Hi, we have had our Miele dishwasher for 22 years and we have not had any problems so no need to call a service repair person. It is in use a few times per week and works as well as when we first bought it and it is super quiet. We are planning on a kitchen remodel and will probably keep it and not replace with a new model as I am worried a new model will not work as well. If this dishwasher breaks down we will replace with another Miele regardless. This is a good example of better craftsmanship in older appliances.

I was in a very similar senario!! No fear, I bought the new top of the line Miele dishwasher as I did previously - now fully integrated in the new kitchen- it’s just brilliant in every way…..

Btw the new Miele d/w uses less than half the water and energy - really amazing- I cannot even tell it’s in operation, it’s so quiet!!

We own both brands, a Miele 5266 at home and an LG LDTS5552S at our vacation place. Not exactly the same models, there's no auto dispense in our Miele, but close enough. In our experience the Miele is clearly better and if you want the best then Miele is the one to get. That said, for the price the LG is good, as expected I would say. Both have been reliable for us so no concerns there. We do use the Miele dishwasher tablets in both machines (we order them on-line). Like all the Miele stuff the tablets are pricey but we find that those tablets really are a superior product compared to the usual brands you get at the grocery store.

I bought my Miele dishwasher in 2014 and it's been trouble free, not one issue. As far as reliability, let's revisit LG's dishwashers in ten years and see how well, or not, they've held up.

Can you open the spray arms of the LG in order to clean them out?

Yale has it's own in house service department, but very few appliance dealers do. If you're not in or near a major city, then buying an appliance becomes a dicey proposition. Do you buy, for example, the Miele, or do you go with another brand that may not be as reliable but you stand a better chance of getting sevice for?

Depends on the service in that area....Google that first

My LG dishwasher died after 4 years, was in the house when I bought it and had no proof of purchase, so no warranty. It was good until it died. Replaced with a Miele which I’d had before at a previous home, it is still going strong at the 4 year mark; superior in its interior drying capability too may I add. I think I will always stick with Miele if it’s an appliance I’m going to live with.

LG has made a major come back from the 2019 lawsuit. I'm impressed with LG and sell a bunch of it, but only after I explain LG isn't the same company it was.

People who buy Miele do not buy LG, it’s that simple. Miele built to last 20years and they stand by their products.

Possibly...I am a big fan of Miele and own one. However, what makes you (or anyone) say they last 20 years? And how exactly do they back this up.

@@YaleAppliance1 are you a Miele retailer? Thats their philosophy and has been for decades, it's on their website. I can't believe you actually sell their products and dont know anything about the company. Immer Besser. They repair and replace products well past warranty. It's called consumer laws.

    • @YaleAppliance1

We sell more Miele than anyone in the NorthEast. Have you looked at their service reviews. Look in San Fran. They don't replace anything out of warranty. I love the company, but want to be factual with expectations

Liked Miele appliances, but they aren't built to last any longer than average. Had a Miele washer that needed new parts after 7 years and they were no longer available, was told to just buy a new one. Got an LG fl washer as it's the brand I had for my rentals and never had issues for 8 years despite them being abused.
Miele dishwashers were the last large appliance that seemed to have any advantages, so when my KitchenAid died after 15 years, it's what I got. The control board needed replacement after 6 months!
That said, the Miele did clean well, but unlike the KA, it had a filter that needed to be cleaned. In retrospect, why would I spend money on a cleaning appliance only to continue to require cleaning it. Returned it and got an LG with a food grinder.
