“We’ll bivy here and go for the summit in the morning” 😂 love a supportive mom
it's actually a quote from my dear friend and climbing mentor Lee, who would always say that at the base of any multipitch route, even if we were only a mile from the parking lot
Beau Miles would like this, in both concept and execution, I thnik!
Love it-the mom cameo, the excessively dramatic music, the vibe, the idea. Makes me wanna make more low-budg stuff that's just fun like this!
such a fun phone call with Ian, the guy who did the music, talking about how over-the-top we should make it
This is SO Alastair Humphreys, and I loved every minute of it.
Haha! I so loved his idea that I have now stolen it myself...
I've only watched 3 minutes so far and I LOVE IT (and your mom) but I'm gonna save the rest for my GIGANTIC 55inch TV ;) Thank you for doing what you do
thank you my friend, I don't know how you do this like every week
This was really fun and inspirational! Please do a whole film with your mom. I’m a fan.
I always make it a point to watch "How to Run 100 Miles" after each training run, race, or monumental effort, sometimes I just need a little pick me up. I'm so excited to see this new addition to my regular feel-good viewing lineup. Kudos to you, Brendan, for the amazing, inspirational content. Thank you!
Hell yeah. I love that video too. Watch it all the time
super cool, thank you!
Awww Rowlf! Love the idea and the execution. Well done!
Brendan, you've inspired me to do a local seven summits of Southern Maine. Average elevation gain will be 3K, but I'll make my own fun! 🤪
This came up on my feed again! This summer I rode my bike in 3 days and bike packed to 8 summits in the Black Hills of SD that are over 7,000 ft and went to the top of each. Thanks again.
You've made it to the summit of Mount Jumbo. There are puffy white clouds in the sky, and it might drizzle in a couple of hours. If you choose to go down and get pastries and coffee, turn to page 34. If you choose to hunker down for the night and try to weather the impending storm, turn to page 39. This was my favorite 18 minutes I've spent all day - brilliant!
This was pretty great: 1. Your summits look like Grape Crush candy corn; 2. Your closed captions are thoughtful and edited. Thank you. 3. It was inspirational. I'm glad you had fun. 4. The women in your life are pretty great. Hope your back's healed up! And thank you for sharing this with us.
this video was the first time I figured out how to edit the closed captions-glad you noticed! (And yes, I'm a lucky guy(
What up, YiShun... ;)
Hi, Brian!! @@bpg459
Brandan, This is great dog! - I love it - might do my own version but only 5 or something silly. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers, Steve aka The Talking Fly
Totally semi-rad.
So great. Love the chosen, local adventure, and the human powered. Speaking of which: What is that great bike?
It's this one! ruclips.net/video/hUNEM3WrNKI/видео.html
This was excellent. Thanks for the inspiration to get out and explore the new neighborhood. There's a peak we can see out the front window. Keep wondering what it is. Guess its time to choose my own adventure and go find out. PS. Your mom is awesome.
and you're in a new neighborhood!
This is genius!
(AKA... "Damn, I wish I'd had that idea!")
So good, thanks for this reminder to enjoy your own hood.
Brendan
I connect with your content. I am also a person who likes to think up new and exciting adventures that most would shy away from due to the planning or lack of they take. Last spring we ran to all the tracks in my city/Sioux Falls, SD and between them. We are doing a YoYo hike on the Centennial Trail of SD, I’ve ran to many gas station chains across my city, I have many more to come. You just reinforced that I am in the right path. The path of adventure! If I get to Missoula expect me to find you to say Hi and thanks!!
Love this! Totally inspired by your take on this idea. I watched with my daughter and she said “Man, this guy really does know how to make his own fun!” 😀
I've been a couple of places where there are two possible true summits and each one looks higher when viewed from the other one.
I guess the people who do county highpoints have several places in the Midwest where you have to visit a dozen different spots to say you've for sure been on the highest point in the county-I'm aware of at least one where a guy went to 90+ places in Illinois!
That Arcteryx button down was an unexpected bit of running gear for the summit of Black Bear.
Points for looking stylish while sweating in the woods. 7:50
I actually ran a 100K race in that shirt a couple months after I filmed this!
Canadian writer/photographer Patrick Morrow was well on his way to be the first guy to climb the 7 Summits. Millionaires Wells and Bass got wind of his project and beat him to it with their unlimited funds. Patrick ended up being third. I believe his book is called Beyond Everest. If Arc’teryx had of been around then I’m sure he would have been a sponsored Arc’teryx Athlete. 😊
Excellent video! Most enjoyable and inspirational. Love your mother!
Omg, Brendan, you precious human, you! I am so grateful I found you and your content years ago and can continue to join your joy ride through life if only virtually. Thank you for doing you in the best way
Also, your mom ❤❤❤
Wow, thank you!
I’m from Missoula. Still have family there. Need to do this.
Loved it 👍
There's a Fresh Prince of Bel Air "Seven Summits of my Neighborhood" mash up here somewhere
ahahaha yessss
What an awesome video! Thanks for sharing. My flat state sucks, but I hope to be in a more vertical state soon. BTW...your wife is awesome!
I never really comment on videos, but this is one of my favorite things I've watched in a while. The dramatic music, the wholesome mom cameo, and mostly just the solid reminder to enjoy the nature and adventure around you. Thank you for this, perfect way to start my day.
Such an entertaining watch, I loved it 😊 You live in a fantastic spot with so much outdoor beauty and challenge around you! So well put together - major kudos!!🏆
This is a really fun video. Thanks for making this. Now I need to think of something fun like this to do.
Fun, inspiring edit! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm already planning my seven summits.
(Tip: I find that half-worn pair of Speedgoats is pretty compatible with flat pedals, so you don't have to change shoes between running and cycling).
This made me smile and I watched it to the end. Good stuff. Oh and are those Phil Gaimon sunglasses?
Fun and motivating!
Great stuff!!
thank you!
Love this pure and simple idea, plus all the great cameos
🔥🔥🔥
Loved it. Thanks for having a great idea, haha!
That was a most excellent adventure; thanks for sharing. As for locking your bike in fairly remote places, my mom used to call it keeping honest people honest.
That is exactly what we say!
This was great stuff! Follow you on twitter and instagram and have read no less than 2 of your books and just now finding out you have RUclips. New subscriber!
I LOVED this! Make your own fun and choose your own adventure. Thank you!
Absolutely loved this!
I love your mom 😂 this was great man!
My town!
Love it!! Man, your Mom is in amazing shape! I hiked the Wind Rivers as a teen and we tied jingle bells to our pack to let the bears know we were around. Do you know if that works? Love your enthusiasm!! Keep going!
You can get bear bells for your pack or bike at most outfitters. 🙂
Awesome 👏🏼
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I enjoyed this very much. Keep choosing your own adventures! It’s working. ❤
Thank you, Gio!
Awesome video!! Love the encouragement to just get out there and find/make an adventure and it doesn’t need to be the biggest expedition in the world.
Made me smile during my cheese sandwich lunch on the beach here in Alaska. Thanks Brendan.
Thanks for the tour of beautiful autumn views in/around Missoula. Miss that place a ton.
Very good.
New t-shirt saying for you...Mind the Scat
a play on the iconic London subway phrase, of course, so a similar logo would make it 'sing' 😆
Fully Rad
Nice work, BL. Perfect excuse to procrastinate on writing this university course syllabus. Congrats on leading "What Distracts Brian" Power Rankings.
Fun video! I second the comment about more adventures with Mom!
What an awesome project, Brendan! Pushing the envelope on the micro-adventure into a grander local scale!
Excellent!
Love it - had you waited 2 more months it would have appeared it was right on time :)
Great stuff. I love the idea, and actually had a similar one back in 2001-ish, and I was living in south Florida at the time. Unfortunately the tallest summits in south Florida were highway on ramps and giant landfills, so I scratched it.
Loving the epic music with the mountains :) ❤
This is great, dad!
ah was just going to email you a link to this but never mind (and thanks!)
This is fabulous. So very well done.
(Also, I can't believe Al made his own micro-version of it in, like, 4 days. The man is possessed.)
Haha!
Love this!! There's def something about adventuring in your own backyard. So was this the FKT then?😉
hahaha yes, but I think technically, you can only use one mode of transportation in an FKT?
Awesome. This is inspiring me to try something similar!
Absolutely love this video. Keep em coming!
I loved this film, what a great adventure!! Beautifully edited, funny, and inspirational; I’m now looking at the mountains around me and plotting… 👀
This was awesome! Would love to see you continue to create this kind of content!
Always love your stuff, but when are you bringing that sweet ride back to Iowa for RAGBRAI?
oh sometime soon-glad it wasn't this year though! I heard it was super hot
@@semi_rad It was and I didn't know central Iowa could be so hilly.🙂
I love this and Kathy, so so good. Congratulations on Reaching Your Everest. Is hiking with the safety taken off your bear spray equivalent to dropping into a ski line with your avalung in your mouth and airbag inflated 😆?
I think that sounds correct, except it might be easier to put the safety clip back on the bear spray than to repack an avalanche airbag?
I would love to run up mount sentinel sometime I mean it's close and it's a fun hike. Also my home town is Missoula lol
Great video 🎉man, congratulations 🥳
Who makes that bike bag on your top tube? Those colors are rad!
Oveja Negra-it's made of scraps so you don't get to really choose the colors: www.ovejanegrabikepacking.com/collections/frame-bags/products/1-2-pack-frame-bag-wack-pack-limited-color
@@semi_rad thank you good sir!
“Not exactly”
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Now do it again but with all your limbs duct taped! 😂
Sometimes the best way to protect a bike is to ride a bike that nobody would steal. I think you’re close. ;)
that one is actually a custom steel frame made by a dear friend, hence the 5-pound lock
Great stuff! semi_rad doing it like the one and only backyard adventurer @BeauMiles
