TheDailyWoo - You’d have to get all lubed up to recreate the volleyball shots properly. I doubt that’s your “scene” ;-)
Take my breath away.....away... lol !! Good one Adam !!
TheDailyWoo Slacker to Top Gun LOL
This movie was my wife and I's first date. 32 1/2 years later we are still together.
Haha thats awesome. Me and my wifes 1st date was Hancock (drunken super hero )
sana all
I guess she didn't lose that loving feeling
You guys see the new one together? It was great
👏👏👏👏
I distinctly remember taking my youngest son to see this movie when he was 17. The next few weeks it was obvious he wanted to be a Naval Aviator because every other word was Navy this or Navy that and a few dozen Navy posters showing up on his bedroom walls. Well, when he graduated the following year off to the Navy he went. He passed all the exams and was admitted to Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island when he got his bars from there he was off to Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS) at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida where he received further training on both the F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet and carrier landings and takeoffs and somewhere during all of that he was also in the Naval Aviation Cadet (NavCad) Program due to the shortage in pilots back then he was finally allowed to attend college for his courses to satisfy his commision in 1994 and got his degree in 1996. I asked him one time if it was anything like the movie. He looked me right in the eye and said "Dad it sucks. The Navy won't let you do anything if you do anything shown in that movie they pull your wings and kick you out." I laughed for hours over that, myself I spend 24 years in the Army, 1946-1948 American Occupation forces Germany, Warrant Officer, and helicopter training 1949-1951, Korea, 1951-1953, 1954-1956. Vietnam 1960-1962, 1964-1965, 1967-1968 then back stateside until given my walking papers in 1970, retired as a Warrant Officer 4 (W-4).
Great story Andrew.
Either your memory/understanding of events is failing you OR you are full of sh*t.
Thank you for your and families service. God bless America!
Ha ha reality sucks....
@@USNRaptor care to tell us why?
What an awesome kick straight to the solar plexus of 80s nostalgia combined with a great portion of humor. Thank you so much for sharing this gem.
I love these filming location vids...almost detective-like work matching up the past to the present based on the limited clues available
Brings back so many memories of skipping class during my Junior year in High School to go see Top Gun!!!!!I was obsessed with this movie and was going to enlist in the Navy my senior year but wound up going in the Army 11 BRAVO Airborne at Ft Benning GA.I respect you Adam for taking us all on these memorable journeys back to these classic times in cinematic history.Thank you sir and it's greatly appreciated!!!!.Now it's on to the next video here on the channel...Join.... me....SHALL YOU?
I was in the Marine Corps 1st Recon in 1986, my wife, daughter, and I lived blocks away. We reenacted the motorcycle kissing scene on my bike at the marina after watching the movie. Oceanside was the laid back hippie area back then, there were all night guitar jam sessions on the beach by campfire fueled with LSD and weed. Really sad to see it bulldozed and turned into just another development. All the charm is gone, as is my wife. Such is life. Thanks for the tour.
This was such an iconic 80's movie! I loved the jets flying over when you were filming. Great job on all this! I remember I had a Top Gun Nintendo game that I used to think was so realistic!
I was there the day they shot the scene on the motorcycle. I have photos. I was recently out of bootcamp and stationed there in school as an enlisted sailor on what had been the Naval Training Center. I was probably coming back from lunch or something, because I would pass that way returning from lunch. They had about three different cycles they used and they were on a small trailer. They also later shot that scene in her car after Goose's death on the same place a few days later. In both scenes was hard to see the actors. The area was taped off to restrict access. Someone told me it was Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. I had walked down that hallway many times. I remember thinking how dull I thought the base was, and I was surprised they would use it for a scene. The Hollywood movie magic, though, made that hallway look incredible. I probably sat there and watched them do about 3 or 4 takes of the scene before moving on because as anyone knows who has watched movies being made, it's intensely slow and boring.
My friend and I grew up on this film when we were kids, we are now both 45 and still as thick as thief’s. Even now we still quote top gun phrases to each other mid conversation like it’s an in joke. Reminds us of our great friendship and growing up together..... hope you see this comment Jimmy (aka Goose) !
Top Gun is one of my all time favorite movies... thank you for this one!! I can’t wait to see the sequel!!
Heck yea

Adam, A very welcome blast from the past !!! Im from Canada was windsurfing at the time In Buxton North Carolina thats where i saw TOP GUN I will never forget that trip. My GF broke up with me two months before and when i got back I started see another girl who would later become my wife you just never know. The caper is now I'm divorced, retired, no debt and life is GOOD !!! Thank the Lord and pass the ammunition. :)
I was working at NAS Miramar when they started filming. It was exciting!!! Thanks Adam!!
A wonderful facility you were fortunate to be at, and I have fond memories of it too. Are you now in the Navy and/or Blue Angels?
No you weren't.
OMG that's sounds fun and cool ..Do you remember what scenes did you see?
MY WIFE AND I WENT ON A CRUISE (NO PUN INTENDED) AND WE DOCKED RIGHT NEXT TO THE USS MIDWAY, AND WE WALKED AROUND THE STREETS OF SAN DIEGO. I JUST HAPPENED TO COME UPON THIS PLACE. WE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THERE. I WALKED IN AND BOUGHT A T-SHIRT. I'M GLAD I GOT TO VISIT.
WOW, you did it again, Adam. This was terrific. TY for doing your homework, the legwork, and the commentary in order to match certain iconic scenes with their locations. NOBODY does this better than you, Adam...👍✔🤗
Thanks for showing these filming locations. Glad they haven’t torn down the house from the movie. I loved that movie and one of my favorite soundtracks! One of the great movies of the 1980s. 👍
One of my all time favorite movies from the 80's. Had a chance to see it in the theater when I was a kid.
This is one of my best favorites movies... love top gun
Amazing. Hope they saved that house. You brought back a lot of good memories. Thanks Adam.
I grew up in San Diego. The first time I saw Top Gun was at a small movie theater just north of the navy airfield where the Real Top Gun pilots trained. It was fun to hear some of them talking about the filming of the movie.
The best (of the best) 80's movies EVER :)

Such an excellent vlog Adam. Thanks for putting in the nice work and sharing with us 🙌🏻
What a classic movie. Thanks so much retracing time.
Great, I admit that the location where Goose played the piano was a blast from the past.
Thank you!
OH MY GOSH. Adam, I SERIOUSLY just watched Top Gun last night and I was just thinking about the bar they shot the piano scene in. I’ve been in the past. The last time I went they were talking about how they survived the fire. What are the chances! Great timing. Always love your film location shoots!
That's funny . Thanks for watching
TheDailyWoo THANKS for MAKING THEM! Always appreciate the hard work!
Oh heck yeah! “I feel the need... the need for speed”
Classic stuff
Tampa Jay Honestly This a great example why I love the Woo.

Cheesey'ist line ever !!!
Amazing almost 33 years of this film recreating the locations that has been filmed, i love top gun and thanks for the video.
Yay, another filming location video! As a kid, my parents took me to a state-of-the-art shop to see a new fangled device called a laserdisc player. They discussed a purchase as I browsed the titles. Top Gun is the only one I remember vividly!
Very interesting. Top gun will always be my favorite movie of all time.
Shaking my head and grinning @ Adam's rendition 😄😄😄😄
Very cool vlog! *OMG.. I was in jr high, nudging my sister during that "awkward" kissing scene because my parents took us! 🙈 We were so embarrassed, lol!
This movie was released 36 years ago , I am watching this video today on the 20 June 2022 in India I was astonished with how still in the United States of America and memories of Top Gun is still alive ? It came to India the same year. I saw the film I was probably 14 years old now I am 50 years old and so on … well the making and the star cast was amazing back then and is amazing now I still have to go and watch the sequel.. I don’t know that the sequel will be remembered for 36 years..but the original 1986 Top Gun will never ever die … it will always be in the hearts and mind of people across the globe and generations will talk about it I am sure they are talking about it even now ..
Born and raised here in San Diego we have beautiful beaches and tons of history, new top gun is also being filmed here in Diego again
Great movie, a real classic of its time. Love your take on filming locations Adam. I know this one will be great. Thanks for the awesome upload.
I grew up in Oceanside in the late eighties to late nineties and they have been talking about repairing the top gun house long as I can remember
I lived on base near Oceanside 1992 &1993. Been to the house and pier.
EDventures * I lived off of mission in a neighborhood called “posole” on puls st. I went to south O and lots of kids there lived on base
@@noneoftheeabove8514 That's great, I was 20 and 21 when I was stationed there
This created a whole lot of nostalgia!!!
At the end Adam sounds like Peter Griffin humming the Top Gun(Take My Breath Away) theme. LOL
Wow! Top Gun....you very rarely see vlogs about Top Gun filming locations. Great work, buddy!
Chris the Shrinerdawg and there’s nobody else lining up those impossible screen shots to actual locations. Sometimes I wonder how the hell he finds the most difficult to imagine locations based off the grainiest screen shots
Thank you for sharing this vlog. It
has taken my brearh away. Rock on
Feels good to have grown up around all these spots.
"Just walk away." I literally laughed out loud. Funny guy! 😂😂
Love the detail on these Adam. Appreciate the hard work you put into it.
I love Top Gun, Thanks for doing this Adam!
Wow! After 36 years ,still look the same since the first Top Gun!
I went to that bar when we pulled back into San Diego I was on the USS Nimitz. My co workers were telling me how good the beer was. I said beer is beer. I don’t know if it had to do with being out to sea so long or what but the beer there was amazing! Still the best bud-light I’ve been had to this day.
This is ironic, I just watched Top Gun yesterday. Great vlog as always, love the filming locations!
Adam, your always fun and interesting to watch. You go to some great places and share memories etc. However, every now and again you pull one out the bag that is quite mind blowing. I am sure different age groups of your channel will find different vlogs more appealing for their own reasons, but for me 1986 was my middle teens, and this film was huge. Just seeing that little blue house brought back so may memories. Fantastic vlog, I know have that song in my head, and I am now going to have to watch the movie again. have a great day Mr Woo.
Top Gujn 2 was such a Great sequel
Thanks so.much for presenting the film locations of TOP GUN 1. I enjoyed it very much. It was in the beginning of my twenties when I watched the movie in a movie theatre of my hometown. And now 36 years and two cities later in Berlin in Germany I was able to watch Top Gun II. I have not been to California for a long time. Time to return in the near future. My very best wishes. ☘️🙋♀️🌞
Oh my goodness, thanks man for leaving such a detailed introduction! I would definitely hope to visit there later
For the morbidly curious, just down the beach from the Top Gun house is Junior Seau's house where he unfortunately took his own life 😮
Oceanside is also where Anissa Jones, Buffy on Family Affair overdosed
Can only imagine the look on the patron's faces when you're nailing "Take My Breath Away". Great video, man!
Thank you for showing this. I was a young child saw the movie with my dad. Involuntarily it correlates with gone back times.
You should visit the filming locations of Cocktail...
I love Top Gun! I started singing “Take My Breath Away” too right as I saw this. :-) I literally gasped a few days ago when I saw Tom Cruise in the flight suit doing a promo for “Maverick!” Can’t wait! Another great movie location video from you Adam, love it! :-)
I heard the new movie got pushed back a bit
After the sequel is out even more film shoots ;)
I didn't know what top gun until about a year ago when my friend showed me. Didn't think much of a 80s movie but boy was a wrong. Absolutely best comedy
Man, this is VERY cool. Really enjoyed the entire video. Thanks for doing this for all the fans!!!
Adam, you can be my wing man any time
That's right, comm onnnnnn.
Talk to me Adam. Talk to me Adam. (Sweating nervously)
You never fail Adam. Keep up the good work
These are my all time favorite videos that you make all mighty Woo. Thanks
Oh wow. My old boot camp is now Liberty Station. Crazy!
This movie was largely responsible for my enlistment in 1992.
Your commitment and dedication on these videos are amazing well done on great work .
I love this!!! I've seen Top Gun so many times because it is my Mom's favorite movie of all time... Great video but you missed one key location, the volleyball scene!
that scene was filmed on base built the court filmed the scene and tore in down
Cinematic history at its best. Thanks, Adam.
One of my favorite movies ever, I was lucky enough to see this in person years ago.
Great movie location tour, Adam. Nobody has covered Top Gun like you have! I'd love to see more movie location vlogs like this, and less of the theme park vids, but that's just me. Thanks again Adam!!!! :-p
top gun is my favorite movie
Other than being an obvious fan of Top Gun...a few years back I was attending a 4th of July event in the south OC and the band playing was Berlin. I was crossing the crowd to reach my friends who reserved a spot to watch the fireworks...when all of a sudden that song (Take My Breath Away) started playing. She got on a roadie’s shoulder and walked the crowd. I looked up and she was singing those lyrics, looking down right in front of me! Surreal and a memory keeper to say the least!!
I love this video. Brings back memories of watching it all the time with my high school boyfriend.
THE DAILY WOO!!
Dang it Woo! I am gonna have Take My Breath Away stuck in my head now all day!
Ha same
@@TheDailyWoo Geez this song has become a real earworm for me today! I've been watching an Elvis movie marathon in honor of The King's bday & not even the songs from Blue Hawaii have been able to knock Berlin out of my head! 😂
Cant wait for the beyond long awaited squeal to a movie I snuck into the theater to see 13 times.
So awesome. Seeing Anthony Edwards go from Geek to Chic at the time was mind blowing.
love the intro
Great video! But they always are great.
Pauline Reeves I do agree!
This is one of my fave all time classics! Thanks for the memories! You always do bring a tickle to my funny bone!!! Now that song will b stuck in my head too! 😂
I had, and still have the Top Gun soundtrack LP.
People used to park their motorcycles in front of The Top Gun House and take a picture of it...
I can imagine . Would be cool to ride up in front of there on one

I guess like time it moves forward and that era is lost in time....
@@timexironman100m Like the sands of an hourglass....
awesome job! You should do CHiPs locations.
They filmed the locker room scenes inside the old original 1925 Mission Beach Plunge. I had an office in there and the crew used the side access (through my office) to get in and out of the room they converted to a locker room. I got to hang out in back of the lockers and a side room while they filmed. I upset Tom Cruise's emoting and was told shortly after I wasn't needed in there, BUT pages from a scrap book I was keeping about the Mission Beach roller coaster restoration (that was taking place at the time) was featured prominently on the bulletin board on the wall, clearly seen in the movie! Much more to the story, and it's one of my favorites.
I just came upon this. I am a native San Diegian but in 1986 I was in the Philippines with my Navy husband. I got to see this with a bunch of Navy airmen from Cubi NAB. It was quite the experience. Nice work Adam. 😎
Great video but you forgot to drive to vipers house at point loma lighthouse. Just a few miles from downtown san diego.
I was skeptical that any interior scenes were filmed at that house. I figured they would have been shot on the studio lot, in a recreated setting. I also thought the cozy lattice-walled enclave with the wicker furniture was filmed elsewhere, not believing there was enough space around the house for that setting. Thanks for pointing out some details which cleared things up.
Never this early. Never too early for Top Gun.
I was in grade school when the movie came out. Fell in love with it until today. And watching this video makes me feel old lol.. But thanks for sharing man!
love it
Woo! Woo!
OMG!!! At 10:48 you can see my ship. The mighty U.S.S. Ranger CV-61 "Top Gun of the Pacific Fleet". I served on her from 89-93. Some of the scenes from Top Gun were filmed aboard Ranger.
I was stationed on Camp Pend in the late 80's. This brought back lots of memories. Very pleasant to watch, thank you. Good job.
you have waited for 34 years to make that video LOL
Days Of Thunder filming locations needs to happen!!!!!!
The barn is still in Charlotte but its definitely getting old these days 😞
That would be a fun one
I live right down the road from the barn!
BrendanTheGent Thats awesome!! I was lucky enough to visit it when I was in the area for the ROVAL race.. Im a huge fan of Days of Thunder lol
@@InfieldIke i need to film it for youtube. Before anything happens to it.
Haha i was at the Roval race also.
You are amazing at finding the exact locations from all of these movies.
It's a fun challenge
Man, when you see how this area has developed, it makes me realise how cosy and comfortable in the eighties we all were, it's all soulless pop-up hotels and estates with no character now. How lucky we were to be alive in this time.
My uncle lived there in 86 and he remembers when they shot the movie and he was shocked at how muched had changed in that area when he returned to the US.
It was like the magic had completely gone and he just felt depressed walking through the neighbourhood 4 years ago.
Another awesome video 👍🏼
about Charlie’s house it makes me angry that everything is so over developed that they ruined that area they should’ve not ruined that area and demolished the surrounding bungalows it also makes me very sad that this society doesn’t value anything classic/historic because we loose out on so much beauty because people just don’t care anymore. 😢
You'll really ROLL your eyes if you see what they did with the cottage. Well, in all fairness it's good and bad. First they MOVED it from that location to down the street a bit to accommodate for said hotels. But they remodeled nicely and now it's a PIE shop! LOL, and there's a replica of Maverick's motorcycle parked in front which is always inundated with tourists. Da da da da daah da daahh. hahahahaha
@@markirons3838 I know and I am upset, they aught to have refurbished it to exactly what it was like in the movie… It’s sad and aggravating all at once!
I like how Viper and Charlie both have beach houses. I guess in the movies, everyone who lives in So Cal, lives on the beach.
On their money, yes :)
Being from the Kansas city area and noticing the kansas city picture on the wall behind Tom Cruise in a scene was awesome in the bar classic movie 👍
My favorite Movie. Fell in love with the military. Now I’m a 23 year Air Force vet
