On March 19, 2022 a small group of like-minded adventure seekers sought out to run the double crossing of the Grand Canyon (48 Miles/77 Kilometers) in a single day. We descended down the Bright Angel trail, across the Colorado River and through the Canyon before we ascended up the North Kaibab trail to the nearly 8,300' North Rim only to turn around and do it all over again.
This is the film of our traverse through one of the most stunning places on Earth, what we brought with us, the highs and lows and everything in between.
Thanks to all the members of the Adventure Club and a special thanks to Hilary Matheson and Mark Griffith for the additional footage.

Excited to check this one off the adventure bucket list!

Thanks Billy. I'm an ultra runner recovering from a major injury. I've found myself walking, slowly, on my treadmill and watching through all of your videos. You have an innate ability to make me still feel like part of the ultra community. When I watch race coverage, especially races I had to withdraw from, its hard because I'm looking at what I'm missing. Videos like this keep reminding me why I'm working so hard to come back and why its not about the time or the finish its about the journey. It keeps my head right when my legs hurt.
You ARE a part of the ultra community. No doubt getting injured feels lonely...but we will always be here waiting. Keep working on the journey!
@@BillyYang I don't even know what to say here...wow. What a kind thing to say.
Best of luck in your recovery Todd!
Wish you all the best fellow runner! Keep up the strong spirit and work!! 👍👍
You are not alone bro. Soon we will be fully recovered. I wish you all the best from Switzerland.
Hilary is just filled with boundless energy and enthusiasm for an adventure isn't she? She's a keeper
Indeed! ❤️
One simple word comes to mind:
Inspiring
"Film when you dont want to film" - otherwise you wont get that footage. I cant blelieve id pick up that camera after 40 miles but boy was it worth it mate. For me the whole video is vibing with positive energy - the smile of your girlfirend even after like 40 miles getting you distracted and up that last pitch said everything for me. Great work Billy !
She's a keeper Billy. 48 miles and she is smiles all the way. That's an attitude and mindset few people have.
I have yet to make it to the GC in my 42 years of living on this blue ball. After watching this I want to take my wife and young kids to experience this natural wonder.
Thank you for sharing!
I was just thinking this exact thing! 43 years for me but my wife and kids (and me) need to see this bad boy:)
R2R2R was a life changing experience that brought my friends and I closer together on our spiritual and personal journeys. It is a journey to respect and truly take the time to slow down and experience all the canyon offers.
Billy, that is - by far - the best capturing of the GC I have seen. It’s twelve years since I’ve been and your film has me itching to go back and experience the vastness and beauty of the canyon again. R2R2R is my bucket list adventure. Time to start planning. Love it. Thank you.
Love it - appreciate the kind words Phil!
“If you want to be humbled in the best way possible” perfectly describes the feeling finishing the R2R2R. I got goosebumps when you guys first headed down BA. Brings back memories of my R2R2R! Thx for sharing!
That line got me too ! So beautifully stated and so accurate
Billy Yang Films = GOAT of Ultrarunning filmmakers. Thanks for all the inspiring content year after year :)
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for putting kilometers and meter in video, it is much more understanding for the rest of the world! Great video as always!
👌🏼👌🏼
Love it. Did this 2.5 years ago and I am itching to do it again. Until then - this awesome movie will fill the void. Thank you.
Billy, you've done it again. Another well shot, brilliantly narrated film. You inspire a lot of people. Keep it going. Big ups.
Great video, Billy. Your love for the running community is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Always a joyful surprise to have one of Billy’s videos available!! Great footage accompanied by one of the best story tellers ever on RUclips!! Thank you Billy for all of your excellent work! Hope that someday I will be able to visit GC!!!🙏🙏🙏
This was beautiful to watch. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Excellent and inspiring, as usual. Thank you!
Billy is back! Yet another Awesome film Billy. Thank you! A little more than a year ago I came across your channel with “the why” of 100 miles. It inspired me and I joined the trail running community by completing my first 100 with 6’200mD+ in the Swiss Alps last september. It also inspired me to start my youtube channel. It has helped me put words on my values that I am sharing with my children. It has given me a heading. For this, a big thank you and hope to see you on the trails!
Another great one Billy. Thank you for sharing your experiences so openly.
Banging video. As someone who spends their mornings shifting around the Surrey Hills in England. As grateful as I am for the trees and comparably tiny incline routes its hard not to be envious of spectacular vistas available across the Atlantic.
It's so hard to understand until you stand at the edge and look across the canyon. Love how much this captures that!
Loved this, great job guys! Very inspiring and grateful you shared the story :)
Dang if Hilary didn't knock it out of the park! Not only did she not appear to be tired, but chatty the whole time! People like her can absolutely keep your spirits up when you're ready to throw in the towel.
She’s the best adventure partner ❤️
Now I wanna go and run the Grand Canyon! That was awesome. Great concept too. Meeting up yearly to just run something is a great idea. Thanks for creating that. I loved it.
Billy, , your films never disappoint !!!! That was amazing!!!!
Truly inspirational, Billy and the rest of the team. Thank you for sharing with us!
I really appreciated your comments about the perspective change that happens during the course of a long effort: how the excitement & colorfulness of the run transitions to the grind! Well done!
By far the best documentary I’ve seen of this bucket list adventure. Flying down on May 18th to do it, and more excited than ever. Thanks for sharing 😉
Awesome film again Billy, you never put a bad film out. I watch these from the UK and I just get so jealous watching the places you run, amazing scenery, got goosebumps quite a few times looking at the views, can't imagine what it felt like for you actually being there
ive been struggling a lot lately... and this video really helps me... i need to get out and get to work... thank you... there is so much wisdom in your videos...
Thanks, for taking us on your journey. It brought back some good memories of my wife and I crossing last September. Heading back in June, you inspired me to film this upcoming amazing adventure.
Love your words as much as I love your pictures, Billy. Another great film. Thank you.
Awesome. Thanx for sharing your trip with us, providing us with great scenery. Marvelous memories.
Love your films of these adventures. Feels like I'm there with you.
Billy!! You look happier, healthier & just overall in great standing. I am so happy for you!
Thanks Marcela! 🙏🏼❤️
This gave me chills! It makes me want to go and experience it!!
Just took the kids there last fall and now can't stop thinking about how soon I can plan my double crossing. Thanks for sharing Billy and putting it all together!! Can't wait to make it happen!!
This was so beautiful and inspiring. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. This truly brought back amazing memories of running R2R2R October of 2019.
Thanks, Billy. Awesome video, as always.
I have followed your work for years now. And it happens that in my circle of friends we have been talking about a big trek in the Grand Canyon NP. I immediately shared this video with them. You inspired me and made me dream. Thanks 🙏
Billy, I haven't run in several years, and after watching this I'm thinking I need to get back to it.
Thanks for sharing your journeys and inspiring the running world.
Thank you. I hope you come back to find us Dan.
Dan. Please start slow go just a few blocks. And a few months you'll be able to do a 5K
@@buckwheatohara lol, thanks
Simply beautiful 😍- thank you for this video!! 🙏🏽
If anyone can capture the importance of spending time with friends and loved ones and enjoying shared passions Billy Yang can. What a fantastic experience with amazing scenery and inspiring narration. Thank you BY.
Love the sentiment- such a great long run on a long day on a deep and Grand Canyon!
Thanks for coming along on the adventure MG!
I think you put it beautifully. The Grand Canyon is incredibly humbling- both in the physical effort required to traverse it and in its sheer beauty.
Just saw this and, as always with Yang Films, I am truly amazed by the beauty, pain and thankfulness that surrounds your ambitions. Billy, she’s a keeper!
I loved this! This has been on my bucket list for YEARS, and I am hoping to do this in 2023 at some time. Loved your video - it really captured the highs and lows of the run. Thank you for sharing!
Great adventure shared with friends in such a stunning landscape - thanks for sharing with us!
Beautiful as always! Great job on the run and on the film 💪💪🤙🏻
another fantastic film! cheers Billy👊
Bravo, Billy! Inspiring stuff!
Nice video. Congrats to you, Hillary, and the rest of your friends on the successful challenge.
This was a great journey. Thank you for sharing.
This was incredible. In 2019 a buddy and I did SK -> PR -> BA after realizing that we were not prepared for a full R2R2R. This year we are scheduled for the full distance in October. Thank you for this amazing motivation to get my ass up and moving!
Another GREAT video Billy. "This place is much too perfect and beautiful for it to just happen by accident."
I couldn't agree more. Way to go for you and your friends to grind through a very grueling day. Thank you for sharing Billy.
Thanks Billy. Had this one saved for just the right moment. Finally getting back from injury and looking for inspiration to plan an adventure. You're film making in the running world is unparalleled and full of inspiring moments. One day I will make it across to the U.S again and this route is on my list for sure! Thank you and I hope one day to meet you on the trail. 👊
Spot on description of the box during the second crossing. It definitely feels like it goes on forever.
Loved my trip doing R2R2R this brought back good memories of it. Definitely a must do. Thanks for the vid.
Inspiring! What an accomplishment, beautifully presented. Thank you for sharing!
Just another beautiful film. Very inspiring.
That was epic and awesome. thank you for sharing.
Quite the amazing adventure! It's so interesting to see what the Grand Canyon looks like at different times of the year.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoyed watching the process.
Amazing video! I recently made my first trip to the Grand Canyon. Just did rim to river and back up on the South Kaibab Trail. You do a great job capturing the beauty of the place both in the video you shot and in your words. There’s something special about that place. I can’t wait to go back one day.
So well done BY! Thanks for making this inspiring video
Way cool. Excellent video as always.
Congrats for your accomplishment! Your video is so awesome!
Awesome video Billy! A bucket-list run for sure! I Spent the winter training hard and traveled across the country from NC… I ran r3 on 3/20/22, it was a truly amazing experience! You did such a great job explaining the excitement, the highs and lows of this experience
This was glorious to watch. I was at the canyon a very long time ago as a young kid. I plan on running rim to rim some day in the near future. Thanks for sharing your adventure!!
Billy ALWAYS delivering the goods....
This video is incredibly well done, Billy! I did rim to rim in 2020 and it’s incredible. Mad respect for rim to rim to rim!
Superb! I did it in 2008. Your video brought back good memories!
Thank you for the amazing film! Last spring, after poorly preparing, I ran down to Indian Springs with my 14 year old, the climb out was tough but absolutely and literally breathtaking. I really wanted to get away from the tourists and just experience the canyon and your film captured it beautifully. I can't wait for the opportunity to go further next time.
Another awesome film Billy. Thank you.
“Oh, we’re gonna run it in?” 😂
I have done this 2x - and looking forward to a 3rd soon - the discovery that you go through is just outright incredible… I can’t wait to do it again.
It was nice to relive that fay through your video! Even cooler surprise running into that day! Great film as always!
Well done, thank you for sharing.
What a great video!! I visited the North Rim a few years ago on a Geology field trip, and it was honestly a spiritual experience for me. I have to go back to the North Rim every few years just for a recharge because I love it so much. I loved how you talked about it, and the video was a great reminder for me to get back out and run again! Thank you!!
I was in the GC once many years ago before I began running....and since it has been on my bucket list.....thank you for this amazing video
Thanks for the trip Billy, by far one of the best videos of the R2R2R, it's on my list. fantastic job, amazing.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Fantastic video Billy ! The beauty is incredible! When you crossed the bridge in the beginning, and the water was a turquoise color….. oh wow ! I’ve always said, id rather live by the mountains than by the ocean. Thanks for your videos 🙂👍
Wow, simply amazing! This is truly inspiring!
Beautiful footage. Thx.
Great film, much respect for what you accomplished after recently visiting Grand Canyon and doing some modest hiking. My advice to others, don't wait till you are 64 years old (like me), get out there and see the majestic Grand Canyon!
Not a runner here but your video was great! Looking forward to hiking (old man), not running, the canyon in the future! Great narrative, great music selection, and great camera work! Thank you for sharinig!
Fabulous effort. I am so impressed. Just going down to Bright Angel Campground is tough, but all the way to North Rim and back wow.
I so missed watching your video’s. Thanks Billy for making these awesome video’s.
As always Billy, excellent video! Having seen both the north and south I know you can't reproduce it on video but your narration is spot on.
Wow just wow!! I’m going!! Great video and thanks for sharing!!
Oh, of course, Billy Yang! Congratulations on the run and wonderful film. I'm an ultra runner, almost certainly older than anyone in your entire group. Never been to the north rim. I've hiked down to the river and back up with a friend from the south rim. A good day's hike. Half way down, you realize the canyon is twice as deep as it looks from the top. An amazing experience! Thanks for doing this. As always, beautifully shot and brilliantly edited.
Great film Billy, I really want to get over there someday (from Aus) and do this, thanks so much for showing the scenery and what it takes to get through the day too!
Definitely a bucket list experience
First time watching your video. Awesome!
Thank you for making these videos.
Great running shots!
Beautiful!!!
I love your videos, and I love your philosophy. Take care my friend.
Thank you for sharing! Awesome video. I'm a retired geophysicist and agree with your assessment that the Grand Canyon is glimpse into things greater than ourselves. Best
Nicely done. Thank you!
