Toyota Supra:
The Toyota Supra is a sports car/grand tourer that was produced by Toyota Motor Corporation from 1978 to 2002. The styling of the Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider. Starting in mid-1986, the A70 Supra became a separate model from the Celica. In turn, Toyota also stopped using the prefix Celica and began just calling the car Supra. Owing to the similarity and past of the Celica's name, it is frequently mistaken for the Supra, and vice versa. First, second, and third generation Supras were assembled at Tahara plant in Tahara, Aichi while the fourth generation Supra was assembled at the Motomachi plant in Toyota City.
The Supra also traces much of its roots back to the Toyota 2000GT with the main instance being its engine. The first three generations were offered with a direct descendant to the Toyota Crown's and 2000GT's M engine. All four generations of Supra produced have an inline 6-cylinder engine. Interior aspects were also similar, as was the chassis code "A".
Along with this name and car Toyota also included its own logo for the Supra. It is derived from the original Celica logo, being blue instead of orange. This logo was used until January 1986, when the A70 Supra was introduced. The new logo was similar in size, with orange writing on a red background, but without the dragon design. That logo, in turn, was on Supras until 1991 when Toyota switched to its current oval company logo. (The dragon logo was a Celica logo regardless of what color it was. It appeared on the first two generations of the Supra because they were officially Toyota Celicas. The dragon logo was used for the Celica line until it too was discontinued.)
In 1998, Toyota ceased sales of the Supra in the United States and in 2002 Toyota officially stopped production of the Supra in Japan.
Generation names are A40, A60, A70, A80. A trend started by American owners was to name the cars using Volkswagen Mark terms but this was never adopted by Toyota nor used in any of its publications. The official Toyota names refer to the chassis codes only. Toyota uses the name Mark II to refer to its X chassis platform cars that include the Mark II, Cressida, Chaser, and Cresta models.
The Supra has appeared in numerous video games, movies, music videos and TV shows. Some of the most notable appearances include the Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport, Need for Speed, Midnight Club, and Forza Horizon video games and The Fast and the Furious film series.
Nissan 300ZX:
The Nissan 300ZX is a sports car in the Nissan Z-car family that was produced across two similar but unique generations. As with all other versions of the Z, the 300ZX was sold within the Japanese domestic market under the name Fairlady Z.
Sold in Japan from 1983 to 2001 and in the United States from 1984 through 1996, the 300ZX name followed the numerical convention initiated with the original Z car, the Nissan S30, which was marketed in the U.S. as the 240Z. The addition of the "X" to the car's name was a carryover from its predecessor, the 280ZX, and signified the presence, either standard or optional, of luxury and comfort oriented features not present on previous models.
Despite the presence of that additional equipment, the first generation "Z31" variant of the 300ZX (1983-1989) continued in the tradition of the original S30 as a mid-priced model. The second generation "Z32" was driven up-market, being faster, more capable, more advanced, and much higher priced than its predecessor, with consecutive price increases each model year of availability. As such, the Z31 was the more accessible, and ultimately the more popular model, selling over 100,000 more units in total than the Z32.
Car and Driver placed the Z32 on its Ten Best list for 7 consecutive years, each model year of its availability in the United States. Motor Trend awarded it as the 1990 Import Car of the Year. The Nissan 350Z, officially the Z33 generation Z-Car, succeeded the 300ZX in 2003.

I enjoy both the cars, but the 300zx to me is just pretty darn on top.

Lets not forget that a clean 300zx is under 20k and will hang with all the other stock "iconic" cars of the era.
Not to mention I think the 300ZX is the best looking 90s JDM cars. And I got a mostly clean(it's got a couple issues) and stock one for three grand

Truth is revealed once the twin turbos kick in its all over. The Z was faster than the supra out the box hands down.
It was proven that the zx tt was fastest in a motorweek test which included rx7 , 3000gt and the fat supra. Also the zx was in car and driver top ten from 90 to 96 straight. None of the others ever made it to even one such list.

I have a twin-turbo Manual and can say that this is true joining on to a motorway and following a supra that was trying to leave me in the dust I was so surprised I always assumed the supra was a little quicker but he did not look happy 😂 at the traffic lights.

Thanks to "The fast and the furious", the Supra and Skyline have gained a god-like status in the car world which has driven their reps (and prices) through the roof. The Z32 is still as humble as ever and so underrated imo.
Mat Zシ True, plus check out what the origional 'fast & furious' story was based from. In the origional DVD there are credentials about 'Racer x' who won races in a black 300zx (Racer x / Rafael Estevez). The character that portrayed him would probably be Dom who used a red Mazda Rx7.
z32 prices have just recently begun to go up on TT models. Can't find a single one under $10k in the midwest with less than 100,000 miles and a good body. Mine has no a/c, and poor body condition, picked it up for $6500 with 137,000 miles.

Ive never seen a supra get smoked by a ZXtt so many times in my life.
My first car was a 90 300zxTT, it was a fun car for sure. I thought they were around 320hp stock though? It's listed as being only 300hp here. I'd love to get another one, it's hard to find one in good condition that wasn't best up. If you do, you're going to spend atleast 15k easy. I will still give the Supra props though. Both cars are timeless and some of the best sports cars ever made for the average joe. I'm glad Nissan is keeping to their roots with the new 400z. A VR30DDTT with a manual, what more could you ask for? Can't wait to see that car in action, it's going to have a lot of potential.

Prove that you guys know nothing lmao, the IMSA and most LeMans cars used the VG30 series of engines, both the VG30DETT and the VG30ET,
With a swap of injectors, piping, turbos, fuel lines and a proper tune, the 300zx could smoke a Supra
Damn these are some bold statements y'all are putting out. The 2jz is the better engine, screw the forums check actual graphs from testing. But when work is put into the VG30 it can be a monster. The thing about the VG is it's a pain in the ass to work with. But after it all you'll save half as much to get the same power and looks compared to if you had a supra. Again all this is because of media promoting the supra and the skylines repetitively, while undermining cars like the 300zx for ex. This isnt a video showing discrediting the supra. It's more like a video really showing us that there are other cars just as good.
But I love both of them
The z is just more low slung, aerodynamic, and lighter. The insane mid range torque of the vg is just killer too. An absolute destroyer of 50 rolls.
The 2jz and the vg30dett are two of my favorite engine...but the 2jz is just a different animal..but the vg30dett is just as deadly in the right tuners hand.

The Supra's price is skyrocketing right now,I guess my last option for a good twin turbo car is the 300ZX Z32 but I've heard its a pretty good car too

600hp+ supra vs 236hp na zed was only ever ending one way, still matched its 1/8 mile time on the timing slip though haha.
Love the supra and the zed, only chose the zed myself as they are so much lighter than the supra, (well my slicktop is)
I went with the 300ZX TT. I had options but went with the 300ZX because not only it looks great but it’s very underrated. Difficult to work on but you’ll get used to it. Evo, Supra, Skyline are too overrated imo.

I got a 1985 300ZX Turbo auto with a digital dash in candy red at age of 20 in 1986 in Houston. Got many compliments and could hear the turbo boost from the inside but my friends driving a firebird could hear it much louder when passing him.
Then got a 1985 cpe manual in burgundy in 1988, a 1987 NA auto with digital dash in dark silver in 1996. Got one of the last production year 1996 TT version manual in pearl in 2000 and that was a beast smoking the same year M3 on I5 in CA. Got a brand new 350Z auto in black in 2005 in New Port beach as my last Z sold in 2007. Porsche has been my most favorite sports car since owning a 2005 Boxster S
Basically these are even matched, the 2JZ can put out a lot of power with twin turbos, but if you get the Z tuned by the best tuners and bolt ons, you can put out 500-600hp, and after u install twin turbos you can out 1400hp-1800hp, the supra can put out the same numbers...

After you install twin turbos? Bro this car is already twin turbod Nissan was making 700+ in their GT racing series after they detuned it from over 1000+ you can look this shit up. Engines can both make the same power if that’s what you want out of it but the Z will always be a better driver car as it was built from the ground up for racing
In the 1990s these cars were titans, along with the Mitsu 3000GT VR4, the Mazda RX-7, and of course the Vette LT-1 and the Porsche 968.

i believe that it should have been the 300zx vs the supra in the fast and the furious to begin with. These two cars are so similar to each other its ridiculous. Honestly the skyline is only a rival to the supra because it too has a turbocharged inline six engine and four wheel drive.

The 300zx tt was in car and drivers top ten from 90 to 96 consecutively. Supra never made it to the list. So who is the winner according to the best car mag? And it looks so good compared to the flabby and ugly supra. Supras interior is awful too.

2jz lacks torque while the v6 vg is an all around street engine. I think the 2jz is a full second faster 5.4 to 6.4 seconds I believe in the quarter mile record.

At first i thought of subbing to this channel. But then, i noticed that you're just a supra fanboy and jdm biased.
That's why i have an 91 z32tt.
I own 94 Supra NA (no mods) & hubby owns Turbo 95 Z w/mods) The Z is sweet ride & is a fricken screamer. Z kicks Supra’s ass easily.
But on a mountain windy road my Supra kicks Z ass, honesty the Z can’t keep up !
Supra handles & corners “effortlessly”. Zero lean on turns, rear end never brakes loose, no wheel hopping. Vs Z handles & corners with effort. It’s somewhat unpredictable, rear end brakes loose easily, lean in turns are felt. The Z does handle well but not like my Supra.

My Supra definitely out handles Z. Hubbys 300Z is turbo w/mods & my Supra is NA stock. Z easily out runs my Supra. That’s ok I don’t drive my Supra like I stole it !

There was a time when Nissan was a good brand,years before the Renault merger.the Z series was a magnificent world class sport car,as far as I am concerned: RIP Nissan.
Only when it comes to bottom tier Nissan's, even still they are reliable af. When it comes to the mid 00s, Nissan's killed the game with the VQ35DE engine. They are extrmemly reliable, can take a beating and last forever. My G35X has over 213k rn and it's still going strong. Then they made them even better with the VQ37HR. The R35 GTR is no slouch, plenty of 1000+hp R35s out there. They made a fast V8 too with the VK45DE & VK56DD engines. The Infiniti M56 has a 5.6 liter V8 that's over 400hp stock. It can take on Chargers and Camaros all day. Then the Infiniti Q50 with the VR30DDTT, which they are putting in the new 400z with a manual. That engine has so much potential, there's a lot of them pushing close to 500hp with just FBO and a tune. They still make great cars imo, I've never had a major issue with any 00 and up Nissan/Infiniti after the Renault merger. They are great cars and a great bang for your buck. If you want a good reliable used car you can't go wrong with a G35 or G37.

Nissans always pick up speed fastest on the go. At one time from 0-60 it was the fastest car in the world for over a decade until Buggatti came over. Nissans have far less horsepower but still wins most races. Japanese technology at its best. I reckon 900bhp GTR can beat a Buggatti at 1003bhp.

I've always wanted to buy a 300ZX to 2JZ or RB swap it. The original 30ZX engines can be hard to work on and just don't take abuse well without having reliability issues.
Stock for stock when they were both released the 300ZX fairlady Z was faster than the Supra even though they're both some fat b****** and both got walked on stock-for-stock By is the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 also known as the GTO VR4

vr4 is way to heavy with considerably less torque and power it doesn't rev as freely as the supra and doesn't have the pull up top of either it does however launch a little harder as its four wheel drive but stock for stock the vr4 is a bit of a boat
here in NZ we get the actual jdm zx supra and gto and in stock form the z is quicker

Factually inaccurate. Supra 0-60 is 4.6-5.2. 300zx is 5.7.
lol iv got a 1991 z with 190000ks on the clock stock as a block auto and i can consistently get sub 5 second 0 100kph and that's recorded with a Uniden GPS so i say Jim your dead right you are factually inaccurate
