I just absolutely love that whenever this show has characters we're not supposed to understand, they don't have them speak gibberish, they have them speak a real language and prompt the viewing audience to learn enough about the language to find out what the character said. There's no real logical reason why Lady Rainicorn speaks Korean, but it's a brilliant choice all the same. Such a subtle interesting way to introduce a little bit of real world diversity to the cartoon.

When Alva looks disappointed at the drawing Finn made, maybe it wasn't because of his drawing skills. Rather the fact that she asked him to draw her, and it looked bad, (and she probably thought Finn drew the Jake picture) Making her think her appearance was bad.
Or maybe I'm wrong. Oh well.

Also on the last island where Finn finds his mum, the shop signs are written in Swedish. So maybe the last humans "evolved" from Swedes?
After all, it's a multicultural country nowadays so names like Kim or Kulap are not that uncommon. Also it would make sense for them to speak both Swedish (as some kind of traditional language) and English since almost every Swede speaks (pretty well) English.

I think Alva's group was Founders Island's actual attempt at expanding beyond the island, because in Hide And Seek, Dr. Gross mentions that they tried expanding beyond the island, but they all died. It's possible this wasn't just a lie to keep Susan's thoughts in check, but also true to their knowledge. I'd guess after everyone else on the team died either they just left her there to leave the project to history, or they genuinely thought she was dead too. Then they just decided to use it as another reason not to leave the island. There was also the other island with all the VR players, but one could call that a failed attempt at civilization too. There was one VR guy on Founders Island, but there he is the exception, not the rule.

I believe Alva may have been the last generation of a Swedish society that survived after the dropping of the giant bomb. Something led her and a group of others to leave the mainland in search of new land. Their different culturally identifiable names may indicate that they are not all from the same society. There must have been something that made members of distinctly different societies that had survived , and likely separated ones as well, band together and migrate so far. Alva having a damage report also may hint that there was someone that she and the others answered to and were trying to relay information to. She may at one point planed on sending video recordings of their journey to the mainland. Perhaps there was at one time some type of government or exploratory institution that had banded them together for exploration. Let me know what you think.

I think the meaning of "edge" can be probably applied to a larger scale of Adventure Time ending. The edge, also known as the end of the island for Adventure Time, is near for Adventure Time, as the last season has already been recorded (according to John Di Maggio's tweet, "And then there were none"), and the Adventure Time crew knew that AT is ending in 2018; which will be here before we know it.

Its been hundreds of years sense the bombs fell right? so obviously land masses change over time. So all Im getting from this mini episode is that they are on Sweden, and are traveling to either the north pole or iceland

CaptainNightvale like, 990-1000, I think. Nonetheless, the continents in the year 900 A.D. Were pretty much in the same place. That is, unless so many bombs were dropped that it somehow deformed whole continents.

the landforms are different because there was a tidal wave, talked about in Marcys super secret scrapbook. there are references to LA and San Francisco on signs in ruins leading you to think that Ooo was California and since the islands dont seam that far from Ooo they are probably not in the Netherlands.

People probably won't see this cus this video was uploaded 2017 but I met Hannah K who works as a storyboard artist at adventure time and as we know she did the marceline and PB scene.
We talked about the Swedish in the episode and it wasnt supposed to be swedish i think they had a couple of languages to choose from but then ended up with Swedish since they knew that Hannah could find someone to do the voice acting! If I remember it correctly I think it might have been Hannah's grandma or her friends grandma who did the voice acting :^)

I really loved them having Alva in the episode cos I'm Swedsih so I could understand everything and that was really cool. But I remember thinking about those who don't undrstand what she says, it's not that hard to understand what she said, given the context that we got. But the translations were on point and yeah, good video👍

5:06 this reminds me of how I first reacted to reading some of the pictures of the Moomins comics (i got interested in Moomins this year) and getting really confused when I saw pictures of the characters holding a sign that said “slut” until I read the comments saying it meant “end”, so as I watched this video, I was wondering how Adventure Time would dodge the confusion

I love that they used swedish as a lost language, but for a swedling like it sounds like a Swed that forgot how to communicate, which is really accurate to how speech is impaired by isolation.
But yeah it's swedish and if you consider years of isolation this is probably how it would sound.
Also huge cred love your channel.

Hey there, love all the videos on adventure time, I have to say that I have a hard time wraping my head around how you can so completely understand an episode its nuts to me. I had a request if you dont mind, I have an intrest in themes of duality and the episode: "The Mountain" seemed to be about duality, I'd love to see a review if it's not to much trouble as sometimes I have difficulties deciphering the meaning behind adventure time and clearly your much better at it.

I believe it is pretty obvious that most/some of the humans were not killed by the animals.
All of the animals wear different coloured boots, the same as those humans. The first house Fin goes into is a bird house aswell as built for humans (ladder, has a human bed, books and growing seeds).
When Alva says 'haven't seen someone like him in a while' she is talking about a human that has not transformed/evolved/etc into an animal.
Not to mention it is called 'back to nature island'.
