Hello pretty lady, very nice video. It is awesome you are able to spend time with your father. I’m planning on making a trip to Kyoto for around 7 days and will stay near Kyoto station. This video gave me some good ideas for some days trips. Arigato Gozaimasu.
Great to see some different aspects of the places. Every RUclips video seems to show the same views, but you really captured some more interesting and atypical places!
Thanks for this detailed report. Your photography and narration were excellent. I bookmarked this video and hope to visit many of your food stops when I visit Japan in June.

Hi, I'm loving the narrative and some of the differnt parts of the cities you show in the video. I was wondering if you can provide the hotel name that you stayed at in Osaka? Thank you
you can find eki stamp books at book stores near the train (eki) stations! I'd show one of the people working there a photo of the notebook and they can show you where to find it in store :)
Yes! No one talks about this but collecting station stamps is such a great souvenir from a Japan trip! Most (not all) stations in Japan have their own stamp which is customized for the area. Some of the luxury/scenic trains have their own as well! The stamps are located in different areas of the station so you can either treat it like a scavenger hunt or ask the information booth if they have one! Ooh nice! The price increase was steep for those passes. I’m glad you got them ahead of the price hike! I’m excited for your guys trip. The food quality in Japan is amazing! You’ll have the best time :)
you can purchase them at bookstores near stations. they're a little hard to find so I'd ask someone at the store to help you! I also created my own stamp books that include top Japanese travel phrases. you can find them here: lifestylebyremi.com/shop/ hope you have a great trip to Japan! :)
Thank you for sharing the video, I really like it! I have been to Japan 3 times and I love Japan. I have a question for you, at around 16:06 of this video you have a passport-like book with stamps, I saw one of this in a shop in Tokyo Station, but I didn't get it, since I wonder how are you able to get all the stamps from every Japan stations you visited. So my question is can you get a stamp at every Japan station or city you visited? If it is possible I am gonna get one next time I am in Japan. Thank you again 🙂
most stations in japan (especially the bigger ones) have stamps that are customized to represent the area. it's so much fun to collect so definitely recommend looking for them the next time you're in Japan. I got my stamp book at a book store near the station! If you don't have a book, the stamp area sometimes has paper there for you. I hope this was helpful!
not yet! I have a few videos coming soon from my spring 2023 trip. I went to Wakayama (south of Osaka), Yonezawa (north of Tokyo). I also went to Nagoya and Kamakura (both close to Tokyo). All these places are easy to get to. I haven't posted RUclips videos yet but you can see snippets of my trip on my Instagram @remishimazu.
I filmed this vlog early December. It’s honestly my favorite time of the year in Japan because of the weather and all the holiday illuminations. I hope you have a great time!
Hi Remi, I will be in Japan in September and I plan on doing a similar itinerary with the exception of Kobe. Do you recommend I get the JR pass? How much was the train from Osaka to Kyoto and Osaka to Nara? 🥰
Hi! I recently found a JR Pass calculator that should help you decide whether a pass is worth it for you! www.japan-guide.com/railpass/ I hope you enjoy your trip! :)
Whats the deal with all the stamls/seals? Are they located randomly? I'm heading to Japan in a few weeks and it looks a nice additional on a postcard 😁
Many Japanese stations have their own eki (station) stamps that are customized to represent the area which makes it a fun (free!) souvenir! Not all stations have them but most major ones do. They're sometimes hard to find because they're not always located in the same spot. You can always ask the station information center and they can help you. I got my stamp book from a Kikokuniya store at one of the stations. I hope this was helpful and have a great time on your trip!
The Moxy was about a block or two from the bus you take to the station. the bus ride was maybe one or two stops long--so not far at all! I hope this helps!
Thank you! & oh! I'm so excited for you and your first trip to Japan! If you only have time for one place, I'd say Tokyo for your first time. You'll get the baseline experience of Japan--both new and old. Plus there is something for everyone in Tokyo!
Hello and thank you so much for this informative video. I have a question and I’d appreciate if you could answer. We are planning to spend 6 days in Kansai region. As far as I understand you stayed only in Osaka for the rest of the trip and went to other cities for day trips. Is that something you recommend? If so, what train ticket should we get for 6 days to visit most of Kansai region?🙏🙏
that's correct! we took all these day trips from Osaka. However, you could also use Kyoto as a home base. I recommend also spending at least a 3+ days in Kyoto if possible. There's a lot to see in Kyoto but everything is pretty spread out so I recommend staying in the area. I hope this helps! You could get the Kansai 4-day pass if you plan to use Kyoto as a home base (it's farther away from Kobe & Nara than Osaka. Otherwise, I don't think you need a train pass for a six day trip in the Kansai region alone. I recommend using an IC card (suica or pasmo) that you can refill and tap in/out of stations. Note that the Limited Express trains (like the popular one to Nara) is not covered by JR Passes and require an additional ticket that you can purchase at the gate entrance.
@@remishimazu Thank you so much for your detailed answer. Do you recommend theJR Kansai area pass or the Kansai Thru Pass? According to my research Kansai Thru Pass also covers subways of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. Which pass do you recommend? Thank you again for your time and effort!!
You can minimize your spendings in Japan. It‘s very easy. I know the flights are expensive right now. But in Japan as long as you don‘t visit all those tourist traps like Tokyo Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower and pay for the entrance, you can save pretty much money. You can sleep in those cheap capsule hotels and also there are many cheap restaurants!!😊 Hope you can visit Japan one day. Japan is a awesome country with beautiful landscape and interesting traditions😊
Thank you for posting. Visited a cousin in Kanazawa last month and traveled thru Tokyo for a few day. Next spring, Osaka, Nara, Kobe...maybe Okinawa. Enjoyed your video!
Hi. Thank you for your videos. Can you share your transportation experience and do you use IC card or you just buy tickets from the Stations? Thank you again.
Oh! For long JR trips and certain limited express trains you will need to purchase tickets or reserve seats in advance. That’s the only time I buy tickets though!
I got you! Here's the name i found online + website and address! :) 月日星 お漬物バイキングと茶粥、炊きたてご飯 Japan, 〒630-8213 Nara, Noboriojicho, 59-9 1階 www.tsukihiboshi.com/
Hi remi! Thanks for this video - very very insightful. Visiting Japan in April and great to see the possibilities of things to do in and around Osaka. Shame that the cable card did not work upon your visit. Was is due to the season or? Would love to visit in April though. And is it easy to get there by bus, from Kobe central station? Thanks again :)
Hi!! Ugh. The cable car was under "maintenance updates" when we went! lol I checked the website right now though and it's open! It seems like they do routine maintenance checks often (which I guess I'm not mad about haha) but I would definitely check the website before you head out there. Here's a link! www.rokkosan.com/cable/?lang=en It was super easy to get there by bus! I believe we took a quick train ride to another station nearby and then there were big signs for the bus that takes you to Mount Rokko! Once you're at Mount Rokko, there's one main bus that will take you back to the train station. Although the cable car wasn't running, I'm still glad we went because of the terrace area. I hope this was helpful and hope you have so much fun on your trip in April!
@@remishimazu hi Remi! Thanks for the response! Really appreciate you taking the time to respond and looking up info. Just one more thing before deepdiving in your info: do you happen to know if buses go back to the station relatively late? Because we probably would like to head up there after sunset.
Most facilities at Mount Rokko close around 8-9pm I believe? So it’s likely that buses going to and from won’t run much later than that. Sorry I couldn’t give more of a definitive answer but I hope that helps give you at least an idea of what to expect!
Very informative vlog... it makes me want to go to Osaka, Kyoto and Nara soon... I've been to Tokyo last March 5... more Japan vlogs... New subscriber here.

that's probably my favorite time to go because you'll likely still see the beautiful fall foliage all around and the weather is cooler but not too bad. It's also not humid which is nice! I hope you have a great time!
Hi Remi, to walk around in Kyoto and Nara, do we have to take local bus or on foot will do ? To take bus, can we pay the fare by cash or should we buy Suica cars ? Thank you.
It’ll be a mix of walking, local buses and trains! Kyoto’s main destinations are a bit spread out so I recommend staying a couple nights there at least if your schedule permits! You can use cash or IC/Suica card to pay for local buses. I hope this helps!
ooh! I personally like shopping in Tokyo better but I don't think either one is cheaper than the other. I think it's about the same. If you love shopping (like I do), you will LOVE Japan lol
I am visiting Japan for 2 weeks in March 2024, someone told me just to spend several days in Tokyo, then Nara, forget Osaka and head to the countryside for the rest of your trip seeking out rural onsen. What do you say?
i think it depends what you're looking to get out of your trip to japan. are you a foodie? do you want to see more historic japanese architecture/preserved areas? are you into anime or tech? are you looking for a more relaxing trip versus temple hopping? it's hard to give a general itinerary without knowing what type of traveler you are. Osaka is not my favorite but their food scene is incredible and there are some places really enjoy. You'll definitely need several days in Tokyo (it's bigger than you think). Nara is great if you want to see the deer. However, it's located in the Kansai region near Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe so I'd suggest adding at least one other area in the region if you're going to make the trip out there. Another alternative to traveling to the Kansai region, would be to spend a couple of days in Kanazawa. You'll get the preserved Japanese architecture/area, one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan, a castle, modern art/design museums, and more. I have a video on it if you want to learn more. I hope this helps you as you plan!
I would say the history and culture first, anime and tech second, food third because even the stuff at the 7-11 looks delicious. I really want to get some Jet Jaguar items!@@remishimazu

Ooh nice! The price increase was steep for those passes. I’m glad you got them ahead of the price hike! I’m excited for your guys trip. The food quality in Japan is amazing! You’ll have the best time :)
@remishimazu where did you purchase your stamp book? Btw, love your videos!
you can purchase them at bookstores near stations. they're a little hard to find so I'd ask someone at the store to help you! I also created my own stamp books that include top Japanese travel phrases. you can find them here: lifestylebyremi.com/shop/
hope you have a great trip to Japan! :)
@@remishimazu Planning to buy yours soon before I leave in the fall. Thank!
@@lifewithbarefootchef2418 aw thank you!! that means a lot :)
Hấp dẫn! 💪📢
Thank you very much!
you're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed my video :)
Do you have videos of the country side to visit? Maybe places that are not too spread apart, easier to get to
What month did you visit? Planning to visit these areas too, but during first 2 weeks of December. Do you think it's a good time?
I filmed this vlog early December. It’s honestly my favorite time of the year in Japan because of the weather and all the holiday illuminations. I hope you have a great time!
Hi Remi, I will be in Japan in September and I plan on doing a similar itinerary with the exception of Kobe. Do you recommend I get the JR pass? How much was the train from Osaka to Kyoto and Osaka to Nara? 🥰
Hi! I recently found a JR Pass calculator that should help you decide whether a pass is worth it for you! www.japan-guide.com/railpass/
I hope you enjoy your trip!
Where did you get the booklet that you stamped different locations? I know that’s not a passport, right?
when did you visit ?? the weather looked so so good !! ❤
i went early December! Fall + December are my favorite times to visit. Fall foliage, not as hot/humid, winter illuminations, and (usually) no snow! :)
Where did u get ur notebook where u put your stamps
Appreciate all the info! How far was the Moxy hotel to where you caught the train to Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe?
The Moxy was about a block or two from the bus you take to the station. the bus ride was maybe one or two stops long--so not far at all! I hope this helps!
Awesome vlog 😊❤ just want to ask , for first timer to visit Japan better go to Tokyo or Osaka first😅🙏🏻
Thank you! & oh! I'm so excited for you and your first trip to Japan! If you only have time for one place, I'd say Tokyo for your first time. You'll get the baseline experience of Japan--both new and old. Plus there is something for everyone in Tokyo!
@@remishimazuI seeee..love to hear that🤗😍 thankyou very much for your helpful opinion
LOVE the vibes. Amazing editing. Makes me miss Japan so much!! I def wish I ate more in Kobe when I was there. Osaka was foodie dream land.
thanks chena! means a lot coming from a great editor like you :)
Which moxy hotel did you stay in? The Honmachi or Osaka Shin Umeda? I’m planning on going in January for my birthday ☺️
Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda. ahhh! what a great birthday gift for yourself. I hope you have a great time :)
Thank you again for your time and effort!!
amazing channel, are trains pet friendly
As a poor and broke man seeing these kind of videos and knowing that I would never travel to Japan hit my depression even more 😢😢😭😭
get yo money up not yo bummy up son.
that sounds really difficult and I'm sorry you're going through this. sending you love and support from afar! 💛
Hello fellow broke man ✋
A depressed person will be depressed in Japan. When you see light, happiness will start to follow you. Hope you got the help you need
いいですね🎵
ありがとう ございます ☺
Thank you for posting. Visited a cousin in Kanazawa last month and traveled thru Tokyo for a few day. Next spring, Osaka, Nara, Kobe...maybe Okinawa. Enjoyed your video!
Hi. Thank you for your videos. Can you share your transportation experience and do you use IC card or you just buy tickets from the Stations? Thank you again.
Hi! I use IC cards because it makes it so easy to just tap in and out of stations! Less thinking 😂 I hope this helps!
Oh! For long JR trips and certain limited express trains you will need to purchase tickets or reserve seats in advance. That’s the only time I buy tickets though!
@@remishimazu thank you so much. ❤️

Here's a link! www.rokkosan.com/cable/?lang=en
It was super easy to get there by bus!
Really good to know it's a very short train ride between kyoto and osaka. i prefer kyoto aesthetically so i would probably visit osaka as a day trip.
It's such an easy trip between the two areas! I hope you have a great trip!
What is that book with stamp?
Very informative vlog... it makes me want to go to Osaka, Kyoto and Nara soon... I've been to Tokyo last March 5... more Japan vlogs... New subscriber here.
I feel like this is your sign to go! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)
hi , chance upon your video while searching for travel tips in osaka... would you be kind enough to share which hotel did you stay in osaka?? tyvm
I stayed at the Moxy hotel in Osaka!
What is the name of the pickle restaurant in Nara?!?! We are going in April and that place looked amazing!!

Where did you stay in Osaka ? The hotel looks nice though
we stayed at the Moxy! It was a nice hotel for what we paid. I'd stay there again.
just curious what time did you leave for each day trip?
Great travel vlog. 👍🏻 i have never been to Kobe. Maybe I should give it a try. Have a nice weekend 😊
you should! I really enjoyed Kobe and wish I had more time there. hope you have a great weekend as well! :)
Hahha I thought for a second why is the short-term in the shower.
I’m planning to go last week Nov thru first week Dec. would that be a good time weather-wise?
that's probably my favorite time to go because you'll likely still see the beautiful fall foliage all around and the weather is cooler but not too bad. It's also not humid which is nice! I hope you have a great time!
Love how you are traveling with your dad. Definitely a wifey material.
Where is the building that has the statues of dogs hanging out the window?
It’s actually an animal hospital I believe lol it was down the street from the hotel I stayed at (The Moxy in Osaka)
Hi. Which MONTH of the year 2023 did you visit Osaka? Thanks
this was filmed early December 2022.
I'm guessing that's your pops in the black jacket with the red horse, or some random dude that just happens to be in a lot of your shots:)
ha! yup, that's my dad! him and his jacket have main character energy in my shots lol
Nice. Which hotel u stay in osaka? Thanks
The moxy! :)
Can you share which hotel you stayed? Thanks!
sorry this is so late! I stayed at the Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda. I hope you have a great trip!
by the way, do you recommend shopping in osaka or tokyo? which do u think is cheaper?
