Finishing The Work Bench Drawers

- It's been a long time coming, but the Work Bench Drawers are finally finished!!
I spent a lot of time measuring, checking, thinking, re-measuring, cutting, leveling, adjusting but finally the drawers on the bench are finished.
I installed full extension, soft close drawer sliders on the 3 drawers and I have to say, they are pretty sweet!!
I made the drawer fronts from old dresser drawers and they worked out just fine I'd say.
It was kind of fun setting up to mount the drawers in the sliders and then get all the shop made drawer pulls installed so they would be straight and lined up. But it all worked out in the end.
Now do I paint them or just leave them 'au naturel'. I think they really should be painted, but I don't like to paint so I'm not too sure how this will end up!! But for now at least, the work bench is finished!!!

Well looking after Janet is certainly the top priority and it's a good thing thing too because it sure does eat up a day. Her hip is doing great I'd say, but the other health issues are causing us grief. Love ya!!

Hope Janet continues to improve. It’s a long process. Sara is about to hit the 6 month mark since her knee surgery and she is doing well. Time is the great healer. Very clever setup to finish the draws. They look great!

@@GrampiesWorkshop He Mike. Yup, they are great. The will give the bench some mass. Those and the shelf will hold a lot of dead weight. The heavier the beter for pounding on.
Good job, Yogi! You ARE smarter than the average bear. That looks really nice and the drawer fronts went on very accurately. I always use a ledger board too when I can to to get things level. The sled on your saw is a really handy feature to keep count of all your fingers. The custom-made jigs for setting the drawer height on the sliders was work well worth doing. Best wishes to you both. This was my first try and putting in drawers with these kinds of sliders and after the fight I had with the vertical drawers, I wanted to try and get every thing set up right and in place with jigs to make sure the drawers worked good and closed tight. I have done lots of projects and everything looks good on them except for that one spot where the hammer hit it wrong, or the handle it crooked or the wood split, and it eats my lunch every time I look at it. You do lovely work. I appreciate that you did this with basic tools and recycled wood from and old piece. We tore out our 60 year old kitchen and salvaged what we could. I have used a lot of pieces for shelves inside of cabinets and even patched a few areas of subfloor with the old 3/4 plywood.

They're powerful for sure!! You know I try not to throw away anything that looks like it could be useful!! LOL The old piece of masonite I had for the drawer bottoms was around for over 60 years!! I used 'new' plywood for the drawer boxes only because I didn't have anything else. I hope you can drop back to the channel again soon. Take 'er easy!!
I added dividers and racks for the various tools and gismos that inhabit the average workshop drawer.
Of course that was many years ago and they have been remodeled multiple times. Soon I will be taking them out of the basement and up to the Annex. 😎
