Z32 started it all. Other manufacturers had to up their game once the z hit the streets.
Tony T actually the VG30DET was where it really started. First mass produced Japanese V6.
1jz mk3 2jz mk4. VG30E(T) z31 VG30DE(TT) z32. 4 completely different engines made to compete in races regulated to 3 liter engines. Only similarities (vague ones) are the blocks of the VGs and the JZs. All reliable at moderate levels.

yea ppl say the supra outperforms it but actually the Z outperformed the supra from 90-93. The corvette outperformed the supra in 97. So the supra had about the same amount of time as the top performing car as the Z.

Z32 for life..all time favorite car..I have a 94 tt that is one of the nicest left in existence that will never be sold..its time the Z gets the respect and value of the other great Japanese golden era cars..

@@dustovshio It's subjective, to each their own. I do like the RX7 quite a bit and it probably is the most timeless. However, my personal ranking would be 300ZX, RX-7 and a distant 3rd is the Supra which to me looks like it was based on something a toddler made out of playdough. Now the previous Supra, I liked a lot more.
@@cornflakes7664 agreed. Rx7 may be more popular with the ladies due to its FF cult status but after watching all of the RX7 vids seems like the Z32 is a cut above in styling area.
Because you can debadge a Z32 and tell women it's an Italian exotic and they will 100% believe you.
Z32 for me. Can anyone say when a supra has ever won an endurance race like the 12hrs of Sebring or win its class at the Daytona 24hrs. Everybody knows the Z32(300zx) has wins in both those races.

The Z32 actually won Daytona outright by 24 laps, first front engine rear drive car to do so in over 20yrs. It won its class at LeMans, won Sebring outright all in the same year. The GT racing series then banned the VG30DETT the following year. Porsche and Corvette breathed a sigh of relief.
OUR Z32 what you said is gospel. Thats why I along with a fee others say the Z32 IS the most underrated JDM car out there. A lot of its achievements go unoticed.

I’ve owned two z32 TT and I love it. Being in my 20s and broke. I bought my first 1990 Z32 TT. Just had a custom eBay exhaust catback, popcharger filter and HKS SSQV but it spun a rod bearing sat in the garage for 2 years till I was able to get the money to fix it and sold it. For 6500. And then I found a white 1991 z32 shell bought it for 400 bucks then bought a jdm vg30dett. The shell had horrendous red carpet interior which I switch it out for the black leather seats and black door panels. Did a leak down test on the motor, checked compression. This time around my mods were twin JWT popchargers, JWT EPROM chip, nismo 555cc injectors, hicas removal kit, z1 driveshaft, top speed custom exhaust. It was fast af I miss it so much

Nice thing about the 300ZX or Fairlady Z is they are still easily obtainable and affordable than the Supra .Such underrated cars with lots of potential and beautiful and sleek cars by Nissan and is often overshadowed by Skylines among others .Id say if you ever have a chance to get one a decent one at a good price even if it’s a N/A 2+2 BUY it.JDM parts a plenty for these cars .
Z32 is a prettier car, wicked fast if you're willing to put in the work and not to mention, it's loud. I'd you've ever been near a z32 you'll understand just how brutal that sound can get.
Well since the Supra is so famous it makes the 300zx so much easier to get in comparison just try to find a mint 300zx tt that costs as much or even close to a Supra in the same condition
I got a 1985 300ZX Turbo auto with a digital dash in candy red at age of 20 in 1986 in Houston. Got many compliments and could hear the turbo boost from the inside but my friends driving a firebird could hear it much louder when passing him.
Then got a 1985 cpe manual in burgundy in 1988, a 1987 NA auto with digital dash in dark silver in 1996. Got one of the last production year 1996 TT version manual in pearl in 2000 and that was a beast smoking the same year M3 on I5 in CA. Got a brand new 350Z auto in black in 2005 in New Port beach as my last Z sold in 2007. Porsche has been my most favorite sports car since owning a 2005 Boxster S

people dont realize the z's design is a notch above the supra's and They could have as easily used the z32 in the FF and today they'd be selling for 100k.
I used to own a fairlady wow was she ever fast ten seconds without my nos and eight seconds with my nos and I destroyed a lot of cars back in the day with her but my God do I ever miss her every day

What ever said and done its the z32 300zx tt that made it to car and drivers top ten list six years in a row. Supra lacks the finesse and overall balance of the z32. And it looks awful in and out.

My twin turbo sounds like poop compared to a 2J... And its a bitch to work on... And everything is WAY too expensive... I love it... but ill take an RB or 2J over this VG any day of the week.

@@phines93 oh yes NA's sound fantastic with hardened stainless and titanium type exhaust, x pipe brings up the pitch a lot. But having twin turbos on the ends of your exhaust manifolds changes the sound quite a bit buddy lol

The Mk4 Supra is a legend in its own right. But they've become so expensive, that it makes no since to call it the underdog anymore. The Z32 is the more realistic choice between the two.
