    I'm so sorry this video is soooooo long! Feel free to skip the bits that aren't of interest to you or split your viewing into different days - in hindsight I should have split this into separate videos but I never anticipated it would be so long ha ha! (That said I do watch really long vlogs from other RUclipsrs so perhaps some of you wont mind!) Also I wanted to clarify that the Fine Knit Polo Neck is 70% Viscose not 95% as a mistakenly said in the video.
    P.S Please do not worry about my knitwear, I took it all off hangers and folded it after I finished filming!
    P.P.S Please ignore my crazy hair - I thought it looked of after drying but I perhaps should have taken a bit more care given I was turning on the camera lol

    Popping back to let you know I actually returned the black and white jumper - I totally loved it and was so classic - but after 30 days had passed and I hadn't worn it, I realised it probably wasn't going to deliver great cost per wear for me in the long run so decided to return it.

    I agree Kirsty, when we buy with purpose and intention and to suit our body shape we get more value out of the things we choose. It guarantees we purchase things we really like to use/wear, things that make us feel and look good and things that bring us joy. This equates to good value because aside of the monetary investment we are actually investing in ourselves. Holding on to the items that don’t fit or items we don’t like but can’t bring ourselves to part with because they were expensive can actually become toxic. It can lead to guilt or shame due to bad choices made or us never reaching that high standard ‘fantasy self’ goal x

    • @KirstyKirby
      @KirstyKirby  Год назад

      I'm so pleased you can relate. I really do try to think now about clothes in particular - Will I actually wear this? Would I still wear this next year or is it really trend led? How many times do I think I will wear this? Am I buying this for the life I have, or the one that's a bit of a fantasy? - that way as you say, you end up with items that bring value in multiple ways. I agree that holding on to things can be a bit bad for us really, I didn't quite realise how much until I looked back with the benefit of hindsight. Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi Kirsty, hope you are well. Your channel name changed! I really loved this chatty, longer length video. The struggle to lose weight doesn't get easier (I'm 47) so well done for losing your weight. I've always been large, but am finding that the fat distribution has changed and now sits mostly around my middle, but I'm cycling 10-11 miles a day now and feel so much fitter just from that. Because of health issues occurring around me, I'm just glad to be healthy and alive at this point in time! Hope you have a great week. 😁

    • @KirstyKirby
      @KirstyKirby  Год назад

      Hi Dazzle, yes I’m trying it on for size at the moment, I felt like I would like a bit of a divide between my professional life and my YT hobby if that makes any sense. I might change it again at some point, who knows lol.
      I agree, it’s definitely harder now than when I was in my twenties I think. I could just eat a few less biscuits then and it would fall off, now I have to be pretty consistent on a nutrition plan and be patient. I think everyone’s fat distribution does naturally change as we age and is why I think if I exercise for health and nothing changes then so be it, but if I can improve the aesthetics at the same time as the health benefits then that would be great. Your cycling routine sounds like great exercise!

I’d say I’m a mindful spender, but I definitely own more clothes than I ‘need’. In somewhat of a contrast, as I say in the video, I think refusing to buy clothing for years and years was a terrible mistake. I felt terrible about myself in clothes that didn’t fit my body or my lifestyle and I shrunk away from life. If I had my time again I would do the last decade over very very differently.

    I am sorry if my opinion is unpopular, but I don’t get it with all that “2020 stuff “…. Like really… I worked all the time, no lockdown for me, worked full time, got covid in september 2020, 3 awful weeks of my life, a lot of health issues after, lost 8 kilos, and got back to work after recovery… so no time for food and depression.. had to mobilize all small parts of strength I had… sorry if I sound inappropriate but I don’t get it “depression and eating” mode during pandemic, besides so many people lost their jobs and to eat a lot you should have money to buy food and many people even didn’t have that money for extra food….. and also I mean there is always someone needing your help and not time to be depressed, you have to be strong and mobilized to survive and help to survive those around you (again, sorry if I offend someone, just my opinion)

    • @KirstyKirby
      @KirstyKirby  Год назад +1

      You are entitled to your opinion even if I disagree with your take on it and I think those people in jobs that were considered ‘essential’ fared better with their mental health than others due to the social aspect. Most people in the U.K. didn’t lose jobs, they were paid with government funds to stay in their homes - something I’ll be paying for for the rest of my life whilst never having the benefit of. Reports have shown that lockdown’s here have had huge impacts on health and huge swathes of people drank much much more and studies show that almost half the U.K. population gained at least 7lbs in the initial lockdowns - the studies looking at weight gain in children in particular is shocking.
      I worked all the time, never saw anyone as the rules here were strict as was an area of high prevalence all throughout the period, the one hour we were allowed to leave home for exercise wasn’t appealing as I didn’t live near anyone I could walk with, nor a park I could walk to. My parents formed an allowed bubble with my grandma as no one else to care for her.
      I think if you are someone who has never struggled with disordered eating you probably won’t get it. I do find your comment offensive unfortunately, especially after being vulnerable enough to share this online with people. I did not expect such an unkind comment, I had a truly awful time, so bad I’m not willing to go into on the internet and I wont apologise for the mental impact of the decisions made by the U.K. government. Saying there’s no time for ‘depression and eating’ is a bit flippant really, and quite unfair to those people who suffer with genuine mental health issues.

      @@KirstyKirby thank you for your answer🤝I do not try to lower the value of mental problems but when you see real health problems of people who suffer and try to survive you just have no time for depression and for feeling sorry for yourself, that’s what I mean.. I am 41 and have real health issues due to covid (got it twice 1st time in 2020 wuhan version, and 2nd time in March 2022 omicron, I was vaccinated in 2021 though) and a lot of people have real problems now, like cardiac and brain issues, financial issues, many are on a survival mode now (with all that’s going on in the world).. I am trying to say that one must be strong and don’t fall into self digging and depression🫤 I am sorry you suffered during lockdown, but I am trying to tell about “real world” problems

      @JuliaS I don’t need education on health issues for goodness sake, I’ve worked within primary and secondary care settings in multiple therapy areas for thirteen years. You say you don’t want to lower the value of mental health issues - yet that’s exactly what you are saying! That it’s not a ‘real’ problem like the clinical diagnoses that fit with what is acceptable to you. I’m sure several incredibly talented health care professionals in mental health would disagree with you suggesting it’s not real.
      Are you suggesting my issues weren’t ‘real’? I’m absolutely flabbergasted you are so rude.
      Just because you don’t experience something or can’t relate to it doesn’t mean it’s ok to be so dismissive or that others are weak. I had Covid unvaccinated and was mildly unwell for about 36 hours. Most of the time whilst positive, I continued working from home. I didn’t experience anything remotely like you did, nor do I have any lingering issues, but I wouldn’t be so unkind or ridiculous as to suggest you were making up your post viral issues, or milking your initial symptoms, or that you should have just got on with it without a fuss like I did; like the way in which you speak so disparagingly of those with mental health issues.
      Let me tell you about my friend who works in an ICU - the patients she remembers the most through the pandemic, the ones that still haunt her, that were the most upsetting, are those that had tried to take their own lives but failed, and the prevalence of those patients rose starkly in 2020, but I guess their time in ICU wasn’t a ‘real’ problem. 🙄
      I hope you have a full recovery from your post viral issues but I think your thoughts on this issue are lacking in any form of empathy for anyone who experiences them. I hope you never have to.

      @@KirstyKirby I am sorry if you are offended, I didn’t mean to be rude; it’s just you are talking about 1st world countries problem and I am trying to pay attention to people who live in other world and they won’t understand “depression and ED” issues while they try to physically survive, that’s all… again sorry if I sound rude, English is not my first language.. it’s just sometimes it is so frustrating to hear about “mental health” problems when you see physically ill people all the time.. wish you luck on your journey 🤝

      @JuliaS putting clinical diagnosis in quotation marks is so unbelievably condescending. I find it really very sad that you find people who struggle with mental health and make attempts on their lives ‘frustrating’. Some of the wards that are amongst the most upsetting to visit are the mental health wards. Their issues are real and you belittle every single one of them with suggestions that their struggle is not worthy of empathy vs someone who has type two diabetes or heart disease caused by poor lifestyle. I feel sorry for you that you do not seem to have the ability to extend empathy to the man on the ledge, the woman who self harms, the veteran with PTSD, the young girl who has anorexia. Regardless of what struggles people might face in other countries, those people still deserve care, compassion and help.
      Saying people shouldn’t have mental health issues in the U.K. because some people have it worse in other countries is almost the equivalent of parents telling their children to clear their plates because there are children starving in Africa. Completely ridiculous.

    Try Bambu earth products. You can order a 2 week starter kit to see if you like it. All natural

      I’ve just had a look, it’s not a brand that is stocked in the U.K. Shipping and customs cost really expensive. Thanks for the suggestion though!
