Very detailed thank you for this. I am about to do a number of repairs on my 6.0 and the turbo is one of them. I will also be doing my fuel pump and housing, filters, and fuel injectors eventually. I found a 2003 F250 with 83000 miles on it in near mint condition last year. I purchased it for my junk removal business but put a bit of a hurting on it lol. Thanks again!
I have a 2005 F250 Super duty that I bought new. I was accelerating onto the interstate when my "wrench" warning light came on. I took it to the dealership for the diagnosis. They told me the turbo vanes were stuck closed. So decided to change the turbo myself. I am a mechanic with over thirty years experience, but very little turbo hands on. Thanks for the video. Thanks for the details and what to watch for.
Nice document bro like all the little pointers pros and cons looking for the other videos when I have questions way to keep it rolling with diesel power
I did this once in my buddys back yard on his truck. It was not fun. We didn't realize his turbo seized up because it was starving for oil and there were bigger problems and the turbo we installed eventually seized up again and the truck went bye bye
Good video on how to change turbo! But how. Do I know IF turbo is problem an not some sensor, pipe, obstruction? Afraid I will change turbo and not solve my low high rpm power loss! Starts well, no power, max speed 40mPH +-
Check for an exhaust restriction first. If it still has the factory cat they can come loose and actually spin around in the canister housing completely restricting exhaust flow.
@@darkirondiesel hi. I kept looking at good videos and was about convinced that Turbo was not shot! (No smoke from exhaust, started easily,, no high end power. Most pointer to hot side turbo connector sleeves split. Could not fine. Finally pulled air filter so I could see, saw light oil where cool side pipe connected at driver radiator , looked good but pushed my finger into pipe split at cooler bracket! Entire cool side pipe is black one piece plastic w Ford logo on! Hot side is metal w boots on both ends! Ok I cannot find a seller in Indy or in line who offers just the cool side pipe and boots & 4 clamps, some cheap red ones, metal I guess, but boots look like junk & I will through half of 2 pipe kit away! I do not wish to put a 1 piece plastic pipe from Ford back if I do not have too! Any location advise would be appreciated! Thought my finding the blown 1 piece pipe-boot attached might help others find similar problem!
Look for a 2003 Ford 6.0 CAC cold side. It's a Factory "upgrade" to the cold CAC pipe that tends to split or tear at the flex part. Best of all, the 03 pipe fits right in.
Got a question for you. I'm putting a new turbo on my 250 and I can't get one of the front bolt holes to line up. I can get the back and one front in. It's the right turbo for the year and the truck. After constant wiggling of turbo it seats and won't go any further down. My question is it alright to run the turbo with only two mounting bolts holding down.
Hey man what would you recommend I installed a wherli fab y bridge and stripped the bottom right thread thanks btw I deleted my truck today doing the exhaust tomorrow god willing
oof that sucks, hmmm, can you try to re-tap the hole? Maybe drill it out a bit and tap it for a bigger bolt but there isn't much room for a bigger bolt, plus you don't want to drill too deep and go right through the manifold...

Great videos! Very informative. Keep them coming. Post up some videos about some L5Ps, that’s what I have lol.

Do you have any videos of installing a 6 position tuner on an 03 6.0?
Good job,

Don't right and left angle needle nose depend on which hand you hold it with?
Thank you
What turbo did it get replaced by.,looking to swap mine.
oh yeah bigger turbo lift the heads nice and easy
I'll be replacing my stock turbo in my 2005 f350. Looking to get some more hp and still new to the whole turbo world. What would you recommend
Kc turbos
How much oil do I add to the new turbo?
Not much just some to get it a bit oily. Whatever you can get down there
Drain the coolant lol 😂
Why is your coolant green? You have the wrong coolant in your truck.

Hello I just swapped my turbo now there seems to be a loud squealing coming from the new turbo. Any suggestions of what it could be.
Did you figure out what the squealing noise was ? Dealing with the same problem. I already swapped out y pipe . Thanks

Tell me where that coolant drain is
It's on the bottom of the radiator, on the Driver's side. Just look for the white knob and drain. Be sure to tighten it by hand or it will break.
