Got this exact pistol in today , based on your review, and I'm blown away at the quality, fit and finish..... it rivals some of my higher end 1911s..... if it's as accurate as you've demonstrated it will be a home run. Thanks, this never would have crossed my radar but for your videos
👍😎
Grips look great she had a plan and she succeeded like a boss lol
That's a good wife, one that's positively affecting your gun collection
She certainly contributes her fair share to our collection. She's also my producer, editor and videographer - without her, I wouldn't have a channel.
@@Icarryone behind every good man is a better woman
I just purchased this gun in stainless and nickle! Cant wait to get it in. It took a long time to find it. Thanks for the great video.
Beautiful 1911. Funny grip story. Top notch and classy video as always Sir!
Never a dull minute with her around.
It's been a while but it's good to see you back with another, great video. One with another, beautiful 10mm, no less! Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure.
Just want to say thank you for all of the amazing videos. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you Matthew.
Gorgeous 1911 10mm Sir. Also another awesome addition to your 10mm collection too.
It certainly is - thanks Jerry.
As always an awesome cool video on a cold night. One day I will get a 1911. Thanks for sharing your video. I truly hope you have a blessed Holliday season my friend. God bless you and your loved ones.
You too Thomas - thank you.
Once again the nicest looking grips around.
I always appreciate your feedback my friend.
Such a beauty. ...and those grips are just incredible.
Thanks John.
Icarryone, your absolutely right about Eagle XL.Awesome gun and very nice grips also. Thanks for the video.Slim.
Thank you Slim.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful 10mm with us!
You are quite welcome Robert.
The new grips are very nice. I can see why she wanted the original rosewood/white. Those were beautiful too!
I have to admit, they do look particularly good on her DW Valor.
Great to see you again!
Thanks!
Great pistol and great caliber rally ,the best. Have a nice Week end👍👍👍
Thanks Roberto.
I have the nonported version. I installed a Wilson flatwire mainspring in mine. I also had to use an EGW spring plug that lets you use a 5 inch spring in a 6 inch gun. This gun shoots like a Swiss watch tells time! It is one of my favorite carry guns I use for security work.
👍🤠
Wow, the newer grips are beautiful. Nice pistol.
Thank you.
You are right, those are sharp groups!
Yes, they actually do look really nice on this 1911.
Awesome video as always!
Thank you.
Sir, after seeing your two previous videos I purchased the same gun (sans the port) and has become my favorite range gun. I did also change the recoil spring, replaced the front sight for a fiber one and installed a different trigger (mostly for cosmetics but also to make the trigger reset a tad bit better). The felt recoil is very manageable even when shooting my stout 180gr at 1360 fps. Finally, I have not seen any leading on my barrel while shooting said loads, even though they are cast bullets. My only gripe would be that the brass is ejected with intent! but that probably is a by product of shooting the 10MM
Nobody can ever say that a 1911 is hard to customize - and yes, a 10mm can chunk brass quite a distance.
Really nice pistol , thank you for the review.
It was my pleasure, Steven.
Thanks to you I had to get one of these.
Hope you like it as much as I do mine.
Thanks ICO, the grips do look great. I worked in Alaska (74'-76'). I carried a 357 side arm. I'd carry that 10mm their too if they were around than.
Agreed.
Got the package. Wow! Thank you Sir!
Entirely my pleasure - and yes, you deserve it.
That does look amazing!!
Thank you kindly.
You're a lucky man to have such a good wife. They have two of these at my local shop and I'm thinking about it being my first 10mm.
👍🤠
Love all your videos, and that is an awesome 1911. Your wife must be great!
She certainly is.
As always great video
Thank you.
I enjoy your videos.
Thank you Brian.
Sweet shooter!
It is indeed.
I didn't think those were the Grips I seen on there before 👍👍🇺🇸🤓
You are correct - these Ivory Eagles are a fairly recent addition. I have to say, I really like them.
Your wife has good taste. Good luck this season
Thanks buddy.
Now were talking,that's nice.
Very accurate 1911.
I debated for a long time before I bought the sig p220. But I was real close to getting the eagle XL
You can always add the XL at a later date.
Imma get one some day.
Excellent choice.
The grips look great an I think the ported barrel has to help with recoil.
The porting does help a little - and the grips feel really good in the hand.
Thank you for the update!!!
The new grips look great on that Iver. I think it's the ivory that sets that gun off.
I've been on Gunbroker as of late and found that Iver Johnson makes a non ported XL in 10mm as well. And curious what the performance difference would be.
The performance difference between the two isn't really all that much.
@@Icarryone I'm still going to pick up an Iver. When I do, I'll let you know. Thank you for the update video!
Icarryone also, do you have a video on trimming a spring? That would be awesome.
The next time that comes up I'll try to remember to do that.
@@Icarryone Thank you. That will be one that I watch.
I just put the Eagle XL Chrome ported 6” on layaway!
Excellent! 👍
I just purchased this exact firearm,I was wondering about holsters. Can you direct me towards someone who carries a holster for this one. Will a standard open end 1911 holster work beings this is one inch longer, any info would be greatly appreciated
The one I have is made by Hughes Holsters - unfortunately his custom leather works is temporarily closed due to a move. I'm sure you can Google holsters to fit a long slide 1911 and find something you like.
Does the porting have any affect on the velocity of the bullet? I always enjoy your videos Sir.
With the longer barrel, you do gain a slight velocity increase. The porting does take some of that gain away - but the upside is less muzzle whip.
I appreciate the quick reply Sir. I think I will have to buy the ported one. Have a nice Thanksgiving.
Do you reload your own 10mm cartridge? If so, what is your favorite load data recipe?
Follow this link Harry: ruclips.net/video/SqDLiYOQUwc/видео.html
WOW WOW WOW!!
Yes indeed.
I happen to be building a longslide from scratch right now, as well as a compact. Both in .45 ACP. Who made those grips?
These are made by Buffalo Brothers. There is a link to their website in the video description box.
Icarryone Thank You, Sir.
Springfield XD came out with a 10mm. Have you seen it and plan on testing one?
At this time, I don't have access to one.
What was done to the front grip frame ? I like the stippling, looks like it gives a really good grip. Was this done in house or gunsmith? thank You .
I just added a little grip tape. I'll take all the help I can get.
@@Icarryone ok wow turned out great. Looked like it was custom .. is that available online ? The grip tape ?
Yes, ebay.
Spec's say it won't handle +p or hand loads. Would you do a video about loads it will handle
Here are a couple of videos I've uploaded that discuss 10mm ammo:
ruclips.net/video/SqDLiYOQUwc/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/3HcUhlefmJQ/видео.html
When replacing the recoil spring, what would be the best length for the widest range of ammo?
Like I said in the video, a #2 Wolf spring trimmed to the exact length as the factory recoil spring seems to handle the widest range of ammo - including the hotter Norma class 10mm loads.
Thanks! I appreciate the clarification. Great video!
I'm amazed you guys can get the long slide 10mm to work. I have the Iver Johnson Eagle XL -10 10mm with 6 inch barrel and it's complete junk! I've fired about 170 rounds through it, using 3 different magazines and not one mag in the 170 rounds I've fired has NOT jammed.
The rounds keep jamming up against the barrel breech. I'm lucky if I can get 2 rounds to fire consecutively, I've tried several different brands of ammo and even tried hollow points. Darn near every round jams, even when I try racking the slide after inserting new mag. Jam, Jam jam,
Any suggestions would help. Gun is still under warranty but I've heard their customer service dept is not good. From what I gather, I'm not the only one with this problem.
My 10 mm Emperor Scorpion has it's feed ramp attached to the gun barrel breech and I never had a problem with it. This gun does not have the feed ramp attached to the barrel breech. Nothing but an unshootable gun. Makes me sad :(
Try using Wilson Combat magazines. My Eagle XL runs fine using those magazines. Caveat: As a side note, some brands of hollow point bullets don't seem to work well in just about any 1911 that hasn't had the feed ramp and barrel lip polished. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/MfF5Uy6lGic/видео.html
@@Icarryone The hollow point trial was just to see if they would work. I ordered a Sig Sauer 10mm mag for 1911 and a higher mag catch. Last resort if this doesn't work will be trying to find a Wilson combat mag as you suggest. Thanks for replying.
I really want this gun to work but so far it's been a nightmare. How they could sell a gun like this is beyond me. At least sell it with a proper magazine!
Thanks again.
Fine video, beautiful gun, funny story about the wife. She got you, but aren't you "somewhat" partial to ornate pistol grips? Regards from Italy!
She knows exactly the kind of bait to use on me too - drat!
Does porting equate to less bullet velocity
Yes, just a bit - but the porting does reduce muzzle whip. It's a trade off I'm willing to live with.
Are trhese made in the USA?
Sweet looking Weapon. So did you draw a Deer tag this season?
Unfortunately, no.
Icarryone That’s no good. So what state do you live in? Is it strictly a Draw State, no OTC tags at all?
In Nevada, all big game "centerfire weapon" hunts are subject to the draw.
Icarryone well that just sucks. Are there that many people that Hunt Big Game with a Firearm in Nevada, or are THEY stingy with BIG GAME TAGS?
love this channel I'm looking for my first 1911 in 10mm but need help to decide lol anyone
Your wallet will be your only limit!
Do you by chance know what spring you recommend replacing or using in this 191!. I am looking for a Wolfe Spring strongest setting for longslide 6".
Their #2 spring provides approximately 20 pounds of spring force - Their #1 spring provides about 22 pounds of force. I went with their #2 spring cut two coils longer than the factory spring. Works great.
@@Icarryone awesome my friend i will keep that in mind and order one. Thanl you for your video ad information outstanding
@@Icarryone in your opinion how well does this 1911 group in 10mm?
@@Icarryone after you changed out the spring.
@@Icarryone sorry does the regular 1911 5 imch spring #2 would work best? I was going to go with that originally if this is what you recommend.
yes,... I'd be happy as anyone could be to get one for Christmas.... dad. lol
If one doesn't show up under the tree on Christmas morning - you probably failed Santa's background check.
Icarryone 😂 LOL
Holy! I’m........
👍
hows it handle the hot loads
Eats them up like candy.
Are those grips the plain finish?
According to the invoice they are antiqued ivory.
@@Icarryone awesome! Ordering a few pairs now!
who sells a 10mm 6 inch thraeded barrel
I'm not sure.
Holster?
www.cochiseleather.com/old-style-shoulder-holster-sh1942.aspx - call for special length.
Whats the farthest shot you’ll take on a deer with a pistol?
I always try to limit my shots at medium sized game to under 100 yards.
Good to know. Always been curious what the hand gun hunters norm is. May try handgun hunting someday.
A long slide 10mm 1911... yes please... just no porting
Alaskan Ballistics

I 'liked' but it didn't register
I have no clue how to fix that.
Had one double fired each time, sent it back they repaired by note , then it had jams and sold it. Very disappointed
No issues with this one.
Our wives subversive behaviors are always in our best interests
I wouldn't dare suggest otherwise - that, would definitely NOT be in my best interest.
Nice grips!
Don't forget, women made us eat the apple too. They know how to use their wickeds and wilds against us.
So, that's how she did it! She beguiled with her homemade apple pie. Like Adam, I should have seen that coming.
