed before my mum wakes up and then playing the game again before and after my piano lesson and/or hockey and swim practice. I never got bored of the sims back then. Edit: I also remember somewhere in the middle I was playing Sims on an IPod touch. I don't own any Apple products anymore so I don't know if it's still available on the App store. If it is, would you mind also making a playthrough/review of it?
I wanted this game more than anything as a kid. Finally got it on Wii (used) and it literally just didn’t start. I was so heartbroken but then I got sims castaway on Wii and it was so fun
I remember my mom getting me Sims 2 Pets for my ps2 and I was severely disappointed XD. I had wanted it for the computer and I remember saying that but like all parents when they try to buy games: "The man at the store said it's the same thing!"
I remember I used to own The Sims 2 Pets for the Wii and I still remember that sims in The Sims 2 Pets (Wii) absolutely cannot die and same thing with pets.
i played the hell out of this on gamecube! i was super sad it didn't have a story mode, it was my favorite part of the sims 2 for gamecube as well, but i still had a lot of fun with this game and really liked that there was a place you could visit and you weren't stuck to your home lot :) i wish that everything from the sims 2 on gamecube had carried over to this game, it definitely would have made the game feel fuller and stand out more
I had the sims 2 and the sims 2 pets on my GameCube when I was a kid and it's way better with the gamecube controllers. Also those two games are absolutely EVERYTHING to me! 😭 ❤ It was so much fun. I didn't have a PC so game cube was my console! Also, I wish they can make it where you can have the option to "free run" with your sims. I miss running around wherever I wanted to go with my character and it's sad that we can't do that now in Sims 4 or in sims 2 on PC with like a PC controller 😢.
the ps2 version was my first ever sims game, i played it everyday! sims 2 (PC, but also in general) will always be the best in the series, no doubt about it. sims 4 could never lol. the things they included in one EP back then would be at least 4 separate packs now.
I played this on Gamecube which could be played on Wii which is what i ended up doing when my Gamecube stopped working with our new TV lol. I also forgot I had Castaways for the Wii and I never was able to get thru the game because it was difficult for me at 9 ☹️ God do I miss these games!! I don't want to emulate them i want them originally again, but it probably won't be the same even then. Oh well 💔❤️
This was the first ever Sims game I got my hands on, and despite its lack of content and limitations, it was a gold mine of hours upon hours of roleplaying. I was enchanted with this game. I distinctly remember building a backyard breeding empire where I would continously breed my pets and sell their babies to the pet store on the park. It was the easiest and relatively fastest way to get money without cheats. XD
I could have sworn there was a DS version and you could be a vet. It was my first and only sim game when I was like 10 and I had no idea what I was doing bc I would fail all of my clients visits bc I didn't understand how the game worked. I never played sims again bc I was so confused what the game wanted me to do bc all my clients HATED me bc I would just wash their pet and give them a treat and be like "hes all fixed" when they still had ringworm or sumn
There was one, bc I have it lol I remember you could teach the pets to do a really funny dance trick that would play over the top music. You could cook too and I remember burning the food super bad each time haha
This was my first sims I ever had but I had it on the GameCube and there was definitely more options in that but I remember u could woohoo but no babies 🤷🏽♀️
This is the version i had on the PS2 as a kid! It was the version of the game that got me hooked on the Sims! It might be mediocre in comparison to the PC games, but this game offered hours of entertainment for 7-year-old me and itll always have a very special place in my heart :)
I had this game but for ps2. I only ever got to play the sims 2 and sims 2 pets on console so when I was young I didn't know there was a big difference between console and pc, so I have alot of nostalgia for it, despite it not being *that* great of a game
26:45 sims 3 for the wii was my first ever sims game!! i remembered so vividly the town you lived in. i would always make my entire family and struggled between placing my sister and i as children or as teens. i never got really far tho LOL
Damn this has awoken some deep memories! I had this game on the PS2 so it was practically the same except the controls were probably easier and I loved it so much 😅 I also used those puppy trousers in every save I’m pretty sure haha
i had this on my wii because i didnt have a home computer at my moms house!!! after being spoiled on my dad's computer with the sims 2, i somehow didnt feel like i was missing out while playing the sims 2 pets on the wii. so nostalgic
I can imagine my kid self spending HOURS on this thing! I never had a Sims game as a kid, but I was a hardcore backseat-gamer when my friends would play it when I visited
I remember getting this on the PS2 back in the day, and being very disappointed about how much of a step backwards it was from the console version of The Sims 2. At the time I figured they removed the story mode and a bunch of other content to fit the pets content onto the disc. And I also figured that the reason they removed the multiplayer was because of the hardware limitations making it impossible to have splitscreen and pets on at the same time. Nowadays though, I know that there was plenty of space left on that disc and the PS2 could definitely have continued to handle splitscreen with the inclusion of pets. So yeah, you've pretty much hit the nail right on the head when you called it a neutered version of The Sims 2 to appeal to an even younger audience. I never realized it at the time though. :(
To be fair of you prefered storymode and didn't own a pc to play Sims 2 on this is a step up from the original game Sims 2 on console because of the days of the week. I'm grateful for later on getting a pc and getting to experience Sims 2 on Pc. I play sims 4 on my channel now and do content for it and I like it but Sims 2 has a special place in my heart. You'll probably like Sims 4 strangerville its an Ep but acts as if it's a spin off in the main game.
I had TS3 pets on Xbox 360. Even though it was slightly more limited, it filled my need for the sims back during a time when our family PC was nowhere near strong enough to run the sims 3 lol.
I had sims 2 pets on DS! I remember it being very odd. I think you're a vet tech and I couldn't figure out how to play it as a kid lol. I just wanted to play the sims but my parents thought the PC sims was to adult for me so they just made me play the spin offs lol. I later found out It was just actually because I would get sucked into the game and hog the laptop and my mom would get irritated. Sims Pets and Sims 2 on playstation are so nostalgic to me because of it tho and the weird alien story mode on DS.
Your videos are delightful to watch, and very comfy. TS2 on Xbox was the first Sims I ever played, so I thought the games were always a Third Person control scheme, and I was super surprised when I found out that was not the case at all lol I actually kinda liked it. Do you have a livestream channel? Would be nice to watch longer content from you
I allways enjoied watching/playing as my sims training their pets as well as teach them pet tricls. And loved the sooo cute cat and dog clothes too. 😍😍😍
Just discovered your channel today when doing Some game reminiscing that may turn into retro purchases. Loving your balance of joyful and informative playthings. So much love to Tiny’s memory as well 🤍 🐈⬛
this game was my all-time favourite wii game and my first sims game... looking back it was a huge pain in the ass to keep pets alive (i used to take my pets to the town center to feed them treats because they would refuse to eat at home ??) and sims notoriously hated doing what you asked them to, but i dumped hours into this game regardless
sims 2 pets was my childhood and I loved it a lottt but I remember sucking at it lol. yea watching this video it looks like it is not a very good game but like.... maybe when im on a nostalgia trip ill play it again and suffer myself. It is pretty cool to look back on sims 2 Wii and compare it to sims 4 which has soooo many options. dang. cool video I like it a lot
I suggest getting a classic controller they make games like this on the wii easier to play. It will also help when you get around to playing harvest moon.
This video brought back a lot of good memories! Although I played the PS2 version, which is quite similar to the Wii version from what I see. One thing I noticed is that Cutie seems to have a pretty hard time, her needs were red throughout the video. I remember not playing with small breed dogs because they seemed to be unable to be happy, in fact I played with the tutorial family for quite a while and the dog seemed to be able to fill his needs. Maybe it's a problem with the game code 🤔
I’ve played many of the sims console games (TS1, Bustin Out, Urbz, TS2, TS2 DS, Castaway, TS2 Pets, TS3 pets) but TS2 Pets (PS2) was by far the worst. I’m sure people will disagree, and if you enjoyed it that’s great… I just found it empty and pointless to play. It kinda feels like there is no goal or reward for playing and while it’s focused on pets, even that felt lacklustre. Even though I felt like Castaway (PS2) and TS2 on DS were a little rocky, they at least had their merits, quirks and rewards that made them fun to play at least until the end of their stories. Pets just had nothing. You can’t even have romances the same as previous games. Idk to me it felt like a shallow cash grab.
Thank you for educating us on the console versions of the sims games from the other generations! As someone who grew up on playing the Sims 3 on consoles (both the Wii and the Xbox 360) and as someone who currently plays the sims 4 on console, it is amazing to see how the Sims 2 is and how different it can be from the PC version of the game! I'm still a relatively new subscriber but I love all of your videos! 🫶 Keep up the amazing work! Personally I think it could be cool to hear how you feel about the Sims 3 on console, if you are planning on eventually playing.
Oh the hours i spent playing this game, i had this on wii and my first sims game was apartment pets or something where your a vet.. the perfume mini game broke my first dsi's L and R buttons! I thought the fire danger rating in pets 2 for the wii was a meter and when it was full you got a second storey and build mode, i spent so long tryna fill it up in vain wanting a second storey! I actually loved this games first person dirrext control mode i didnt use it often but it worked good for me when i did and i loved just the camera following round pets watching their day to day lifes! I'd always play on fishbone island coz it was easy to fence.. and island! I also had sims castaway for the ds.. really started out with the kinda odd ones, then eventually got sims 3 for xbox and sims 4 for pc.. after all the frustrations with limits in previus games i actually really like sims 4 but ive always been most into making pretty houses and people then just imagining my own lore and back storeys for them i do the same pkaying minecraft. Omg wait core memory i had the orignal sims on my first phone this samsung flip phone i swear that was a thing!?
I was very young when I discovered Sims through friends Sims 2 for the PC I think and I was baffled and we had a pc and I begged my parents to gift Sims 2 to me but we not always had much money and so it sometimes took even a year until I got a game and then they got me Sims 2 pets for the GameCube and.. Oh boy.. I was still grateful and I really tried to be but at the end... There is literally no really gameplay more then a hour until It gets... Boring cuz literally nothing really can happen... I remembered at a point I was Literally h y p e d everytime my trash bin was full becuse it would mean I could take it out and literally so something it was... I don't even know how to describe the desperation on trying to find new ""goals" "" I could set for my self in order to play the game or to find anything fun etc
Sims 2 pets on DS was my first spinoff sims game, and it was insane how different it was from normal sims. Its basically a vet sim and I had notes for it I kept with my DS. I don't even think its a bad game its just so different from what I was expecting.
I will say this game was much better and a lot more fun on the Nintendo DS as stated by the rest of the comments. And it was really great for its time. ♥️ does make me feel so old though because I was a part of the OG crew that experienced all the trailers and all the original excitement and it has definitely been a long time since I’ve played this.😢
I spent hours playing this on the PS2 with my friend. We’d taken forever building the most intricate house possible and before we could save, she accidentally kicked the Playstations power button and we lost the whole thing and refused to play it again lol
The Sims 2 and Sims 2 Pets were my first Sims games and I had both for PS2! I wasn’t expecting the Wii version to be identical (aside from the PS2 having better controls)
This was my first ever Sims game! I played it on the GameCube and played it for hours on end. I remember the way I made money was making a Sim paint for hours on speed mode 😂
Now that you mention it at the end of the video. I now know why I was allowed to have sims 2 pets on the PS2 but no sims on the PC like I constantly begged for….
PLEASE do sims 3 ps4 mode vs pc mode, on pc with each pack separately as a video especially expansion packs to see all their glory one by one, just an idea but id love to see that
I played it on the game cube and the pets are rather anoying as you dont know what they want, cant control them, and they always hate you and starve or run away. You try to feed them, but they wont eat. Also there was a bug where my pet was permanently stuck on the bed, so the pet is suffering.

Me too! I still miss playing this game on PS2. So many good memories.
Yessss! I was just thinking about that on the DS. It was solely taken care of pets coming in and you decorated your doctors office.

@@minmogrovingstrongandhealthy As far as I can remember, Sims 2 Pets on GameCube (and the Wii version as well) ran a lot better than the PS2 version.
Rest in Peace Tiny, you cute little unit. Sorry for your loss liss.
I have a nickname for cute units. I call them cunits haha 🌈

I played it on my brother's playstation portable lol
this was also the first one i played and i'll love it forever and always 🥹❤️
The DS version is a completely different game though lol. It even had a different developer.
I used to just fight the people who would come to my house 😭😭😭 cause I didn’t know how to play
I think my cousin gave me the ds version ans i really loved it but taking care of my sim was so hard, I just remeber making a ton of pizza

You could cook too and I remember burning the food super bad each time haha
the sims 3 for the DS however was [CHEFS KISS]
Sims 2 Pets for ps2 was the first sims game I ever played. I loved the crazy cat lady!
Damn this has awoken some deep memories! I had this game on the PS2 so it was practically the same except the controls were probably easier and I loved it so much 😅 I also used those puppy trousers in every save I’m pretty sure haha
Have you played Sim Animals? It was a Wii game and I remember not understanding how to play it as a kid I’d be intrigued to see how it’s aged
Not gonna lie, as a kid I did enjoy this game 😂
i had this on my wii because i didnt have a home computer at my moms house!!! after being spoiled on my dad's computer with the sims 2, i somehow didnt feel like i was missing out while playing the sims 2 pets on the wii. so nostalgic
Tiny reminds me of my Shadow who also passed this year....RIP Tiny. Sorry about your loss. I know how you feel.
I can imagine my kid self spending HOURS on this thing! I never had a Sims game as a kid, but I was a hardcore backseat-gamer when my friends would play it when I visited
also, about 17:56 and the dog peeing problem: you can just buy a bush for them to use.
Great video. I find it cool how you take your time to get through the game, even if it's not the best experience. Im looking forward to the next video
This and the Sims 3 on Wii / DS were my first sims games! So nostalgic!
i had this game, but for the ps2 - it was also very empty compared to the other sims console port
This was my first Sims game. I have huge fond memeories for it even though it sucks, lol.
NOOOO i played this on ps2 and it was my childhood 😭😭😭 i loved this game sm!!!! it's so nostalgic watching this 😭😭🩷
I had sims 2 pets on DS!
I had this on NDS and PS2. But on NDS it was more a vet game.
I played Sims 2 pets on ps2 like religiously as a young man after school 😊.
This video was very nostalgic
I loved this game as a kid but looking back at it, it's not great 😅
Just discovered your channel today when doing Some game reminiscing that may turn into retro purchases. Loving your balance of joyful and informative playthings. So much love to Tiny’s memory as well 🤍 🐈⬛
this game was my all-time favourite wii game and my first sims game... looking back it was a huge pain in the ass to keep pets alive (i used to take my pets to the town center to feed them treats because they would refuse to eat at home ??) and sims notoriously hated doing what you asked them to, but i dumped hours into this game regardless
my first sims game on GameCube. so limiting and weird but still fun for what it was
sims 2 pets was my childhood and I loved it a lottt but I remember sucking at it lol. yea watching this video it looks like it is not a very good game but like.... maybe when im on a nostalgia trip ill play it again and suffer myself.
I don't even know how to describe the desperation on trying to find new ""goals" "" I could set for my self in order to play the game or to find anything fun etc
rest in peace to Tiny, he seemed like a cool little dude
Sims 2 pets on DS was my first spinoff sims game, and it was insane how different it was from normal sims. Its basically a vet sim and I had notes for it I kept with my DS. I don't even think its a bad game its just so different from what I was expecting.
I will say this game was much better and a lot more fun on the Nintendo DS as stated by the rest of the comments. And it was really great for its time. ♥️ does make me feel so old though because I was a part of the OG crew that experienced all the trailers and all the original excitement and it has definitely been a long time since I’ve played this.😢
11:55 this feature of looking at a pets needs r only in sims 2
I spent hours playing this on the PS2 with my friend. We’d taken forever building the most intricate house possible and before we could save, she accidentally kicked the Playstations power button and we lost the whole thing and refused to play it again lol
The Sims 2 and Sims 2 Pets were my first Sims games and I had both for PS2! I wasn’t expecting the Wii version to be identical (aside from the PS2 having better controls)
This was my first ever Sims game! I played it on the GameCube and played it for hours on end. I remember the way I made money was making a Sim paint for hours on speed mode 😂
I played it on ps2 and it was actually fun, all the Wii ports of any games kinda sucks
It would be cool if you played The Sims Medieval. I've been really enjoying this series so far.
I had sims 2 pets on Wii and GC and I loved it lol 😭
Lol, the animations always make me laugh 😂
love your videos! please play the sims 2 pets for the DS its totally different and was one of my favourite games growing up
The passed our pets has me cracking up!! lol
Now that you mention it at the end of the video. I now know why I was allowed to have sims 2 pets on the PS2 but no sims on the PC like I constantly begged for….
I'd love to see you try the Sims 2 Pets on handheld, it was like a vet game! (Ik you dont read comments often but I figured I'd try lol)
My first ever sims game I ever got - I played it on ps2 though - so many good memories!!
I had the og sims as well as sims 2 pets on gamecube, didn't even realize that there was a wii version lol
PLEASE do sims 3 ps4 mode vs pc mode, on pc with each pack separately as a video especially expansion packs to see all their glory one by one, just an idea but id love to see that
Nostalgia hit me like Tyson with this... Had awesome memories with my ex gf playing a lot of this ...
I played it on the game cube and the pets are rather anoying as you dont know what they want, cant control them, and they always hate you and starve or run away. You try to feed them, but they wont eat. Also there was a bug where my pet was permanently stuck on the bed, so the pet is suffering.
It’s weird cuz I had Sims 2 and Sims pets on Ds and they both were so different to these games
This game gave me intense motion sickness as a kid 😂
I had this game on the Game Cube and I loved it their.
The controls were definitely better their than on the wii
Would recommend trying out The Dog Island if you're put off by this!
thsi game was part of my Childhood! but I was frustrated that the Map is so small.
Omg I died at the dog customization lol
when I got the game for ps 2 I was very excited, it SHOULD have been my first real sims experience, BUT the store disk always froze before CAS.
Tiny looks like a good void, RIP
I grew up with this game I remember I got this game when I was like 7 and my parents got this game for when I got a tooth removed
Sims 2 pets on the ds tho will always have a place in my heart ❤😂 I still have it & my ds
I loved moving Buck out of his house. I loved his place honestly.
Sims 2 for PSP was actually on another level. IT WAS WILD. You should really check it out. With emulator you can really like this for sure😂
Been loving the more frequent uploads babe xx keep us fed mum
