I am so glad I found your channel! I've watched this Kyoto video several times and made tons of notes, I've already booked tickets for the show at Gion Corner, five premium front row seats. We are taking our kids to Japan for the first two weeks of May and your videos are so clear, concise and extremely informative. You also use great music and your voice is very soothing. I cannot say the same for other videos I've watched. 🙂 Thank you Eileen!
Eileen, your vlog was absolutely the BEST one I've seen about Kyoto and I've watched (painfully) over half a dozen. It was interesting and you maintained a friendly and enchanting pace, which kept my attention....amusing, but also very informative. You focused on the places you were visiting, which was great! Excellent job!
I recently went on an escorted tour and saw some of the places you did but I missed out on such a lot. I must go again and travel independently next time. Thank you.
We didn’t make any reservations. Even if there are lines at restaurants, they go by fairly quickly since customers leave after they are done eating and don’t linger around
I love your videos very much. We are staying in Osaka for 4 days and want to spend 1 or 2 days in Kyoto. What is the best way to travel to Kyoto from Osaka by train? Also what is the top sights for a day trip from Osaka for a limited taste of Kyoto? Thank you.
hmmm,... I would recommend the kanji museum in Gion,... it's really fun and interesting (and they give you lots of free stuff on the second floor). Hiking up to Doshisha Cemetery is really nice too and definitely zero tourists. @2:32 wow! you showed Minamiza ! I was here last Summer for a performance ...
Hi, mainly we walked and used the train or bus, and used a taxi once. I found these locations through researching online or just finding them as I am wondering around
Is this a recent trip? It looks the weather is still cool and everybody wears a jacket. We’re going there in two days and only packed shorts and shirts. Probably have to repack…
I was there in April (when it was still cooler) and also in May when it started to warm up. It’s much warmer now in Kyoto so maybe you packed is fine 😃. Have a great trip to Kyoto!
nonononono... you do not need jackets in kyoto in july. the video must have been shortly after sakura season, its green but not hot. so april, maybe a very cold may (could also be october, but that would mean 2019, since 2022 october was still devoid of tourists). you will be fine with shorts and shirts. do not forget sunscreen!
I went to Japan over 20 years ago and couldn't believe how expensive it was but the Japanese Yen has dropped significantly and there are bargains to be had ( at least from my country anyway) ......So if you get the chance then TAKE IT !..
What were the dates of your trip? I am planning a trip next March. Can I send you my iteniary to review and offer any tips? I just booked my flights this week. (My rescheduled trip from 2020)
saw that you took a taxi that fitted 6 people. Can I check if you flagged the taxi off the street or booked it through an app? A quick internet search seem to indicate that most taxis fit 4-5 people:/
honestly it depends. the short answer can be yes, but it wont speak the whole truth. There is so much to see in Kyoto, that you need days to explore the big ticket items. Especially when you dont want to sit in the bus or taxi all day long to criss across the city and would much rather explore the area you are at even if you have seen the big ticket item you came here for. case in point, you could rush to Kiyomizudera, see it, and rush off across the city for Kinkakuji or Fushimi Inari, but that would be insane. You can spend a whole day in Higashiyama and see so many awesome things. Now, that all having said, Uji is great. It becomes greater when you are really into tea. Nara is also great. But I would suggest looking into doing daytrips to Uji or Nara when you have seen Arashiyama, Higashiyama, central Kyoto (Nijojo, Palace, Nishiki) and Kinkakuji. Thats 3-5 days, depending on how you can make it all work. So in a week, you can reasonable expect to see Uji and Nara, in less than 5 days, I would say you probably are leaving great things in Kyoto behind to rush off to see something else - which is good if you intend to do so, and may not be what you want if you do so uninformed...
I was gonna say the same thing. When I was learning Japanese I thought of it as "You" with a "G" in front cause it's hella Gsansta. One of my favorite things in Kyoto. While we are here, Kyoto is like "Yo" on "Yo-yo" but again, put the "K" in front. So it is more like "KYOH" +"TOH" It's hard, but only the Ki words are "KEY" and Ky words are "KYOH" and "KYOH" Keep crushing It

The Japanese foods are the arts. So beautiful deserts and cookies.
the Japanese take it to the next level!

nice vlog! enjoyed it very much and im going in 3months and this helped out thanks!
Thank you so much! I am very excited for you, have the best time in Kyoto!
I recently went on an escorted tour and saw some of the places you did but I missed out on such a lot. I must go again and travel independently next time. Thank you.
It happens, there’s a lot to see! It took me 3 visits to Kyoto to see most!
Thanks!

Hi Eileen, great channel and great videos. Question for you - where was the Yojiya store you went to in Kyoto? My wife wants to go there!
There are a couple locations in Kyoto. The one I was to was in Kiyomizu Sannenzaka
Did you have to make any reservations at the restaurants you ate at?
We didn’t make any reservations. Even if there are lines at restaurants, they go by fairly quickly since customers leave after they are done eating and don’t linger around

Train is the best way to get between both, and it’s around an hour so very convenient
よくやった ! ❤
ありがとう 🙏
Thanks for sharing the video! Can you please tell me the name of hotel you stayed in Kyoto? Thanks
Prince Smart Inn Kyoto Shijo Omiya. Thank you for watching 🫶🏼

Which gyukatsu kyoto katsugyu location had the less wait?
Both seem to be equally busy
Is this summer spring winter or fall when best time to go ?
Spring and Fall. Summer is too hot and winter too cold 😄
hi miss eileen. im a new subscriber. may i ask is the front row the best seats to watch the show?
Hello! The venue is pretty small so no need to sit in the front row. You will get a great view from any seat
@@eileensworld wow thank you so much for replying. i have the biggest crush on you. im definitely watching all your videos now
Where did you get that strawberry tea tho 😭
I’ve only seen it only in ONE shop throughout Japan. It’s the last gift store on the left as you approach Kiyomuzu Dera

Hello, how didi you move around and finding all the locations?
Hi, mainly we walked and used the train or bus, and used a taxi once. I found these locations through researching online or just finding them as I am wondering around
Hi Eileen! Did you book a reservation for the kimono rental or do they take walk ins?
I made reservations on the official website! A little difficult because it was all in Japanese so I had translate. You can try booking from Klook too.
@@eileensworld thank you very much ❤️

Any healthy restaurants? I see a lot of fried food and sweets.
you can find all types of food. I just eat what I like, fried and sweet 😇

how did you buy tickets for the bus? would the suica card work?
IC cards (Suica and Pasmo) work! and don’t forget - you pay for the bus BEFORE you get off, NOT when you get on
Im really sorry to do this. But its Gyukatsu not Gaiyu. Pronounced like Glue but replace the "L" with a "Y"
