Some of the comments here are unfairly critical. This is good well shared presentation that shows you the basics of "How To Do It!" To inspire you to go and do it yourself. For that my hat is off. Keep up the good work.
Easy and Simple! Thank you for making this video! Your tips and tricks made this the best "add a drawer to your workbench the best I've seen. No pocket jig or special tools promoted BS.
Excellent demonstration! I am a retired teacher and yes, you nailed it Sir!!! Clear and no nonsense. I would like to point out to others in case his intent was lost on you, the concept is what he is trying to convey here. Yes, the mount plate is particle board rather than plywood, and yes, with enough weight in the drawer, the side panels would tear the particle board out and all will go humpty-dumpty. He never said a thing about the strength or aesthetics. The beauty of this explanation is that he is focusing only on the details needed to dimension and install "a drawer". Not a custom made oak or cherry drawer in the "blah blah blah" 18th century "blah blah blah" style, rather..."need a damn drawer and want it to fit and open? Follow these steps". Cheers and thanks for the vid!
This is brilliant. We bought a house that has a workbench with side pieces already in place. So "all" we need to do is build a drawer and add slides. Your instructions are the missing piece. Thank you!
I've thinking of different ways to secure it to the frame with 2x3's but it seemed it would eat up more space on the sides outside the drawer itself. Never even thought about attaching it to the bench top. Love it. Thanks
This is a great video, with simple narration, for adding a drawer to workbench. Thanks for sharing. I was looking for an idea like this, and i am so happy that i found this video.
WOW!!!! Great stuff....you make it simple and very interesting. I'll have multiple drawers under my workbench soon enough. Thanks for the help. "You're the man"!!! Chuck.
Yes I like it. I have just finished a Krek design bench, and very good and solid it is to; But I wondered how to fit a simply made drawer. This is my answer, Thankyou for your video.Best regards from across the "Pond"
I like this simple yet affective, a lot of ppl on here complicated things like this, not to say it's not all helpful but this is wat i was looking for.
What was the size plywood you used for your workbench drawer? It looked like 1" plywood to me. Great video. I am building two work benches for my daughters new home and am going to add drawers so this is a big help.
If you mean the drawer box, just use the paneling on the bottom to square it up. No need to get fancy, just glue and nail it to the bottom, the drawer guide will cover the bottom edge anyway.
Just what I needed for my shop! Now i'll have drawers everywhere! Thanks, and by the way dontcha just love the Milwaukee impact drill? Its fast and powerful and the batteries last forever!
That is great! I will have to try that sometime. I know that making a box can be harder then it looks to come out square. I usually buy the cheaper cut of wood so not always straight. lol Your table saw is so quiet.
Great video! Question: I want to make a long drawer for my work table. 50 plus inches or so. Will the standard two brackets for each side of the drawer box be enough support? Or will i have to add something additional to support it in the middle somehow??
I've been trying to figure out how to do this without having to put side walls all the way down under my WB. Never once thought of hanging it off the bottom of the top like that. Duh! So, thank you!
Looks exactly the same as I bought from a major chain in Australia. Prestige brand made in China, various lengths up to 600 mm. www.bunnings.com.au/prestige-550mm-white-self-closing-drawer-slides-2-pack_p4020385 They may be branded differently in the USA. The rating for all these glides is 25 kg (about 55 lbs) each. That makes the maximum load to be 110 lbs for the whole draw. I doubt I would exceed 50 lbs and more likely the contents will be about 20 lbs. For a workshop it is important to have robust draws that will take plenty of weight and a bit of rough treatment. The flimsy designs in kitchen and bedroom drawers won't cut it.
Thanks for your comments, no need to make the drawer box fancy, just make the 4 sides and cut a piece of paneling or plywood to cover the bottom all the way across.
Looks too easy! I am building a wine maker's bench which will be 60" wide. With the drawer being about 48" wide, I'd assume you would put a brace or strapping under the drawer as mentioned by EQTRax below. Thanks for this great video. Well done.
I have been kicking around rebuilding my work bench top to bottom to add drawers. With this idea I don't need to. Thanks for this and if it is alright with you I would like to add you're video and channel link to my youtube channel. Thanks and I hit the like and subscribed.
I was just going to comment on the same thing. 3 minutes or less??? No way!!! The other thing that caught my attention was the fact he never used any clamps or spirit level. The drawer he made would not be plumb! And finally, why not glue the darned thing also? Beats me.
Classy Casey, wood critic here. Your design would only be improved if you had used a milk crate. Sorry, but I would not call you to come to my shop and install drawers. It's obvious that you drink from a bottle and me a glass.

Love the simplicity of the design. I believe the stick wedge to hold up the drawer frame is a great tip. Thanks for sharing.

That was exactly what I was looking for. Simple and effective. Good job.
Thanx for this vid. I've been scratching my head for a couple weeks trying to figure out how to add a couple drawers to my 2x4 workbench.
Just what I was looking for. Helped get drawers without being over engineered.
This is a great video, with simple narration, for adding a drawer to workbench. Thanks for sharing. I was looking for an idea like this, and i am so happy that i found this video.
Thanks for this! You are right, all my buddies and I have the 2x4 and plywood workbenches. This will help me a great deal.
Love it. Easy enough for a beginner without having to buy a lot more tools!
Thanks for a straight forward method! Excellent video

thumbs up in Nov 2020. Great quick and dirty drawer for a workbench.
good no nonsense way to build an easy fit drawer, thanks

Great video, thanks for simplifying build, will definitely try on a cabinet that could use some drawers. Thanks
Brilliant! Thank you. This is so simple and so helpful.

3/4" ply was used. 5/8 or 1/2" would have worked too.
Fun watching you work, and I learned some things too.
This is just what I’ve been looking for! Tks
If you mean the drawer box, just use the paneling on the bottom to square it up. No need to get fancy, just glue and nail it to the bottom, the drawer guide will cover the bottom edge anyway.
Thank You for this simple appoach to a common problem. I hope you make a video on making the drawer. Thank You.
Just what I needed for my shop! Now i'll have drawers everywhere! Thanks, and by the way dontcha just love the Milwaukee impact drill? Its fast and powerful and the batteries last forever!
Your the man! Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
What a great idea just what I was looking for. Thanks, I'm definitely going to give it a go.

Fantastic tutorial and just what I was looking for! Thanks!
Great Video, I learn something everyday. I will be making some Draws tomorrow.
What slides do you recommend?? There seems to be a lot of complaints...
When you make a drawer, if you can cut the bottom square. just line the side up to that when you attach it.
awesome....just what i wanted and a great presentation.
thanks.

Good video. Well explained. Appreciate it.
YOu are awesome! Great vid, first time I will make one ever in my life!! For my reloading bench! Yesssss!
Thanks for your kind words.
That impact driver seems to run very fast... though it does have a veri speed trigger. No one sponsors me... but I will entertain all offers :)
This is just the type a drawer I want to make under my bench.
What Drawer Glides did you use? What weight rating?

Isn't that chipboard @4:33? Wouldn't have nailed into that, the whole drawer and contents are hanging off it.
How did u make the drawer itself
Great video
Very helpfull... thanks..
As you can see, adding drawers to a workbench is not so hard.
Glad that might be a help.
sometimes easier to just do it than talk about it isn't it. I think after
watching I could get it first time and not need to re-watch. good vid.
Thanks it helps!!
Did my first drawer yesterday. Thanks to you and your video , it turned out perfect. Thankyou!!!
Thank you!
Thanks, great idea
Boom!! no messing
Nice job mister soul 99…
I would like to break down all videos into a condensed format, but somethings require a bit more detail. Thanks for your comments.
I have been kicking around rebuilding my work bench top to bottom to add drawers. With this idea I don't need to. Thanks for this and if it is alright with you I would like to add you're video and channel link to my youtube channel. Thanks and I hit the like and subscribed.
Glad my idea helped, feel free to post it.
Thank you.
Yeah, pick up a pair of drawer guides and knock that little job out.
Yeah I have had good service from that impact driver.
Thank you :-)
BRo, I think you need to put that glass down.
"3 minutes or less?" Try 8:46
JK Great vid

sweet!
Good video. I think you may have ran over your "3 minutes, or less" statement by a few seconds though. Nice job.
Problem is I don't have the tools or materials to make any of that. I guess I'll just use cardboard.
That was fun ! Tomorrow I will add drawers to my scale modeling work bench. Thanks !

This is a joke right ??
Step 3...4 Whatever LOL
Woodglut is full of amazing tips. It helped me a lot.
On the Stodoys site you can find many plans for this type of thing.
the sound is not good I am quite disappointed
