    Hi Remi. Love your video. I too was born in Fukuoka, but many decades before you! :-). I am half Japanese. I grew up in Japan (mother was Japanese and married my dad who was in the military) and ended up in San Diego to go to college. We have a family trip to Japan at the end of this month to visit family in Fukuoka. We then head to Kyoto and end in Tokyo. It has been 15 years since we last visited so we are very excited! I will watch your other videos before we leave!

I hope you have the best time reuniting with family and Japan. Thanks for taking the time to watch and reach out! :)

    Fukuoka is such a chill place. Also less stressful to drive there than in Tokyo 😂. Hawaiian airlines has direct flights to Fukuoka, Kansai, Haneda, Narita and Chitose. These videos is giving me the Japan itch to press the button on tickets.

      to be honest i have heard such mixed things about this!! I'm definitely not an expert in Japanese manners but generally, it's best not to be "wasteful" and to be mindful of how much you can eat. But, if in the end, you just can't finish it, then don't force yourself.

    Hi Remi. Thanks for sharing your trip. I am planning a trip to Osaka - Kyoto and nearby prefectures sometime mid December. Where you in Kyoto during the weekdays as I don't see crazy crowd in your video? Want to get the timing right :p

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  4 месяца назад

      I was in Kyoto during weekdays. This video was filmed December 2022. Unfortunately there’s much less crowds because the borders opened only a few months prior. In Kyoto, I recommend visiting your top priority places right when they open.
      If you’re looking for clean photos of areas, you can start your day really early. However, keep in mind that most food places and shops won’t open until 10.
      I hope this helped! Have a great trip :)

    Hello Remi from Italy. I'm just watching your video and love it. I'm going to visit Japan next november in 2 weeks form Hiroshima to Tokyo passing by Osaka, Kyoto and Nara(classic Tour). I want to ask you if it is a good idea to choose Osaka like a base and take the train each time to visit one day Kyoto and one day Nara. If not, how many days do you think, for your experience, I have to spend in Osaka, Kyoto and Nara? Thanks for your time and your reply..

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  Год назад +1

      Ooh! Wow I'm so excited for you and this trip! Love all those destinations. Osaka or Kyoto are good places to make your base. It's really easy to travel between Osaka/Kyoto/Nara via train. One day in Nara is enough but I would recommend at least a few days for Kyoto because popular Kyoto spots are more spread out. I hope this was helpful! Let me know if you have more questions!

      hi! i'm glad you enjoyed the video :) credit card is accepted in Japan but there are a lot of places that are cash only. You can also use a Suica or other IC cards to pay electronically as well. I haven't had to use a pin for past credit card purchases. I've also personally never tried using Uber in Japan but it's really easy to catch a cab! Especially if you're near a station. Or if you're catching it from your hotel, the front desk can call one for you! I hope this helps!

      Oh yes, I will definitely be back in Japan as often as I can. I love it. & there are actually a lot of coffee shops in Japan with outlets but it gets really crowded! I've even found outlets on trains lol but yeah, I struggled in Kyoto because I honestly didn't do much research into where I wanted to work for the day. I had much more success in Tokyo when I took the time to find blogs about the "best places to work" so suggest doing that if you ever plan to work out there! :)

    Why are people wearing masks

    • @remishimazu
      @remishimazu  Год назад

      This video was filmed when the government still required masks in Japan. But masks are nothing new in Japan. They wear masks for multiple other reasons like allergies (Japanese people are prone to hay fever in the spring), when they have a cold (as a courtesy to prevent spreading germs to others especially on public transportation), to keep their faces warm, etc. As of March 2023, masks are no longer required but you’ll still see lots of masks worn. I hope this helps provide some context to masks in Japan!
