Well done on passing! It is a struggle when dealing with so many conditions that cause exhaustion and other symptoms. Glad you managed to get a diagnosis. I have hypothyroidism and b12 absorption problems and folate deficiency, the exhaustion was so bad and I had tremors in legas and couldn't stand or walk properly. I am beginning to fell an improvement but it is slow .
You are so brave to share your experience, my heart goes out to you, once you get referred it should be sorted out quickly, as you will be under the care of a Dr who specialises in this condition, please hang in there, things will get better x
I was diagnosed with quite a severe B12 deficiency almost 3 years ago, I was put on B12 injections too and then they put me on oral B12 supplements over the COVID pandemic - but I no longer take them anymore. I was recently diagnosed with a folate deficiency and now I am taking folic acid daily. However, my doctors are always testing my thyroid every time and they check it annually, I think they're keeping an eye on it but they don't want to worry me about it. I'm starting to think I am early stage or mild hypothyroidism, especially since thyroid problems are in my family. My brother has hypothyroidism and my mum actually had thyroid problems and ended up with a goitre which had to be removed by keyhole surgery. I am super worried that I have hypothyroidism because I have a lot of the same issues and symptoms you described and my doctors are just not picking it up because my levels are not seriously bad atm. The B12 and folic acid haven't helped much, I still get the symptoms + chronic fatigue, chest pains, tingles, cold hands/feet, muscle pains and other unexplained problems. How are you coping now with your thyroid?
I'm sorry to hear you are struggling, it can be quite the fight with the doctors. It's been 3 years since my diagnosis with hypo and I get folic acid deficient once a year. I still struggle with bad fatigue, brain fog, anxiety and slight depression. It's a life long condition so I wasn't expecting to feel 'normal' again, but I am doing alot better now than I was prior to all my treatment in 2019 and that's what helps me 💗
@@ItsTheSmallThings I’m wondering if I have any thyroid or hormonal issues because I’ve been suffering from bad hot flashes. This all came after being diagnosed with b12 deficiency. I never had my folate checked though. I took b12 shots for about 6 months tingling and brain fog have subsided. I do still get cold feet though. My feet will be so cold but my body hot. Weirdest thing. I have a dr appt coming up to check out everything else.
Thanks for sharing this. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 36. Who knows how long I have actually had the issue. They placed me on 25mcg levothyroxine then did labs and bumped me to 50mcg. It is making me sick. The anxiety and the brain fog is unreal. I struggle to concentrate while at work. I’ve been looking into diets and foods that could possibly help me. As you said there isn’t much out there so it’s comforting to hear your story!
Hi Have you checked out nascent iodine or Luogols iodine? The thyroid needs iodine to operate properly. Also, folic acid is fine but many prefer Methyl Folate, it's a more natural ver of folate and is easier accepted by the body. Please look up how the thyroid functions and what it requires nutritionally to function optimally. I myself have similar issues and fully comprehend your struggles. Best wishes for improvement.
Do you remember how you felt after the B12 and B9 supplementation before the thyroid meds? Did you feel better? Did you start thyroid meds because of lab numbers only? Or were you still suffering from symptoms you were hoping to address with thyroid meds?
apologies for such a long wait on a reply. its been a few years but i kinda remember being slightly less tired but a lot of the symptoms were the same before the thyroid meds. I started thyroid meds because lab results said they were still to low and still had symptoms.
I have hypothyroidism be strong Manage it ,I once felt like you ,it will be ok ,I am living with it till this day ,i am now 58 years old mine is diabetes coupled with hypothyroidism (on 200 micros of altroxin)coupled with b12 deficiency, be strong
Thank you for your story! I experience low thyroid as well... but it's coming for my immune system. It's called hashimoto's if it's coming from your immune system.... Your levels can run high and low. I was being way over medicated it was horrible. Have your doctor take blood work to see if tou my have an autoimmune issue... the hospitals will not do the test. I hope you're doing much better and pray for you
Find a doctor who will prescribe you a natural form of thyroid medication ( Armour Thyroid ) . Not everyone can take a synthetic form such as levothyroxine .Unfortunately some doctors have trouble understanding this fact .
Hi I have hypothyroidism and the doctors told me that I will be on the tablets for the rest of my life as it’s a life long process with routine blood tests every 8 weeks, Iv just been diagnosed with low folate today as well
no but my dad does have IBS and I do struggle with some foods, unfortunately very difficult to get a doctors appointment these days even for my regular bloods check up 😥
The chart of normal levels of B12 is different from country to country. 200 - 300 is considered borderline in Canada but in Japan that would be considered too low because there the optimal level I think is from 550 to 1200. If you have symptoms you might want to talk to the doctor.
